how can you guys stand it?
“He’s like a man with a fork in a world of soup.”
I’m in similar case as poster above.
I’m playing 2 games atm and I do only few things in gw2 to not later regret, that I dropped and when a Boom comes in, I suddenly need something I could have if I just did put a little bit of time on gw2.
I melted some d/d ele’s last night… corrupt boon, fear… sploosh! >:D Without corrupt boon its pretty much a stalemate but that skill makes me almost feel bad for them.
alts: Fangyre (Necro), Hardrawk (Ele);
Jade Quarry
and they did it again another nerf combined with some “buffs” that do nothing wow .5 of a sec faster to use my warhorn woo………………… thats so going to turn the tide of a battle
I’ve played around 800 WvW levels (not EOTM) on this Necro so plenty of experience in group and solo play.
I WvW only. and the only way I can survive on my Necro is to run 0/2/6/6/0 or 2/2/6/5/0, dagger + staff, soldiers gear with Hoelbrak runes; 3k armor, 2.5k Power and Plague Form. This absolutely keeps thieves from bursting me down – even two.
That said, plenty of Warriors and Guardians rip through that in no time.
There’s no point going full ‘zerker, as much fun as it can be – I’ve got a set of crafted ascended gear but I melt from the retaliations alone in zerg fights, and when chasing Guardians – not that I can keep up for long, they can have a slither of life and DS / life blast can’t finish them without corrupt boon, my full zerker life blast won’t move their HP bar.
I carry 3 power sets of gear and 1 condition set, and have probably 6 builds on paper.

I’ve been running full zerker well necro (6/2/0/0/6, axe/focus + staff) for quite some time now (rank 1700+), and really, staying alive is all about positioning. You gotta well bomb at range and avoid the melee clash as much as possible, but be sure you can always fall back your own melee train in case you’re getting focused.
Problem with running tankier builds as a necro is that if you get caught by the hammer train, you’re pretty much gonna die anyway due to stun and immobilize spam. You’ve got no teleports, blocks or invulns to save your skin. You can either pop DS or Plague and hope for the best.
What helps a lot is putting 6 points into Soul Reaping (mandatory if you’re running full zerker), this will increase your death shroud health and therefore your survivability. If you react fast enough you can easily burst down thieves with 2-3 Life Blasts (don’t forget to use Doom to interrupt their stealth attempts).
Chasing guardians during zerg fights isn’t really productive indeed, I only do so if they’re really low on health, although Focus #5 will hurt them quite a bit, especially when you catch them out outside their meleetrain. But you’re generally better off walking around the backline finishing off squishy classes. A well-placed Focus #4 along with a couple of Life Blasts can blow most staff eles up in a matter of seconds.
My 2 cents
Plays every class though :>

@Lethal Stranger.5093.
I should have clarified, when I run full zerker, it is with a 6/2/0/0/6 build. 400ms+ latency (Australia) does ensure that reaction times are limited vs thieves.
Neither would I go chasing Guardians in a zerg. This only happens at during opportune moments, such as when one is broken off from their group and heading in wrong direction.
just yesterday I had an opportunity to GvG one of the top 5 guilds in the game, [SYN]Syndictive, and in the first round their necros dropped 7 of my 15 players, in less than 10 seconds. I’m fairly certain it was only the necros, because it was instantaneous, and it hurt like hell. Elementalist damage takes time to ramp up, (ice spike, meteor shower, eruption)their melee was moving away from us, and we were melting. We got baited into a well bomb, and it was GG.
For your description i’m pretty sure it wasn’t the necros. Most probably eles with some help from the necro to add some condis/fear, but necro can’t take out anything that fast.
Seriously guys, when will you stop giving excuses for a poor developed class and lack of interest from Anet to fix it?
I play with a necro, ranger and guardian and the first two are cleary undeveloped. It seems the resources available in Anet are dedicated to create a new outfit for the gem store instead giving this class an spin. And we got unfinished classes in beta stage.
Indeed if you are an experienced player and know how to “reposition” (AKA play better than) you will kill noobs. We are talking same skill players, you are dead against any other class, even the ranger and believe me, that class isn’t that great.
Even after the nerfs to the guardian that class is much more viable to play with than the necro. If i would be in the place of Anet i would do a reshape all the skills tree and classes same as they did before, when the changed all the skill trees.
Hell, even i wouldn’t mind to have to start from scratch with new clases if that is what it takes for get them fixed.
