Since when did you exploring and farming have competitive aspects?
hey china im sorry but if your posting this you obviously dont understand the strength of the mesmer and where its real power lies. I’m not giving secrets because i took me a while to understand the class as a whole but try again don’t just assume they need speed boosts

You haven’t farmed Orr have you?
Didn’t know mashing the attack button required movement.
Oh sorry somebody wasn’t paying attention to Easymode, everybody stop what you are doing.
What were you saying Easymode?
Was mainly wondering why you equated tab4tab4tab4tab4tab4tab4tab with exploration.
Could you extrapolate?

I didn’t and I have no idea what you are talking about.
@pknight: If in your book the Mesmer’s “real power” “as a whole” has to involve moving that slower around the map than any other profession (or, for that mapper, having to make sacrifices in runes, items or weapons loudout like no other profession has to), I think you’re the one who’s assuming things.
I’m still wondering what the heck the issue here is. Why are you worried about being forced to explore slower on Mesmer? I rather like the trade off, given every other utility I have in my possession.
Not that I’m against an adjustment, it’s just that I’m not concerned over the stated relevance of this issue. As far as getting rid of the Signet of Inspiration, I’d question that. The active on it is to spread all boons onto the party, and that can be amazing with Lyssa runes.
Woulden’t mind it having a trait that increased movement spead base off of readied mantras. We could tie it into existing mantra traits, as well as other buffs to Mantras in general.
@Kalar: If being forced to explore slower doesn’t impact your gaming experience, great. Personally I don’t see any trade-off at all, because that would have to be something so powerful and unique to Mesmers that it justifies having to do virtually everything slower than all other professions. And what would that be?
And nobody said anything about getting rid of the whole Signet of Inspiration or the active ability connected to it. Just the swiftness buff in the random list, in exchange for a passive that offers +10% movement speed.
Speed-related traits would be nice, as well, seeing as we don’t have anything there, but that’d be icing on the imagined cake. I really think a slot skill that can be used no matter what build or weapon set (like every other profession has access to) should be priority at this point.
To be honest, I’d rather any changes get tacked on to the traits than to the utility slots. We’ve already got a lot of things competing for those three slots already.

Thing is: You can swap slot skills with two clicks anytime, anywhere. Changing traits is a little more demanding in time and gold.
Changing traits you are not specced for is up to 3s 50c at 80 and never goes higher. Changing the 10/20/30 trait you are specced for is as easy as picking the new trait, just like changing utility slots.

I’m struggeling by your definition of “Everything”
I can burst down an enemy at fairly impressive speeds, because I can engage with my phantasems at range.
Swordsman, Duelists, Illusionary Leap+Swap, Blurred Frenzy, Shatter is higher than 100b burst if done right, and you can use decoy and Mirror images for a second shatter still too.
Mesmers also have the best distraction vs both AI and players in the game as we have both clones and sealth for PC, and both our clones and phantasms distract AI. Not to mention our crowd and area control (We bunker nearly as well a Guardian.)
We are also the most versitile of classes. We can completely change our role depending on our trait specs. Damage, Support, Control? We have it all in abundence. We are walking swiss army knife that doubles as an army of paper tigers.
The trade off for all of this is that we are methodical. Our start up is slower, our travel is slower. All of this revolves around an air of premeditation that allows us to bypass this issue. Enemy trying to flee? Magic Bullet iBerserker, Sigil of Domination, etc.
Know you may have to retreat or return to a location you’re passing by or are at? Portal Entre.
Traversing the world for the first time is longer, I conceeded that, but this isn’t an issue for me because of all of the above. I spend my time in PvP with a Focus, Signet of Inspiration and Blink anyways. (Sword/Focus and Staff for maximum single point DPS and protection/boon abuse.) So I get the most out of what travel we get.
But I don’t feel a loss against other classes because they can move faster. They’re a different feel and experience than Mesmer, and I don’t begrudge it traveling slower.
a bunch of silly stuff
It’s not about power or strength or balance. It’s about getting from point a to point b and the out of combat annoyance of it. We mesmers aren’t drastically stronger then other classes in combat but instead they are pretty balanced with the good classes they have a lot of interesting combat utility but….
None of anything in combat has anything to do with getting from point A to point B out of combat.
It’s been said 87 times but people keep bringing combat up. Versatile but balanced in combat means nothing when talking about getting from point a to point b and exploring around.
People need to stop bringing combat into this. If I say out of combat experience feels slower then other classes and drags things out due to movement issues and you talk about combat I think you are missing the point.
If there was an issue where we were better then other classes in combat then balancing it by making mesmers more annoying out of combat would be completely idiotic from a balance standpoint so I don’t think that is the intention.
I’m just going to assume the people who bring up memser abilities in combat in response to issues with a mesmers exploring and getting from point a to point b while not in combat are illiterate. The same as if I talked about a dislike squash and you told I you like kittys so my liking of things levels balanced out.

Back in BW3 I fell in love with signet of inspiration because it would periodically grant me swiftness as I ran around exploring.
That feel when I got 8 skillpoints after release and found out they broke my favorite mesmer skill. Instead of giving a random boon every 10 seconds as it still states in the description (and how it was during beta) it now gives a random boon after being in combat for 10 seconds (meh).
After dropping mesmer for a few weeks hoping for bug fixes that still haven’t arrived, I leveled up warrior and ranger. The movespeed signet for ranger was nice, but I eventually dropped it. Signet of Rage for warrior grants an absurd duration swiftness and minimal downtime with traits which makes running around the map feel great. I am not a fan of using the offhand weapon slot just for a speed buff while solo, but the AoE buffs from ranger made it a decent trade-off during WvW and DE farming.
Focus offhand for mesmer is a completely unattractive option to me so I would like to see signet of inspiration buffed back to a useful level.
Shhh, Portal is useless for exploration. The only thing that matters in this game is running in a straight line across the whole map.
Portal is bad for solo exploration, you’re correct. However, I do find it quite useful for friends if they need a hand getting up to a vista or something.
So, in retrospect, everyone should slow down for the mesmers because they help your exploration.
