Patch - Time Warp Nerf

Only in PVP and possibly in WvW. Lets not be disingenuous here.
On the flip side, more shatter nerfs please esp in PVP seem like a nice counter argument. Then I can tell the PVPers to adapt.
TW nerf was warranted, as it used trivialize a lot of content. I’m glad they did it.
A tad shorter CD would have been nice to compensate, though, so that we can switch elite without waiting for CD.

You’re extremely ignorant if you don’t think the TW nerf affected PvPers too. It was (and still is) a tide turner for point captures and in WvW people coordinate dropping them on rams to take down doors faster.

And not in PvE?
I think you missed the 5 mesmer fast run posted not long ago on the forum. They just quickness killed the bosses for a 10min run.
Server : Anvil Rock (Since Release!) [SOLO]
All the people who adore Time warp either do dungeon or pvp. In Wvw (my main playground) Tw is ‘just good’ (i’m not kidding here, in the chaos of the battle, the full potential of quickness goes incredible easy gone, and with only 50% boost, mesmer staff auto attack, attacks 2x more then normal.) That’s in best case scenario a 2k damage boost because an elite. (other players ofc can take advantage too, but it’s very random, and they might only get 2k out of it as well). You can Speedclear Cof all you want, you can pvp all you want, in wvw time warp is mediocre now. And I don’t like moa morph, and the cloack one is only good for roaming, so i’m pulled away from mesmer again I guess. Ele/Necro elites are way better. Like tornado of ele. Or Necro plague form.
In wvw it’s is massive better then a quickness field. It has FASTER CD. STABILITY (better then almost anything in wvw), and it repeatly stuns multiple enemies (massive CC), this skill will turn the tables in a battle, massive better then Time Warp. And for the pvp crybabies, ofc quickness is OP in a 1vs 1 fight (old quickness x2 speed). I don’t disagree with that. But they should have split this decision from pve/wvw. Almost all other profs have at least one elite affected by traits that affect one kind (4 total thus) utility skills. Thief = basilisk venom (many trait), warrior Signet of Rage, Ele Glyph of elementals, necromancer Flesh golem etc etc etc
No excuse anymore for not giving ‘hide mounts’-option
No thanks to unidentified weapons.

Which bosses would that be? Is it HOTW P3 mini bosses because I was in a five mesmer party and we didnt kill a quaggan within a minute. 5 TWs doesnt compensate for a lack of warrior DPS.

Actually Illusionary Warden is used to trivalize much a lot of PvE content. But I am sure you arent really aware of that. If you are according to your logic, its ok to nerf it too. As for all the ppl saying they trivialize content – pls quote me your specific examples outside of COF P1/P2.

Thats my point. People complaining about TW / Quickness OPness in PVP which results in a nerf which is not warranted in PvE at all.
Quickness needed a nerf in PvP. Too easy to burst somebody down in less than 3 seconds.
While this is likely true, pvp is not the sum and total of this game. If the goal was to reduce the likelihood of players getting bursted within a few seconds, then that does not require them to keep the cool down on time warp so ridiculously long. The effect has been halved….the cool down should have been halved as well, in my opinion. Drastically reducing the cool down, in combination with reducing the effects, would still prevent players from getting bursted too quickly and therefore still achieve the desired effect. Having the cool down around 1.5 to 2 minutes is still a lifetime in pvp and a significant downtime in pve.
I’m starting to see what people are are saying about ANET and patching mesmers….has there actually been a patch where mesmers were not actually nerfed in some way? I’ve only been playing one for about 2-3 months and I’m hard pressed to recall anything but nerfs to my set up. Its getting pretty tiresome to see every nerf patch based on pvp whining. Even the “state of the game” videos they do are all about pvp….and the resultant pvp nerfs directly affect pve. Don’t get me wrong, I think TW probably deserved a nerf in the quickness department too, but the cool down needs to come down drastically if it is now half of what it used be in effectiveness.
50% faster attack/skill speed is still very good considering Time Warp effects 5 people total and its just one of our tools. We have friendly/enemy boon removals, a reflect, portal, a pull/push, Veil, and other goodies.
The reason they nerfed it in PvE as well is because you should bring players to a dungeon based on skill more than utility and you shouldn’t need it to beat certain fights.
PvP it was just dumb. I’ve been calling for a nerf on it months ago.

Better a half loaf than the full loaf you used to enjoy eh? At the rate we are going, people are going to say at least they didnt nerf it 75% or 100%.
You mean every party you were in, guild or PUG, everything always ran smoothly without a hitch, all your teammates are always skilled players and u wont need it to rez ppl, do a desperate burst to survive. And if you dont need it to beat encounters, then u can always swap to something else like Moa for example for giggles. Just be sure u do it in a party of guildies.

Well, not to toot my own horn or anything, but I’m actually good at this game, so I can happily say that not once have I ever needed time warp to successfully complete a pve encounter.
Now, time warp happens to be our elite with the best utility in most situations, which is why I use it for most situations. Having it nerfed, however, does not impact our pve ability more than a minimal amount, and impacts our total team utility an even smaller amount.
If you really think that time warp is the only thing we bring to a party; you are very, very bad at this class.

No its not the only thing we bring to a party. And no, its not that you are so good, its because you dont pug with average players in very difficult dungeons or bad players in normal ones. As to how good I am as a mesmer in PVE EX COF, well u have to ask my teammates whether I am very bad or not. Unlike you, I dont toot my own horn.
I find it strange that mesmers are so vociferously defending a nerf especially by irrationally saying that its no big deal. If its no big deal, then there is no necessity for a nerf in the first place. Clearly its a big deal in PVP but not so much in PvE that it “trivialises” content.
Can’t say didn’t see this coming, this elite was way too strong in both PvE and PvP.
Retired Until Expansion or Meaningful Content is Released.

