It’s pretty insane to me when a company takes this long to look at a problem and still has no idea why it’s missing. I understand that game code can be a real mess, but really? No idea? Makes me sad when I read that coming from the devs because to me that means one of two things: Either they really don’t know what is going on with their code or they haven’t invested any real time looking into the issue despite them saying it’s a high priority. Both of those options make me very sad.

Does anyone know if their current team inherited the game code from another developer or another set of designers?

I have no clue… Honestly only a few things were touched with the last mesmer patch… And in those things they were able to hotfix certain things but completely ignore others… Maybe just rewrite the entire code for izerker… idk how long that would take but if they can’t figure it out by now then just do something completely different

I am not sure, but it came with the last big patch.. so question:
Can’t they undo the entire patch on their test server and look if the bug disappears miraculously?
And if yes then just go through every included update and test its consequence for the berserker?

And didn’t anyone complain that the warrior (?) was also affected by that last patch?

We know the last time something went wrong both berserker and a warrior skill were connected? Or does my brain there plays a trick on me…. hmm..

so yes. i do need to farm another set of gear and hop on the fotm staff train. it seems that the torch would have been harder to fix then this since they not only had to fix the double blast mistake + the cooldown resetting error but they also had to not revert the fix to the weapon that was intended.

hmm that video about the berzerker missing the golem bug seems misleading because even when the izerker hits every time the damage is still reduced. the izerker does not miss the lions arch training dummies now or before patch but the damage is still reduced. i know the izerker cant crit on those dummies so it isnt a scaling with crit it is a base damage reduction. the missing in the video may be an added issue but not the damage reduction issue.

If it was the other way round (i.e. doing double damage or some other thing that gave you an advantage) you can be sure that they would have fixed it within hours of the patch that broke it.

Anyway… happy thoughts.
I just recently got my mesmer to 80 (created the character about 3-4 weeks ago) so I’ve never known a working iZerker, lol.
It’s an awesome class… even with this limitation, so can’t wait for them to fix this skill.

I’ve only been playing the game for a couple of months, so I can’t say how much this issue is just one in a series.

But I think most developers really care about making code that works, and generally when bugs don’t get fixed right away, it’s because either the priority is not that high or because the change has some issues. In this case, it sounds like this code may be complex and tied to other behaviors (as someone pointed out issues with berserker and warrior at the same time previously). So changing code like that can be tricky, and it can be very hard to test – especially if it’s a difficult condition to reliably reproduce.

I certainly see cases where my berserker does the damage I’m expecting, so that probably means the issue is intermittent.

I’m not saying just accept everything without comment, but every developer I’ve ever met wants their code to work well and people to enjoy their product.

I’m generally not someone who vents often, but the comment from the devs leaves something to be desired. The bug still exists, but they close the post for it because people are reminding them that it isn’t fixed? The excuse of “bumping is preventing us from seeing other pertinent issues” is amazing… it’s called a scroll button on the mouse. It allows you to see unread forum topics.

I understand that this game is amazingly complex and things break, but closing a bug topic because you’re sick of hearing from your players is just silly. I’m relatively sure that’s not the impression they meant to give, but they should probably have someone proofread their responses before they post them. Kinda like having someone test their code before fielding it in a patch.

Edit: In before infraction and on topic… I haven’t seen the zerker missing, only the apparent redux in damage. Doesn’t appear to be an intended nerf, so it might be tied to some other ability (from another class perhaps?) that they reduced the damage in??

Leaves a sour taste in your mouth for sure. I have seen both issues happening, obviously the damage has been reduced but I have also seen it missing some of it’s hits.

Has anyone else noticed that sometimes the phantasm is holding a one handed sword, or maybe is the 2h model being used as a 1h? Makes the spinning animation very weird to look at because the sword is tucked close to his body.

who thought that one month aint enough to fix this issue. second time in 4 month this phantams is bugged.

i can only say if this bug would happen to warrior whirlwind or thief backstab it would be hotixed in a week

closing bugreports when they bug isnt solved is the next fail

thx for buffing 1 spell of 2 hand which i will see ltr if its worth but it will surely not make up for the loss of zerker dmg

What I do not understand is:
They can hotfix other things pretty quickly, why can’t they give a temporary fix to the berserker?
Especially because he is buggy AGAIN….
Not sure, but wouldn’t that be better than nothing? Let say they temporarily give him a 10% damage buff (not an exact number, just an idea) als long as it needs them to finally fix the berserker..

Cannot really understand why they leave us with such a notice and ignorance…

At least having the thread open allowed updates (ha, like there were updates) to be posted. With no bug thread and ANet’s infamous trend of not communicating well with its player base, we’ll never find out what’s going on with the attempt to fix the issue.

Somehow, without ANet being prodded, we’re supposed to believe they’re going to stealth-fix the problem? I guess we should get used to not knowing what’s going on with the problem and accept that is just the way things are.

I can understand that the problem is difficult to track down. My issue isn’t with the devs searching through thousands of line of code to try to find one bug, and that being hard for them to do. Their handling of the bug thread, now… that’s a bigger issue, and a bigger disappointment, to me.

i think the problem of the phantasm not hitting isn’t actually a bug, i’ve been lvling a warrior (lvl 46 so far) and is pretty common for me to miss completely when using whirlwind, sometimes i hit once, sometimes not even once, the problem is, this attack relays too heavily on positioning… the lower damage i agree that is a bug, but the missing hits, sadly, isn’t

I actually don’t think the skills is bugged. It hits up to 4 times in the path of the whirl.

Say the “-” represent length units and the “x” represent the points along the total distance were damage occurs. If the “^” is a player and each “whirl” or “x” only hits if the player is within say 5 “-” than on that diagram up there he would only receive 2 of the 4 hits. The only way the berserker could hit the person all 4 times is if they are running away from the berserker in the same path of the whirlwind. Thats how I always understood it anyways. Hell if im wrong Anet could use this as an explanation and call it a “feature” XD.

The thing is that I don’t care for pvp (but I also read this in the pvp forum, too and these guys talk crazy stuff sometimes xD), I just want a reliable and powerful berserker in pve.
:-(

Zerk does not need to be nerfed and he also doesn’t need to be buffed, but at least he shall work properly again.

the problem of zerker isnt really that connected to hitting… his base damage was nerfed by 1/3. even if every hit were to land on a target the damage would be a fraction of what it was pre patch. repeatedly stating that the issue is an issue of missing is just confusing the actual problem . every one of his hits has had its damage reduced. if you want to say that missing + the damage reduction is a double nerf to our weapon then that can be argued but the main nerf was a straight damage nerf to the individual hits.

imo this is a intentional nerf.. the way anet has responded with nothing. no followup at all, not a comment or “we have isolated” or “have some ideas” nothing. they got caught trying to stealth nerf something and are now just brushing people off and hope they forget about it. ive stopped playing gw2 at this point waiting for anet to get thier stuff together and fix some of the basics.

It’s not intentional… they’re working on it… they just won’t know how to fix it until they figure out what went wrong with zerker. I do miss my mes’s izerker as well, but staff isn’t bad alternative until they do. It does suck to be more limited with weapon choices for the time being… and there are things on all classes that need to be fixed… and have needed to be fix since launch. These fixes should be top priority… I agree.

stopped playing for now. i check back every once in a while to see if anything is fixed.. ive played mmo since the start of uo and it just seems there is nowhere to play that isnt a complete mess. uo is garbage now because the dev overnerf anyone who can win a 1v1 until you are forced to reroll. and gw2 breaks more things then they fix every patch..

wtb a game as good as uo …. pre kalgon days.
