Seems that you use SB in your power build as utility weapon, when I go power build I sometimes use axe/dagger as utility, it also has 900 range, also has a dodge, you can cripple and chill in you need to chase a target and while SB bleed with AA while flanking Axe stack might on AA no matter where you are and it bounce, against 2 targets axe is really powerful and fight against 2 targets is quite common, it is great against mesmers.

Also, just ignore Darkness, I’m not sure why he keeps posting in the ranger forums.

That’s a good solution too, but the axe/dagger lacks the panic button (3 from short bow) that saved me too much for me to get rid of it. That’s a personnal opinion, tho, you may be right in the fact that axe/dagger is objectively a better choice

And I know guys like this Darkness. Playing ranger since day 1 and still beeing bad enough to lose against engineers ? Nah this guy is either lying, or really bad at this game. In all those matches I played, I lost only one time against an engi, and it was my own fault.

Well, I consider the dagger #4 very alike SB #3 but I can see the swiftness and the move back appealing

I take it as a challenge, everyone seems to think that ranger is the worst class for PVP and PVE. I’m going to try to prove those wrong ! There’s a lot of good build out there, and we can also try to think by ourselves and try something else than what is given to us.
If a build doesn’t suits you, why not trying another one ?
As I read on the forum, people tries to run a zerk build, or the same build on EVERY class they play, and complains it doesn’t work… A necro can DPS, it’ll not DPS the same way an ele do. Same for a Ranger.
It will take time, as I have to go all over the basics of the class, but I’ll get there eventually.
If any other people wants to do the same and help me, just tell me IG

Been playing ranger since day 1.
3 years of playing non stop ranger here.
And I can tell you…and thurst me that it is totally broken and unbalanced ( in the negative way). A decent engi or thief or whoever you want will kill the ranger Always. No matter his skills. Simply becouse we have no decent F skills. Simply becouse we have no decent survival skills.

This is definitely not true. I rarelly lose any 1v1s against thieves and engies on the power ranger build I’ve been testing. Skill plays a huge role here, I think you should watch rangers who are experienced in PvP and see how they deal with those classes before jumping to the conclusion.

I know there aren’t many ranger streamers, but I stream anytime I can and I saw Eurantien beginning streaming aswell.

Imho play what you are good at and like. If we all went with what was meta every single time in every single aspect of the game it would be boring.

Here’s a tip. In PvE if you are not in the meta do your story modes and start your own runs. Watch video ahead of time so you know the run. Use what you can to support the group. Most players do not care or mind unless you bring a build that makes the run harder.

In PvP a pew pew ranger can and will in many cases just kill off players who aren’t paying attention. So many times you’ll get kills for playing like a sniper.

In WvW a ranger can out run most classes. S/D has some good evades, GS mobility, and LB stealth. Pew pew will run over most but not all builds when well played.

Play every class you can. Knowing mechanics and how to pressure is one of the keys to winnning.

Do not come whining to the forums immediately is you lose think about the loss and figure out if you could have done anything differently.