Let me explain to you exactly why it is a big deal in pvp and is not a big deal in pve.
In pvp, quickness has been regarded as overpowered for a long time. A doubling of action speed is simply too good, and everyone knows it. The nerf means a lot less silly burst from warriors and thieves, while the overall group utility of time war kitten till fantastic.
As for pve…well, it’s rather simple. Pve is really easy. Really easy. The only challenging things are vey high level fractals, and Arah (sorta). I’ll be very blunt here and say that if you require time warp to finish a pve encounter, no matter how pathetic your team is, you are a bad Mesmer. Time warp makes things faster, it makes things more convenient. But to make the statement that it is necessary is the height of idiocy. Not every party has a Mesmer, and they do quite fine.

“No matter how pathetic your party is” and PVE is stupidly “easy outside of Arah and high level fracts” would indicate you can actually solo content. Without TW. I marvel at ur godly skillz.
I repeat no big deal in PvE then no nerf in PvE. Blanket nerf because dev doesnt want to code for separate cases then just say so.

Not all content is soloable. Many dungeons have mechanics that make them effectively impossible to solo.
That being said, there are many bosses I can solo. The thing is, my solo ability against those bosses doesn’t rely on time warp. It can’t. The duration is too low and the cooldown is too high for relying on it as a boss soloig tool to make any sense.
As I mentioned in the other thread that you’re clogging up, pve and wvw are connected, and so code that affects wvw necessarily catches pve as well.

Sorry I am not a Puandro or Wenthospu mesmer, but I guess 95% of the playerbase isn’t as well.
As for clogging u could always ask the mod to merge the threads.
Seriously lasts 10 seconds, a 210 Cooldown adn its not 50% quickness and its crap! the only good mesmer elite skill thank you. At least do something with moa morph
I think this change was overdue for PvE and PvP. It was the best group elite of all professions and it needed a balance change. I’ll now switch elites depending on the situation instead of keeping time warp there all the time. Mind you, I still find I’m using it more than moa and mass invis.
I’m happy about the quickness nerf overall.
As for all the ppl saying they trivialize content – pls quote me your specific examples outside of COF P1/P2.
Arah path 4 – with one Time Warp you could bring Simin down from 50% before she went invisible, completely trivializing the fight.
This skill was way OP in PVE, and the nerf does not surprise me at all.

You can do that without Time Warp. Not to mention that fight was trivial to begin with.
Time Warp, and Haste in general, in PvE was not OP at all. It simply allowed you to complete content faster. If you couldn’t do it without TW, you probably couldn’t do it with TW.

I like how some people think using a skill to help beat an encounter is called “trivializing” the content. If that the case, I would say Reflection skills trivializes the Fractals and hence according to some people’s logic, worthy of a nerf. I mentioned in another post not everyone is Puandro or Wentospu.
I do have to admit, I always find the arguments for blatantly overpowered skills and classes amusing. TW is still good, adjust and move on.
I will agree however that mesmer needs an elite skill that is on a shorter cooldown and reliably useful however. It just doesn’t need to be time warp.

Not in PvE. Please quote an example of how OP prepatch TW outside of COF that it enables you to trivialize the content. This is the 10th time I am probably asking.
As for moving on, I think I will move on from GW2 because I am unsure what massively “positive” changes to the game will occur in the future.
Folks, be careful, we don’t want to disturb it. Here we have a fine specimen of the unique Ferrous Cranus, renowned for its unwavering stubbornness and inability to form coherent arguments. While we may all wish it to truly act on its threats to leave the game, the Ferrous Cranus rarely is able to resist the lure of continued obstruction in the forums.

Been a long time since I’ve seen someone else reference a Flame Warriors Archetype. TY sir, you warm my heart.

The main difficulty with Simin is to get sparks very quickly. If you use Time Warp you don’t need to bother with the sparks, which completely bypasses the challenge of that fight. If that is not trivializing the fight, then I don’t know what trivialize means to you.
I mentioned in another post not everyone is Puandro or Wentospu.
I think you mean Wethospu.
200 seconds cooldown is WAY to much for a lousy 10 secs quickness.
“Lousy”
Where is that coming from?
Dear Gods, folks. Don’t some of you see the logical upside here? Let’s break it down a bit:
What are the three main things Mesmer-haters whinge like soiled toddlers about?
(Mind you, these things are also the reasons folks say we need 0 major class issues FIXED)
1.) Portal (has eaten some nerfs)
2.) Time Warp (Has eaten a hardcore nerf, along with all Quickness)
3.) Shatter Damage (which has had the major “bug” at least altered, via .25 sec internal C/D)
Now, is it not logical that there are no longer bloody ginormous roadblocks between
us, and REAL bugfixes/QoL improvments? Goodness, folks. This can end up working out for the lot of us. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got my eyes on some downright proper speed buffs … or interesting future skill options.
Other 80s: Any but Warrior
HAHA! Good points, Advent, but posters still complain about shatter damage. Hopefully, the re-balancing of lesser builds will lessen spotlight on shatters before any nerf bats start to swing at it.
Sadly, I think it will be a long time, maybe never, before class bugs get their due attention. Likely Anet will continue to address them at their current pace and efficiency in favor of ever more new PVE content.
