—[WvW condition build] Omni Spammer—

Hi guys,

Some of you might know the Clone Spammer build I posted a while back. However, given lots of changes have been made since then, that build is somewhat outdated, you can check it out in the original thread here.

This Omni Spammer build is the new and improved build based on the Original Clone Spammer build. It is at its core, still a clone spammer build fully utilizing the 3 key traits: Crippling Dissipation (Domination V), Confusing Combatants (Dueling 25), and Debilitating Dissipation (Chaos V).

The greatest strength of this build lies at its extreme versatility that allows you to switch certain traits to play different roles in WvW, hence the name Omni.

So here’s the link to the build:

My default roaming setup: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fgAQNAraWl0zKq3UzgGbNJipCB3JFQn0RqQpV6Budh5GA-jUCB4iCi0CgUgQEJA5QFRjtMsIasKZJVdDTHTQWKAYmGB-w

Zerg support setup:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fgAQNArdWl0zKqHVzqGbNJipCB3JFM3yRqQpV6Budh0GA-jECB4iCi0Cg0HBKHqIaslhFRjVJLpqbY6YCySBAz0I-w

—Basic playstyle—
The build is based on the idea that you keep creating clones and get your opponent to get trapped in the AoE clone death explosion cycle to inflict conditions while you yourself also put on tons of conditions on them. If they kill your clones, they get punished. If they don’t, you still actively kill your clones (no shattering here) while keep pressuring to get the same effects.

The following posts of mine just go in details about the build (warning: long walls of text).
Appreciate any thoughts and feedbacks from you all.
Thanks and cheers.

—Key stats—

Condition damage is obviously the main offensive stat, the more the better.
Precision should be invested enough to get 40-ish% crit chance.
Health and toughness can be flexible depending on how good you are at using active defense to surive. For me, 19k health to deal with conditions and 1.7k toughness to survive big hit attacks. With these stats, it means this build is quite tanky for an average mesmer build.

—Weapons—

Scepter and Staff synergize very well with this build, thus they are chosen to be the permanent set of weapons.
As for OH, Pistol and Focus both have their places and roles in this build depending on the situation. As a rule of thumb, Pistol works better for single-target (roaming scenario) while Focus provides AoE control over multiple enemies (zerg scenario).

—Gear—

I use Dire weapons, Rabid armor and a mix of rabid/dire trinkets to get a good balance between offensive/defensive stats.
Of course, you can make it simple and go all out with Rabid and get even better condition damage by having higher crit chance.

—Sigils—

Lots of good options here:
- On-crit sigils: I personally use sigils that remove boons and cleanse conditions on me. Sigil of Earth for more bleeds is another appealing option.
- On-swap sigils: nothing synergizes better with this build than Sigil of Energy, those extra dodges will improve both your offense and defense capabilities.
- On-kill sigil: Sigil of Corruption is a no-brainer here.

—Runes—

Personally I can’t live without those Traveler Runes. Having said that, if out-of-combat speed is not really an issue for you, you can go with some other options that will further increase your condition dmg or condition duration. For example: Lyssa, Nightmare, Undead, Perplexity, etc.

—Slot skills—

Any heal skill could work here, so it’s a matter of personal preference.
I use Mirror so that I can run away and heal without getting interrupted.
Mantra of Recovery (with Mender’s Purity trait) can provide a quick burst cleanse to deal with condition spike.
And Ether Feast gives the best amount of health recovery because you will always have 3 illusions out.

For roaming: Decoy, Mirror Images, and Signet of Domination. All these synergize very well with the build providing 2 stun breaks, extra clones, extra condition damage, and 1 solid single-target stun. Mass Invisibility Elite skill will serve you well as a great way to disengage enemy.

For zerging: you might want to support your zerg with glamor skills like Null Field, Feedback, Portal, Veil. Personally I would keep Decoy so that I have at least 1 stun break. Time Warp Elite skill will bring you lots of love from your team.

—Consumables—

I see 3 things to buff here: Condition Damage, Precision, and Condition Duration. So just pick up the food that provides those stat boosts. On a defensive side, you can use Lemongrass if you are going up against really heavy conditions.

—Traits: 10/30/10/20/0—

Crippling Dissipation (Dom V), Confusing Combatants (Duel 25), and Debilitating Dissipation (Chaos V) are obvious choices here since they are the foundation of this build.

Dueling traitline:
- Phantasmal Fury (Dueling II): so phantasm can stack bleeds like crazy.
- Deceptive Evasion (Dueling X): is a no-brainer. It’s just so good.
- Duelist’s Discipline (Dueling IX) if using Pistol, if not then Furious Interruption (Dueling XII) is the way to go.

Inspiration traitline:
- Glamour Mastery (Inspiration II) if using Null Field and other Glamour skills; if not then Mender’s Purity (Inspiration IV)
- Warden’s Feedback (Inspiration VIII) if using Focus, if not then Malicious Sorcery (Inspiration VII)

—In-depth playstyle—

Scepter + OH is your default weaponset, switch to Staff if u need to tank and wait around for CDs.

Normal offensive rotation (1v1 scenario):
Always start the fight with your well-timed block as the enemy recklessly charges their first attack to burst you down meaning they now have Torment. Now with 1,7k condition damage you have, they will hesitate to move and this is when the fun begins. Start spamming clones with Scepter #1 to get their mobility severely hindered.
Positioning your clones is the key here and Crippling assists you with it. I now realise that clones produced near your enemy with Scepter #1 is such a good thing.

I can see this build requires a lot of kiting. But a careless opponent might get perma- crippled and might just blow all condition removal just to catch up with you in battle.
Even better, you have extra ways to lock down your foe in one place with Pistol #5 and Signet of Domination.

