I’m not sure if the minion AI is as bad as it is intentionally, as a balance choice, or if it’s just not well made, but I feel like minions are stupid to the point of uselessness. Here are a few simple tweaks that could make them a lot more useful. Currently, the melee minions only seem inclined to attack if they personally take damage.
Bone Minion: When told to explode, the bone minions approach the current target before doing so, similar to mesmer clones.
Flesh Golem: When told to charge, the flesh golem always closes in afterwards and attacks the target, rather than standing on the horizon and glaring balefully at it.
All Minions: Here are a few solutions that may work.
1 – The minions attack the same target as you, rather than doing whatever they want. Simple stuff, considering that they’re slaves to your will. If the minion stupidity is intentional, then a more complex solution may be…
2 – F2 button. If you have a minion skill on your bar, you gain access to a second profession skill ordering your minions to attack the target, like the Ranger’s own call target skill.
3 – If another profession skill is too extreme of a buff, there can instead be additional affects added to skills and traits that interact with minions. For example: The scepter auto attack marking a target for all minions to aggressively attack, or an added effect to each minion trait that increases minion aggressiveness/responsiveness by a degree, making the minions more reactive for people who have built as minion masters.
