[WvWvW] Reaper Shroud slow movement
Yo,
first of all, signets passive arn’t applied during shroud form because of the empty class skills in Reaper’s form.
It would’ve been useful to own +180power in RF, and kinda bad to drag 3 condis when you get imo or chilled. Without posibilities to dispel them it would’ve been the worse.
We’re already fresh meat enough. (joke joke)
To answer you :
1. Rune of the Traveler work in shroud form? -> Yep it does.
2. it is worth it to trade Strenghts runes for Traveler runes on a reaper power build?
->Depends on what you already have. Still, strenghts runes > Traveler ones because of the obvious damage. However, it can be painful to move like a truck even if it strikes like a truck.
3. Any other ways or tricks to keep up the pace in reaper form?
-> Basically, anything that isn’t the movement signet. You have the spectral of speed & the 2nd skill of the warhorn to begin with.
Hi,
thanks for your feedback, appreciated.
Good to know traveler runes work in RF.
Im using Marauder for armour, zerker for weapons and a mix of zerker / marauder trinkets.
Guess i need to work on my movement/positioning skills if i want to stick with Strength runes, hear what you are saying, hitting like a truck whilst not being able to stick to a foe is not optimal.
If that doesn’t work out, i’ll give traveler runes a go, loosing +power but with the added bonus of being able to ditch signet of the locust and equip a more useful slot.

Not really, your main boon is might, which strength does better and the other real bonus on traveler runes is the boon duration.

If you’re running soul reaping,
Running travelers runes is fine but you also can just use warhorn and activate locust swarm when you enter shroud then you dont need the 25% movement speed buff.
But i wouldnt run speed of shadows since the unblockable, lf generating marks are simply to important to not take.
specral walk is the answer. Also as bonus if you get into deep kitten within 12s of starting it (if you trait spectral mastery) you can use it to pull back to your starting position.
You can use Death’s Charge (RS2) with no target as a dash for some easy mobility. I like Spectral Walk a lot when roaming on Power, and if you combine it with something like Flesh Wurm, it gives you a lot of general mobility both in and out of combat.

Not if u dont staff like me, but if u run staff then I agree its a must

It depends on what you’re doing. In pve and spvp, I’d agree you often need to squeeze every ounce of life force out of a difficult endeavor, but for wvw it could go either way. In zerg-on-zerg fights there are enough deaths around you to fill up life force, so it’s a lot less useful. For roaming you could go either way, I like the movement speed in case I need to run away from or pursue an enemy.
I firmly believe Speed of Shadows is a better option than Soul Marks for solo play.
If blobbing, there’s no reason to be running slow since you should be on permanent swiftness from your allies, and that’s very-easily achieved.

I’ve slotted signet of the locust for the speed buff and use Strenght Runes at the moment. When i go into reaper form i slow down and get kited quite easily since signet of the locust doesn’t seem to work whilst in reaper form.
Just want to make sure this gets mentioned. No matter what you do, you are going to get kited fairly easy by most classes. You could trait shroud movement speed, you could go spectral mastery and have perm swiftness with spectral walk, you can take warhorn, etc.. But when it comes to fighting, you are going to get kited by most competent players.
This something you have to just work around and get used to. Anybody that knows how to fight a necro knows to kite when they see reaper shroud. While we have death’s charge, most classes have much further leaps. So keep that in mind and work around that weakness. It’s just part of being a necro because Anet.

Don’t forget this little fella with Blighter’s boon. Huuuuge increase in life force generation, without sacrificing shroud speed/lowered shroud cooldown
Doesn’t locust swarm stop working when you do damage? I’ve never used it in a combat situation but I know when I’m running with it and it hits a rat or something I slow back down.

It just puts you in combat, that’s why you slow down. It still does damage and gives you lifeforce for the remainder of its duration
yea but that’s what we’re talking about right? A speed buff while in combat.

There aren’t really speed buffs in combat. Even swiftness will only bring you up close to normal speed when you get into combat
do youguys think blighters boon is worth taking if you don’t have spite?
I have started using runes of the centaur along relentless pursuit you don’t get crippled.
chill is mostly applied by necromancers and elementalist and just watch out for immobilize
then pick up warhorn or spectral walk and you should be good

You can, say with sigils of strength. But it’s a lot less efficient/effective than if you used spite, because spite just boosts up might generation so much. Especially on low health enemies. In a group of enemies, just using RS 1 can heal half your health before needing to drop out again. You can’t get that sort of might generation without spite

Yes but i think you then also have to use chilling victory and sigil of strength and you dont run a condition build (then you would run deathly chill).
Honestly i find reapers onslaught not that good for any pvp. The attack speed increase is only 15% and you cannot really make use of the cd reduction part due the fact that player dont die that much. I think it is more of an open world pve trait.

It’s amazing in mid-scale WvW. In GvG-sized fights if you get into the fight for just a little bit, you pretty much end up with a zero-cooldown Death’s Charge.

Reaper’s Onslaught is awesome in any mid to large scale WvW fights, since deaths reset the cooldown on reaper shroud skills. You can do quite many death’s charges and soul spirals in very short amount of time. With increased attack speed, this makes it all very very fun.
I just wouldn’t recommend it for solo or small scale roaming.
Hi there,
I’m new to necro and want to focus on playing power reaper in wvwvw – both roaming and zerging.
Roaming reaper?! This I have to see!
Are there any videos of these pwning Thieves, Mesmers and Berserkers?
Back on topic, I am trying to move away from Traveler’s Runes but it’s really REALLY tough. I’ve gone Hoelbrak Runes for front line zerging and it’s nice when I’m in the zerg, but awful when running back to it.
I curse Robert Gee often (This is a joke, I am sure he’s a lovely man).

I’m just going to quote myself just to ask again for these videos.

Only if you are using Sigil of Strength and Runes of Durability, other boon-granting sigils (Agility/Battle), and a statspread with a very healthy amount of Vitality. I think if you want to play Blighter’s Boon you don’t want to play half-measures.
Anything else I would probably say you want to be using Deathly Chill for the sake of extra condition coverage.
