Chilled to the bone! vs Jade Wind
You could ask the same: Why has thief shadow refuge – a non elite skill and the mesmer needs an elite slot for shorter stealth (Mass Invisibility without PU)? It’s called balance: thief is master of stealth and has better access than others.
So same with Shiro stance and thief basilisk venom.
Revenant is so weak atm that even if JW is strong it would only make it an average class.
Reaper is good as it is.
With S/S and Shiro Revenant EASILY outclasses the Reaper. Mobility over Mobility, active defenses, the possibility to isolate a target and crush it, the ability to escape an unfavourable fight, effectiveness not being gated how many people you fight (remember, Reaper shouts suck if they not at least hit 3 enemies or more), instantcasts, Life Siphon (when you sad you only had one such a skill you forgot you have traits that give siphon too), and actually fast hitting while Reaper’s GS is so slow a 9 year old could dodge/run around the attacks (while also not havin nearly the raw damage/damagegrowth to make up for the kittenpoor speed), up to 16 stacks Vuln just off of AA’s, ferocity out the wazoo and and and … Yeah right, Reaper is so much better. NOT.

you know that s/s + shiro dps is supposedly 12k with full buffs (some of them really difficult to obtain) and dps traits?
that’s pretty low, and also theoretical. Its most damaging skill is sword aa on a single target. with 2 close targets the dps goes down a lot.
and life siphon? don’t just look at the numbers. they have conditions to fullfil, like flanking or energy cost (and there are 3…).
It’s nowhere near necro’s survivability. Life force, come on. that’s a passive siphon in the class mechanic.

Chilled to the bone! But that 2 seconds cast is crazy!
How does dps go down with more targets? Id understand if it was not increased as much as other cleaving weapons but to say it goes down sounds dishonest. Also the coefficients havent been calculated properly so the margin of error on the max theoretical dps could be larger than 1k.

It’s also explicitly increased as more targets are present, since the third strike drops a small splash damage. If you have three cleaved and clumped together, that splash effectively hits 9 times.

Necro DPS is lower (as long as the enemy isn’t a bot standing insede wells for their full duration), Revenant just got insane buffs to their damage across the board and Shiro + S/S burst is insane, especially if you isolate them with Sword 5 and then hit them with that shadowstepfrenzy.
Any skill with a very high telegraphed and long cast time will end up like killshot, 100blades, Churning Earth. Impossible to land on duels against smart players.
I like the suggestion of reducing its cd remove the stun and make it insta cast.

That’s better than Death shroud DPS and it’s probably better than dagger DPS right now.
I think if the Necromancers here were allowed to trade chilled to the bone for Jade winds, pretty much all of us would take that trade.
Necromancers have flesh golem charge, a CC on 45 second coolown. All we really want is that same CC but without the pet. Chilled to the bone is soooo weak compared to flesh golem charge (on paper at least). Why can’t necromancers get things at powerful as the things we already have?

because anet don’t like necros

……….
This. It will no be used successfully against skilled players, ever.

It could be a great teamfight opener from Stealth but with that huge choreographed attack you would have to be stupid to be hit otherwise.
While the Reaper forum is right that energy costs limit the ability to combo the stun with follow up attacks…
…. This doesn’t at all limit the team fight or defensive use of the skill, which remains strong…
And who knows whether there will be some energy management runes or sigils?
Meanwhile Chilled to the bone will never hit anybody good due to long cast and obvious animation, and if it does hit it is easily removed by something like “shake it off.”. It’s longer cool down and less devastating than, for example, AoE moa.

agreed this skill will never hit any good player as a fact they will hit you hard while you cast and then dodge and finish you off
this skill should be 1s cast time and 80-90s recharge
