[Request] Mesmer Weapons

Not too sure about LB/SB though, but a mainhand pistol would be a dream come true as my Mesmer would finally be able to wield Lyss and Ilya together (as it was meant to be).

A team charged with fixing unexplained mishaps does not have to be the same team charged with designing content which does not have to be the same team implementing the designed content which does not have to be the same team testing the implemented content.
So fixing unexplained mishaps would not impede development, implementation and testing of other content for the game.

Quite honestly, longbow and shortbow make absolutely no sense for mesmer. Mainhand pistol is the obvious choice, and then daggers (either ranged or close-combat) would fit far far better than longbow and shortbow.

this isnt wow. the “team” may not be as big a team as you think. if more then 2 people agreed to these bad choices i would be shocked +no responses ever to any posts + no fixes to mistakes they cause. the issue with a game that is free to play (even though they sell gems in game) the bulk of thier money comes from buying the actual game.. once you are in the game there is less incentive to care if you are happy. they are going to ride the game of the year for as much as its worth and let this puppy die.
I think the devs don’t respond in the profession forums because it won’t solve anything and it’s likely to cause more drama. It’s already obvious that half of their decisions aren’t popular. Personally, I’ve lost all faith in them and struggle to be subjective about any decision they make. However, it is clear to me that having them try to explain their reasons in these forums is like Adam Orth defending “always online” consoles. The results of such actions are likely to be twice as ugly too.
As for the matter at hand, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Mesmers relish in being unorthodox. The fact that the greatsword is our longest ranged weapon is proof of such. In that regard, every weapon is viable for proliferation to mesmers.

Granted, there is the possibility of new bugs being accompanied with the implementation of a new main hand weapon; like there is the possibility of new bugs in both old and new content every time a patch it brought forth. So should the development team just sulk in a corner and do nothing because it might potentially cause a bug? Ofcourse not. If we lived by that mentality we’d still be freezing our butts off whilst grunting in caves.
Seeing that the Mesmer only has 2 mainhand options (reduced to only 1 for many because of the recent patch) whilst having 4 offhand options, it does make you wonder why there is such an imbalance in choice.
Bring in the 2 separate ilussionary pistols Lyss and Ilya, factor in the strange position in which the Pistol is listed in the Weapon Skill list and I have a theory that ANet already had designed a mainhand pistol and the intention to allow Mesmers to use it both as a mainhand and an offhand. Why it was not there at launch? Only the devs could tell… and I’m not sure if Colin has read my memo.
But seeing that they already have a full set of animations, visual effects and sound effects (thanks to the offhand pistol and iDuelist); implementation of 3 new weapon skills for a mainhand pistol would be very feasible.
And as for fixing bugs, they have a team for that who balance skills (in bulk) and release them in a patch almost every month.
But in order to get this thread back on track, I’ll just write:

My point is… The Mesmer needs everything working properly before we bring in new things, iZerker, Illusionary Elasticity with illusions, Illusions inheriting our condition damage…. Just a few things that need addressed but never ever do.

agreed im not a bow person at all.glamour and portals and clones make total sense and yes so did confusion. daggers would be cool tough i could see that.

To be fair, I could see Scepter being removed for a MH Pistol, but that’d need delicate handling of existent gear.
Normal items are easy, but what about people fielding Meteorlogicus? I doubt they’d be happy to get Quip, even though I think that Pistol absolutely fits a Mesmer.
It’d make us a very uncommon caster though. I mean each Caster right now has their sort-of “weird” weapon loadout.
Elementalists with their dagger-dagger melee set, we with dual-swords and sword-pistol, Necros with their Axe and their dagger-dagger sorta-melee set.
Still, I think Pistols could work. But I wouldn’t want more weapons right now. We have tons enough imbalances with the current ones, please don’t add more.
