Well since the mesmer class has evolved away from the original GW1 mesmer into an Illusion/shatter and/or illusionary duelist class, can we have masks as a skill category rather than mantra.
Mantra doesnt seem to fit the whole illusionist ideal message I seem to be getting based on how the mesmer is played as the moment. It’s actually closer to a ritualist motiff since, err you know, when you’re doing a ritual you’re humming mantras?
Idk, breaks my immersion I guess, when i’m trying to fool someone into thinking the clone is me then im behind him shouting a mantra effectively telling them ignore that one that’s doinkittenage. I’m over here! Let me shout a mantra to help you find me.
Mask would synergize with shatter mechanic rather than compete with it.
Example of a mask mechanic:
Mask of Anguish: when worn, improves the mesmer’s power
Shatter: shatter your mask when you use a shatter skill inflicting additional damage
Mask of Resolve: when worn improves the mesmer’s toughness
Shatter: shatter your mask of resolve when you shatter removing 4 conditions
Mask of concentration: when worn improves the mesmers precision
Shatter: shatter your mask of concentration when you use a shatter skill gainining stability for 3 secs
Mask of Robust: improves the mesmer’s vitality
Shatter: shatter your mask gaining regeneration
Elite- Mask of Illusion: when activated, clones you create deal full damage for 10 secs/5 hits or whatever balance issue you have.
Or maybe you shatter them on your own rather than it shatter with the F1-F4. I’m just a shatterholic.
Im not saying you so it now. Maybe in an expansion or when you decide to add ritualist as a profession. Then they can have the mantras for all I care.
Something like that or something better. With the array of utility the mesmer a full mask build (like a full signet warrior) wouldnt be mainstream as mesmer without at least 1 glamour or manipulation is meh.
TL;DR mantra doesnt fit the whole idea you are trying to convey as a mesmer.
