Might

Might is an exceptionally strong boon, currently providing a total of 875 power and condition damage if stacked to its full potential. This makes might one of the biggest single sources of damage enhancement available to players. With this update, we’ll slightly tone down the overall benefit of might as well as target a few specific items that augment might gain.

Might: The power and condition damage provided by this boon have been reduced from 35 per stack to 30.

Confusion

Along with the change to might, we are also looking at the confusion condition in PvE. Confused creatures generally don’t swing as often, and the effects of the condition can feel a bit lackluster when they hit. To this end, we’ll improve the damage of confusion in PvE only.

Confusion: The effect of condition damage on confusion has been increased by 33% in PvE only. This change does not affect PvP or WvW.

Items

We’ll tone down the effects of a couple of specific items with the potential to far exceed the role they’re expected to fill.

Superior Sigil of Battle: The amount of might granted from this item has been reduced from 3 stacks to 2 stacks. The duration remains at 20 seconds.
Major Sigil of Battle: The amount of might granted from this item has been reduced from 2 stacks to 1 stack. The duration remains at 20 seconds.
Rune of the Nightmare: The duration of fear applied from the sixth piece of this rune has been reduced from 2 seconds to 1 second. Its recharge has been reduced from 90 seconds to 60 seconds.

While not directly Mesmer Related, these things apply to a lot of our builds. Thoughts?

Confusion Change Is kittened, PVE is braindead as it is, and conditions are really bad for PVE, even adding 100% to damage would not make a difference, What is need for this change again?

Nightmare Runes honestly it is a buff, pair it with CI, now you have an extra source of interrupt every 60 secs. Fear Duration does not matter it will only be used to trigger the 1.5 to 2 sec Immobilize.

Laughtable change for confusion. First I thought it was +30% damage but by reading it again they increase the condition ratio of confusion from 0.15 to 0.2 … hehe … sad.
Conditions are bad beacuse they get annihilated by weaker conditions (bleeding most of the time) and others won’t stack at all with allies (burn). And the 2nd reason is: not enoguh high armor enemies.

For my pug strength mes equip, the sigil of battle change is gonna hurt a lot – from now to later, 9 stacks à 35 compared to 6 stacks à 30 makes a difference of 135 power.

At least TW gained a 30 sec CDR

Loooove the reduced CD on Nightmare runes. It’s my favorite condition rune to use, and works well with CI even as an additional interrupt plus longer duration on CI condis!

With all the nerfs to might, maybe you peeps might want to check out Maim???

I wish confusion did more in PvP. shrug I think the only reason they’re afraid is because of perplexity runes in wvw roaming. I wish they wouldn’t balance the game around a sub-format of a game mode. It’s counter-productive. Bring back Glamours!! <3

A nerf to might is a nerf to the most (some say only) viable tpvp build we have, which is dps shatter. I’m being cheeky when I say, as an alternative, people should check out condi shatter.

So we do even less dmg to thieves now who generate significantly less might on a majority of builds.

OMG why so panic? Shatter mesmer has 3-6 stacks of might (which is less then other classes), doesn’t use nerfed sigils and after patch has more advantages vs cele builds

Phantrupt Asskicker reks, doesnt suffer thieves, and has zero might involved. Not worried one bit :p

GS 2 can give you max 6 stacks and only at close distance. At range you will receive 0

Unless you use weps and traits that don’t ever generate might, less dmg is still less dmg.

Which I realize -5 per stack isn’t that terrible consdering we don’t go super high… But it’s unneeded on a class that already suffers due to its lack of damage output comparative to the metas.

Either way I hope we get buffs to cover this, unless an indirect nerf is intentional. /gg a-net

The only thing this effects is my interrupt build. Everything else I play is untouched by this change. Hmm

This is a necessary nerf, but one that inadvertently hurts the most viable Mesmer builds.

Hmm, I might use nightmare runes with CI now.

I didn’t like the 90s cooldown before, but 60s is nice.
