Make me a tanky-ish post patch mesmer build?
New to mesmers. Really enjoy the gameplay, but feel SUPER squishy (cause I suck – I know… I’m working on it).
Can someone suggest a good survivability mesmer build in the June 23rd world??

I’m going with phantasms and a celestial amulet – a mix of power and condition damage to take advantage of all the stats…
Why a tanky build ? Maybe a more supportive, ok. Also, you don’t need to shatter your clones if you feel you’re squishy, learn when to shatter or not.
Chaos is a good line for boons/tank. Protection when you have Chaos Armor or Regen.
Inspiration is a good line for support/heal/phantasm/mantra.
Make a build around those tree lines. A phantasm build is good to make you learn about Mesmer mechanics.
It sounds like I should look up phantasm builds. I hear you don’t really need to shatter them to be dps viable.
I’m still working on the shatter + clones + dodging + skill triggering timing/micromanagement.
Not impossible with the traits we have no. Ineptitude/Blinding Dissipation for survivability via blinds and evades, Chaos Dampening for lots of protection, and Illusionary Inspiration or Mental Defense for phantasmal support. This is something that should definitely be tested.
@Don, oh I’ve been dreaming of a Bruiser/Support mesmer. Inspiration will now allow us to heal/protect allies and give some great on-point buffs. I’m already thinking of a Dueling/Chaos/Inspiration build that will mix glamours and shatters to blind/damage enemies, and offer boons to allies. Even without traiting Illusions, support shatter is a thing. It won’t have Shattered Concentration, but a beefy Nullfield with Temporal Enchanter will be nice.
I’m thinking Staff/Sword-Pistol with Celestial Amulet. Not sure about the runes yet.
Does anyone know quite how Resistance will work with conditions like Immobilize. Say you’re immobilized for 5 seconds, but have 2 seconds of Resistance, can you move freely for 2 out of those 5 seconds? If so, Temporal Enchanter + Nullfield is a pretty godly cleanse.

How do you figure that? A Chaos/Insp combo will be extremely tanky. With Staff you can have a very high uptime of Protection, and Insp will give you a bunch of extra healing while cleansing conditions. Throw in Dom and you can get more Distortions from Signets to share with your team even, and still do decent damage.
You can even get a bit of Stability from BD (Chaos), and a ton of reflects via Master of Manipulations.
Sure, you won’t have strong illusion production and will lack the punch of a Power Shatter build, but you’re more geared towards tanking and support, so that’s the trade off you make.
Well, I was super excited to test out a new and improved condi shatter build, but I think my first priority of testing will be a tanky-ish build that I’ve been toying with for a while now.
I like to still have somewhat of an offensive impact on my Mesmer builds, but you can go full on tank with a settlers/clerics amulet instead of soldier’s.

Yeah I was thinking Knights myself, then take the GS GM and BD to build up Might stacks as you’re tanking. Between Phantasm damage, GS damage (BM+MS) and the occasional shatter spike, I think you can actually still put out pretty decent damage while also being really hard to kill in even 2v1 or worse odds.
I agree with you, with MtD kittened up beyond all recognition, I think my first priority in testing tonight will be on this kind of a of a support/tank build.
Or of course the PU Power Shatter looks like fun too. Taking into consideration the careful way in which MtD was axed, I’m guessing though that PU will of course be nerfed back down to 1s added duration soon, only they will leave the extra buff in. Effectively nerfing it to worse then it was before this patch! Go ANet! )