How to defend yourself with this build (roaming scenario):

- The confusing factor: the explosions from clone death will make it hard for your enemy to pinpoint the real you while you move around and blend into the clones. This is not to say they can’t distinguish you from the clones, it just means they need to spend some time working on it which gives you the advantage.

- Mobility: with your enemy being crippled, you have superior mobility and can make use of this to kite around them. This will work very well against melee classes. As for ranged classes, you might try the opposite approach, invade their personal space and prevent them from maintaining their distance with your cripple and stun.

- Boons: Perma-vigor: lots of dogdes and lots of clones, enough said. You will have a decent uptime of Regeneration boon thanks to Inspiration 15 trait. Staff #4 and #5 skills will also grant you boons but you need to use these skills wisely because of their high CDs.

- Condition removal: either from the use of Mender’s Purity or Null Field, you have decent protection from conditions.

- Stun breakers: 1 or 2 stun break skills (Decoy, Mirror Images) are plenty to get you out of trouble.

- Shatter skills: while this build doesn’t support the spammy use of shatters, it doesn’t mean you shouldn’t use them when the situation calls for it. F3 or F4 shatter can be a life-saver.

Looks good

Do you feel that Furious Interruption is worth it or is it more of a default option?

I personally would probably drop 5 points out of Duelling and invest it into Chaos for some Protection. Solo you could run a Sword OH instead and switch Phantasmal Fury – which does not contribute that much in a clone spamming build anyway – for Blade Training or Retaliatory Shield.

@ Xaylin: thanks for your suggestion.

Given the trait setup (10/30/10/20/0), if I use Focus OH and run with zerg, Furious Interruption is actually an amazing trait.
But 10/25/15/20/0 like u suggest is definitely not bad with more defense from Chaos 15.

The role of phantasm in my build is surprisingly very helpful. From my experience, fighting against stealthy classes, once they go stealth the flow of your clone spamming will be disrupted; this is when I adjust the playstyle to be a bit more like phantasm build: summon 1 or 2 phantasms to have a lock on the enemy. And thus the need for Phantasmal Fury and Duelist’s Discipline for the CD reduction on pistol skills (in roaming version).

I will tinker a bit with Sword OH and Retaliatory Shield, but given this is a full condition build, I’m not so sure they could work well together.

Thanks again for your feedback.

You’re welcome.

If you use phantasms in the way you described Pistol indeed might be better than Sword. I personally just dislike the long cooldowns in comparison to the Sword. When working on my build I also found the Sword to be more flexible in 1vs1 because you can either use the block or the daze. You’re probably right that Reliatory Shield would make more sense in a power or hybrid version of your build.

Btw… bonus points for using Mirror.

@keenlam, I love the update to the original build which makes it extremely flexible for roaming/zerging. I think that’s the biggest improvement.

Have you thought about how this build might change with the IC change come 12/10? Maybe something like 0/25/10/20/15? You lose that precious kiting support/lockdown, but you get reduced clone/phantasm CD’s. This also makes losing duelist’s discipline more bearable. Guess you determine if getting all those extra CD’s is better than crippling dissipation at that point.

@ skcamow:

I certainly thought about how the new changes on 12/10 would affect the old 10/25/10/0/25 Clone Spammer build and the first thing came to my mind was something like this: 10/25/10/10/15 (yeap, can have both Mender’s Purity and iCelerity). I actually tested the build without using iCelerity and the difference in clone generation rate was hardly noticeable.

The more glaring issue with either version is: it is still a roaming build and in zerg fighting, it offers little support to the team. Also, going only 10 into Inspiration for a support build doesn’t seem right xD. It was a really hard decision to let go of iCelerity and so I came up with this build.

From my experience, in zerg fighting, the reduced CDs for clone/phantasm don’t matter much because I will find myself creating clones through dodging (like mad >.<).

For roaming situation:
The reduced CDs are covered with Dueling IX and Inspiration VII nicely on weapon skills. Also, with Mender’s Purity (hopefully buffed) traited, I have 1 utility slot open up for Mirror Images, which is a godsend for this build (talking about a true mesmer condition burst).

Thanks for your feedback, and if you’re interested in running your variation of the build like u suggested, please keep me updated on how it works out for you.

Oh man, this build actually looks even more beautiful. (No jk at all) This is the way that people should follow more. A build that incorporates almost everything. There is a new age of builds coming, one that has almost everything in a setup of traitline.

I was also planning to do this sort of thing about a month ago. I am continuing to update it.

Nice. I ran almost same traits some time ago(blade training instead of pistol CD), but with sword+sword/scepter+torch and celestial armor. It’s pretty neat.

Then I changed to http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fgAQRAsc7flwzKqHTzgGbNJipCB35DQHJFl2rVmBvdhA-jUCBYLBEpJyEBBK5rIaslhFRjVVTQWzATlKpeEKrCBsYNA-w so I could drop null field for signet of domination.
Now I’m using 30/30/10/0/0 with same gear, except cavalier trinkets instead of rabid.

edit: It’s not on the link, but I use energy sigils on both offhands.

@ Menace: Thanks for the compliment.
@ Noss: The build in your link is not bad, just curious why you stop using it and switch to 30/30/10/0/0?

I still use it a lot, but I’m testing out loads of different builds and trying to get the most out of the celestial gear. I used 30/30/10 last week because we were against two german servers in WvW and I wanted a bit more offense and boonstrip to better deal with all those guardians and rangers before they could run to their zergs.

20/25/10/15/0 is really good for celestial in a way that it puts every stat in use. And it’s super fun to play. I feel like army of exploding leprechauns jumping around my opponents.
