Quick questions about how Marks and Critical hits work. I watched the build tutorials and was left with a few questions.

If I put a mark down, and say 3 enemies step in it:

1. If I get lucky can I get a critical hit on all 3? (Just the damage, I know the bleeding does not crit.)
2. If so, if I have a Superior Sigil of Fire (or equivalent) do I have a chance of it going off on any of them? I know it wouldn’t trigger 3 times, but is it only possible to be triggered on the closest enemy?
3. If I switch off of staff with my marks still down, and then an enemy steps on it does it use the sigils from my staff, or my alternate set?

Thanks in advance!

First of all, I use the staff a lot but with a really small amount of precision. So my experience with critical hits on marks is rather limited which is why I’m not 100% sure, but here it goes:

1. Yes, every target has a chance to get a critical.
2. Therefore the flame blast should trigger.
As you said, the internal cooldown of the sigil prevents the flameblast getting off on all of them. So, the first one to get a chance would be the one closest to the center of the mark.
3. If you switch to a different set, all the stats and sigils from that set will apply to a mark that is triggered then.

Again, I havn’t tested any of this but it would be my best guess.

I did literally 5 minutes of testing in the mists (mainly for question 2) of this so don’t take it as the ultimate truth but just what I observed.

1. Yes

2. Critting on 5 dummies the flame blast seemed to go off randomly on them, as in not the one closest to the middle but any.

3. It uses the currently equipped set. Ie if you have fire on staff and ice on other weapon, when the marks go off and you got ice weapon equipped it’ll trigger ice sigil.

That is not surprising. If the one closest to the center doesn’t trigger the blast then you move on to the next one and so on until the blast is triggered and the internal cooldown starts.

Yep that is fair enough.

So in essence to answer question 2 with the words SageCyan used. Yes it has a chance to trigger on any of them.

So that means you can trigger a lifesteal-on-crit-sigil with marks?

Yeah, but it’s only going to hit one target because of the internal sigil CD.

I keep lifesteal on crit on my staff anyway because I want consistency/maximum lifesteal when I swap off lifesteal on crit on dagger (crit and swap sigils even of differing types share internal CD).

I think he might have meant the trait, which has no internal cd (I assume it was the trait)
