hammer warriors....
It’s not against other classes that have access to reliable stun breakers… just overboard vs the necromancer. Fear not… in the video guide i will release, the improved version of the fear build, i got you covered.

I find it funny that people have taken this long to start using hammer on the warrior for tpvp. When i first got into it months ago i got completely dominated by a hammer warrior. Warriors were always in an alright state for pvp, its just barely anyone used that one decent build.
The build was always possible since release. It just got better because they finally changed the class mechanic line to reduce the CD on burst skills like many other classes have it.
It isn’t a hard build to fight if you have some range. I just started playing necro and i run condi so it is different I guess. I don’t have much time with main hand dagger/ axe builds for necro so I couldn’t really say how to help you there.
@spoj no warrior weren’t in a alright state the the OP is referring to the buff to healing signet as far as the regen goes that buff was like 2 weeks ago. You could definitely stun pretty close to what you can now with mace/shield and if you run hammer with it even more stuns but you didn’t have sustain, you had crappy condition fighting abilities. All the healing skills got a buff 2 weeks ago and burst mastery changes to the class mechanic line in the last big balance patch made the build viable in a pvp setting.
Also the hammer/cc build has been around for a long time. Go look on the warrior forums and find any post by Defektive.

Yes the stuns are insane vs necros.
I even had to resort to using the otherwise useless reapers protection= fear on stun with 90sec cd (lmao 90 sec dc !!!!!!!) when i run into one of those hammerapists unfortunately…
-Spectral walk is a must
-DC fear
-Lyssa runes with golem for a 5 sec window.. if lucky. (little tricky, you have to be fast and you will be squishy as ####.
-Spectal wall & #4 on staff combo when in close proximity.
-#4 on warhorn folowed by # dagger.
-Be stability traited?
Stuff like that might help. but then there still is the casttime :P
If you countered one of them.. expect them to be on you for the rest of the match..if they arn’t already ^^

Oh my god, thank you. Im so sick of stun-lock/Invicible/hundred blade warriors. I target them and try to kill them first every fight.
Main Warrior | Every other class at 80
I only play WvW

IMPROVED?
Thank you Nemesis. I’m still using the older one, albeit tweaked a bit for my WvW playstyle.
Thank you so much. ;_;
Also yes, hammer warriors are the suck.
It’s not just hammer warriors.
I met one last week in WvW and had a couple of duels with him. He told me the weapon combo to have atm was mace/shield, although he was using GS + mace/sword. He said with the Sigil of Paralyzation he could do 4 seconds of stun every 7 seconds!
I know a really good thief and mesmer who also had a go at him. Thief: no chance. Mesmer: would have almost died if the warrior didn’t pull the aggro of an npc during the fight.
Against me: I always had Corrupt Boon and Well of Power, the third one was Well of Corruption most times but I also tried with another stun break instead. Since the warrior was having stability on him most of the time the well was just more effective so I could keep my distance with CCs of my own rather than letting him stun me and then using a stun break.
With this setup the outcome of the battle was really determined by the amount of life force I had at the start. Sometimes he depleted my pool completely so for the next match I desummoned my two fiends for 20% lf… that was not enough. 50-100% on the other hand let me absorb at least one additional burst, which gave me the edge.
Warriors got a lot of stun buffs with the last patch and imo this was very necessary. At least now they stand a chance, before they just couldn’t land their damage on other players.
Invincible warriors? A lot of stun buffs with the last patch?
I feel like I’m either playing a different game, or taking crazy pills.

To deal with a hammer warrior, you must use atleast 1 stunbreaker. I personally use Spectral Armor. Spectral Wall is also good versus hammer warriors.
The main thing to watch out for is the Earthshaker ability that jumps in the air to stun you. This is easily dodged. The second skill to watch out for, Backbreaker, has a less noticeable animation, but it looks like he winds up a big hammer hit. It’s slow and knocks down for a while. It is also easily dodgeable.
Your stunbreaker should be used for when you see several stun skills in a row and it is used break his chain if you do actually get hit by a stun. It should be used as a backup. Your Deathshroud tanking ability should also be reserved for this.
In general though, a Necro’s strat should be to kite the warrior and never run toward them, this makes hammer extremely hard to hit for them and easier to see the Earthshaker and Backbreaker incoming. Spectral Wall helps for this and Chill is absolutely devastating for all Warriors.
And as always, look for his Stability and Berzerker’s Stance icons, these are the two major tools Warriors have versus Necromancers, try not to have your skills get immuned on these two monster defensive tools.
Hope this helps.
