I often forced to get off points cause of CC’s and pressure.

Now,I love lockdown build very much and trying to use a build that gives a decent dmg but alot of point control.

I am even considering going full mantra with stability/stun break mantra instead of blink.
Any changes,or “WTF is this cr4p” are all welcome ! please hit me with all the guns you have!

Personally I wouldn’t take resolve and I’d switch to a standard 44600 lockdown set-up, I also would switch melandru for traveller or pack runes. My reasoning? Traveller runes and staff 2 provide amazing mobility, for example at forest I can stealth blink and forward phase retreat out the side gate and with traveller runes I can get to their point or boss quicker than any other class (excluding a thief with a target).

Generally I find with Mesmer you should kite and position yourself so that you don’t get hit by conditions, or block, daze or blind their skills. Until you feel comfortable doing that I’d still recommend null field as it boon strips and cleanses, but also because it is Aoe and you can help your team mates out with it. Mantra of distraction is fine to stop heals so I’d keep that.

So I think you need to somewhat clarify more exactly what you’re actually trying to accomplish with this build. You say that you often get forced off of points due to cc and pressure, but are you referring to team fights? Are you aiming to have this build able to stick to a point in a team fight then?

This build is too glassy to hold a point in a team fight. In a 1v1, you can hold a point using most any build if you play it properly. Overall, this just appears to be a pretty normal 1v1 interrupt build that just happens to take melandru runes, and those won’t really massively change how it plays.

Yeah, you have to be a bit more specific to what your goals are. Do you wanna sit on home? Help out mid? Just be really efficient at capturing/holding?

Stab mantra could help you out here, but you’d have to swap out Blink for it, and I really wouldn’t advise trying to charge 3 mantras on point. Null Field may be a better replacement for MoResolve since you’re going to need some ability to strip boons, hell iDisenchanter may even be your best option if you’re aiming for single-target skirmishes.

Sword/Sword is an interesting choice. It has good killing power, but falls short to Focus/Greatsword when it comes to wrestling people off of a point. In fact, GS/Staff could potentially be a better set for you.

One interesting thing Warlord once came up with: A bunkerish lockdown using Soldier’s Amulet, he said it worked decently for him at the time it could be a concept you’d be interested in exploring.

If you wanted to build a pure point holder, what about something like this:

The phantasmal defender would have 34k health, and that plus moa would let you hold a 1v2 for a decent amount of time. The reflects from warden could pretty useful on maps like temple or foefire where people like to sit back and snipe. And at least sword would give you decent boon stripping and the invul every 9.5s.

Although, if you really just want to hold points, I think a guard, turret engie, or bunk hambow would be much more effective.

I’m going to retry the Mantra build I ran after the rune patch for a while. I made some adjustments due to IE, though. I can imagine Mesmers bunkering with a similar set up.

http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/?fhAQNArfWl0npKtdqxQNUrRSwRY2gnT+thy24yA-TJRHwADOFAV2fIZZAAPBAA

  • Frequent heals due to Restorative Mantras which also support allies
  • Frequent access to burning through runes for additional pressure
  • High condition removal capabilities which partly affects allies
  • Maximum use of IE which partly benefits allies
  • Stability for staying on point or covering your heal
  • Mirror Images as emergency stunbreak or damage boost through clones

Should be a pain to fight. However, very susceptible to area damage. Hopefully Debilitating Dissipation partly makes up for that.

Thank you guys for all the replies!
I want to be able to hold a point with or without temmates, mostly 1v1.
I usually can fight on point with the usual lockdown against hambows and d/d elems, but I wanted somthing more,to be able to stay long enough even in 1v2 hambow warriors on a point.

I dont want to hold a point in the whole duration of the match,i want to play as a memser, but when the time comes when you need to hold a point you’ll do that.

@Chaos, I think I will change MoRe for NullField since it is my usual condi cleanser aswell. One more thing,gs and focus are good for decap,I planning on holding a point, but OH sword give me access to a nice dmg block or daze if needed(love using it on thieves).

I run the same 2-6-6 traite/skill setup and this is my experience.

First, I’d recommend you switch to Focus for offhand. It just brings so much utility.
- Part of holding a point is getting the other guy OFF point.
- Adds mobility to get around map in sPvP.
- Into the Void another way to “interrupt” with BI and CI traits
-Nice dmg spike chain when you get it.. iWarden Cast>PowerLock Interrupt>CI Immobilize>iSwap to Enemy(another immobilize)>Blurred Frenzy

Even with Harmonious Mantras and Mantra of Resolve, conditions are your downfall. I’ve been using Hoelbrak runes instead of Melandru that you specified. And still it doesn’t seem to be enough. So I add in Sigil of Purification or Generosity on at least one of my weaponsets.

Its more a reflection of the current meta and not so much the build.. other professions can build to apply and apply and apply conditions(talking about you Necros, Rangers).. and there really isn’t anything you can do about it. Mesmer has a lot of different ways to handle conditions, but unless you devoted all your utility bar to it, you will find in most cases its just not enough.

I’ll sometimes switch to Barbarian Amulet in place of Berzerker to try to hold off some of those conditions longer.. But its just so scary how quickly conditions fly around in this game. Its really starting to turn me off of sPvP.
