Guild Wars 2

I had ~1000 hours on my bers war and 800 of them i hate to play him (but was too lazy to up and gear someone else), then i up engineer, it was very fun on leveling but on 80 i found playstyle is very uncomfortable and drop it.

And then i decide to make some light armor class, tried mesmer but pink-purple skills is just bleh, elementalist looks bit complicated and i start Necro and fall in love.

Especially condition build (yes, conditions underpowered in pve, especially with constructions, but still), heal with conditions, transfer conditions, cure conditions and ofcourse Death Shroud.

Now i’m just finished gathering ascended trinkets, got asc scepter and close to dagger.

Bought Gw2 just because i’m a Necromancer (and GW) fan.
I don’t play anymore, it’s enough for an answer.
Let’s hope the new patches gonna add more “ecromancer” to the “N”.

Leveled a ton of alts and all of them got boring after a while. Engineer was the only to keep me happy due to all the variety. Eventually though, that too felt too restricted.

Tried Mesmer and it’s not bad but also got boring.

Picked up my long-abandoned Necro and found that it’s gotten some love in the 6+ months since I shelved her. I love all the condition manipulation, having a great selection of actually useful utilities, and the DS mechanic is (while a bit too straight-forward) like having a constant 3rd weapon set to swap to.

I like the idea of attrition builds. I have other characters in my sig necro is my newest character. I spent alot of gold trying to figure out condition builds for my mesmer and thief and it just doesn’t cut it. Necro is where its at for me my warrior is about big damage though so I use him for big numbers.

The playstyle suits me, I like the sound effects, animations and the concept — it’s as easy as that. I also like the evil grin on my face when playing necro.

Conditions weak in PvE? I know people say that, but I don’t agree. I don’t feel weak soloing what you are supposed to be able to solo, and I usually do it with my WvW build. I can mention Ship of Sorrows as an example, I did a proper solo run on my first attempt (in, got chest and out).

I agree conditions take some patience, but that doesn’t necessarily equal “weak” to me.

People say other things about necro, I dis-/agree to some, but that’s off topic. What is important is finding your own way and having fun.

Got two necromancers, one condi charr and one power human and I enjoy playing them both. Got 5 other classes and only guard is almost as fun. I think I just have a thing for necromancers. Cant exactly say what it is!

Same here: my main is a necro (since L2 times, he always is), and I simply enjoy the class mechanics. A couple of weeks ago I bought another char slot just to roll another necro, to try another build.

-I’ve always played the dark caster archetype. Warlocks, Shadowpriests, Blood Mages, Zealot, Necromancers, etc. The playstyles are somewhat consistent.
-I enjoy playing a Tanky/sustained type character. While (IMO) Lifesteal and Death Shroud still need some work I find the overall skillset of the class to be by far the most fitting for my playstyle.
-Being a Norn Necro with the white corpsepaint perfectly fits the black metal look. Now if there were only some better tribal/dark caster type armor…

Always loved my Dark Caster Class’s. The write up of what a necro was to be when game release, also sold me 100%.

Also, what others had said about necro’s in GW1. Vamp that let you get beat down to 1 hit away from death, then steal all the life back. A swarm of crazy minions. Massive debuff’s to all around you.

It sadly hasn’t worked out as that.

Mast of Attrition… Easiest to CC lock/train, small amount of protection up time & then DS being our only defense, now that DS can’t be used as a block, were actually worst class after 30sec in a real fight.

Minions… Well yeh…

Vamp… heavy trait cost for 0.01% of our max life per hit? Other class’s get over 200 per hit no trait cost and we get 25? Anyway, not the long CD, big steal I’d dreamed of and heard of in GW1…

Anyway, the squishy condi/hybrid, affliction warloc (Well fire didn’t really fit with necro gods in the lore) doesn’t do it for me.

I do love my DS heavy power build, and I do love my little ‘death rat’ (Asura are just soo cute at being evil).
DeathShroud is a kinda kitten cool, GW flavored thing. Even if I spend a lot of my time with a ugly green world, missing out on lots of the pretty GW2 graphics ;-P
I do also, always live in hope. The dev’s def have lots of passion and very cool ideas.
(There’s rumors that minions might not just die in PvE that’s not trash, that vamp/siphon’s getting a rework coming soon.)

Edit: (The dev’s also said, new legendary weaps coming in the future, so there might be a staff that’s not rainbows!)

Asuras made to be evil and crazy.

It’s all the little things with him too. The way he almost trips over when he stops running. The things he says. Like, end of a dungy “You couldn’t have done it without me”.

I bought GW1 solely because I saw my cousin playing in a group with a Necro that had a minion out, and I thought the ability to raise minions was the coolest thing I’d ever seen. So all GW1 I played MM, a few debuff builds, and vamp builds (Touch Rangers for lulzy AB 4 touch ranger groups).

GW2 was the same. I mainly play MM, or various builds with minions in them, and glass cannon hybrid in PvE atm (probably swapping to MM once they get HP buffed). I love the minion gameplay style in this game, and its why I love necro over all other classes, along with the aggressive gameplay.

Well i played Mesmer for 7 years in Guild Wars 1 so ofcourse i started playing him for quite a bit in Guild Wars 2 there was just this little tiny thing though, Mesmers do not feel like mesmers the slightest so i had to choose another main profession after 300 + hours on Mesmer so i decided to try out Necromancers and despite it’s many flaws i really like it and i am at almost 900 hours played on him, They don’t feel at all like the Necromancers for gw1 though but i think i know why Mesmer/Necromancer doesn’t feel like their GW1 counterpart and that is because we got conditions and not Hexes to play around with. Hexes was way more fun than conditions so might be it.

But i just love playing my necromancer, got him a legendary axe and som cool new skins, still tweaking my build all the time, so yeah i kinda love him because he is the “redhead stepchild” of dungeons.

I love the necromancer, and every bit of it. Although there is a long way to go to make him a good class, I just like the feel of it. I never liked boons much anyways, so necromancer was my first choice. The thing I really like, which I just couldn’t find in other classes, is the build variaty. It’s basically anything goes. I switch builds every week or so, and they all kinda work. They are not the wombocombo builds like mesmers or eles or warriors have, but they all work. Also, I love the feeling of just calling down the thunder with all the conditions we have. Bursting 20stacks bleeding, chilled cripple and poison just feels nice. And the deathshroud, where my little asura shouts “I AM DEATH INCARNATE!” is just awesome.
