Hello, I’m a returning player, decided to switch to playing Mesmer. I would like to play something like a lockdown or support mesmer/chrono so I wanted to know if this play style is still viable in the current meta. Don’t really care much for PvP or WvW. Please suggest something!

Since you don’t care for PvP or WvW, I’m assuming you want something for PvE? Are we talking dungeons, raids, fractals, open world, or all/any of the above?

The short answer is…You’re in luck!
In fact, the only commonly viable mesmer PvE builds are support-oriented; designed to drastically boost the abilities of your teammates. Not so lucky on lockdown though, that’s not a thing in PvE at all, not even a little bit.

I was thinking raids, but I still need the gear a just general familiarity with the skills. So for now dungeons and fractals, later – raids.
