This build is slightly different from the Survival Condi …
… And is more Condi Bombing oriented.

Anyone played something similar or thought of playing one?

It has a trade of defenses (requires track of fight since all Condi Clear and dmg mitigation comes from active abilities)
for a much higher condi pressure.

Haven’t tried out in competitive, yet… But I guess it might work in some cases.
Any feedback is appreciated.

The bad point of this build is your condi bomb is not covered by any other conditions. So your massive amount of bleeding will most likely get cleansed pretty often. Thats why having access to some other condis help “cover” the real damaging ones (thats why necro’s signet of spite is so strong!).

Muddy terrain makes a good condition cover no? Since it has both immobilize and cripple to start with and keeps reapplying the cripple so unless they do a big cleanse they’re just going to keep removing that instead of damage. I could maybe see adding sigils of doom for some extra poison, but it looks pretty nasty to me.

Your build has the bulk of what a condi survival ranger needs. It may be lacking a couple things, such as high poison application and mobility, but it also is really strong at putting bleeds out.

I consider shortbow more of a bleed maintenance weapon than a condi burst. I’ve never been a fan of it myself, without sword you lose a lot of mobility. Dagger compliments axe mainhand well with poison on evade with a matching poison evade on sw/t. I suppose that all comes down to preference though.

For extra cover I use torment sigils for a perma stack doing ~100 damage/s. Earth sigil may be redundant with all the applications you already have. Also, I choose traveler runes over krait for the constant 25% movement speed with a bit of condition duration across all conditions instead of just bleeds. I put a lot of value into moving through the map quickly and Hornet Sting on sword helps even more.

You may gain more using Poison Master over Keen Edge with your build. Higher poison damage and application on pet swap will certainly help your build with only one poison application.

I’ve got my build in my sig, but it’s customized to my liking and may not be for everyone. My favorite thing about condi survival is how it can be tweaked for each player’s preferences and still be quite effective.

Hi @Tragic Positive
2 big weaknesses : 1) weak condi defence vs the condi meta spvp(necros and engis will do work on you). 2)no stun defence – one missplay and you can be stun chained to death.
So, why would ever consider to take SoS over LR(condi removal+stun removal+fury+vigor+re-position+ 32s cd)?

Keep in mind there is an overlap between sharpening stone and keen edges. if they were to activate, one during the duration of the other the bleeds wil not stack togather. If you ask me, i would replace sharpening stone with SOR.

Also consider sigil of generosity over sigil of energy on SB. and forest spider over jungle(the long poison duration helps for condi cover). And ofc TU over HS, you have no healing power and your build focuses more on 1v1(home defender).

Its not lasting 10 sec… you need a decent covering uptime to keep your burst active. Like a sigil of frailty/generosity on SB and sigil of torment add up 2 condi that can be cleanse instead of your high bleeds stacks (Well it will depend on the condi cleanse used as every condi cleanse has different priority). You can also swap the spider for the forest one (poison) or the cave one (weakness and vulnerability, It would be my choice).

For the rest, I noticed a lack of stunbreaker which is really needed in spvp. That being said i would suggest you to get lightning reflex, as it is a survival skill, instead of signet of stone. But you an also replace signet of stone by protect-me.

Finally, if you choose to stick with Healing Spring i suggest you Sword/horn. As you can blast it twice, it add a nice poison, some evades and hunter’s call apply quite alot of bleeds on crit (16 procs for sharpened edges and keen edges).

Just a random tips like that: dodge before you heal/blast, because you will proc evasive purity thus cleansing poison. So your heal will be fully effective.

Looks identical to the build I posted before the patch went live:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/ranger/Bleeding-Tormenter/4737540

It works well with an organized team. Running solo can be a bit difficult.
Also, mines using Sd/D for the evades and poison uptime. Basically what the guys above are suggesting.

Thank you all for your feedback =)
What I mostly had in mind with this build is the potential of applying 13 bleed stacks… In a single ability cast that cannot really be dodged that easily (Mud Terrain).

I guess swapping Shortbow for Sword + X might be a good idea. I just felt like Shortbow is a cool utility weapon, and Axe+Torch is the deadly set.
If you happen to bait your enemy’s cooldowns through using Shortbow and kiting, you have easier time swapping to Axe – Rooting – blowing ridiculous amount of bleed stacks + increasing it further since Axe gives might.

I don’t really think that Sharpened Edges and the passive Trait copy overwrite each other often… When I bring the target to 75% HP – it means I usually blew my bomb with Sharpened Edges … Or I saved it for finishing the target off meaning I didn’t really think of using it early anyways.

I’m basically just trying to think out of the box. I have understood long ago that Ranger never will be the no.1 condi class.

Try preloading Sharpening Stone before a fight so it’s off timer early. You’ve got 30 seconds to use it on a 36 second cooldown. Helps you set up a quick burst for dropping their hp a bit and baiting out some early cleanses. Muddy Terrain > Stalker’s Strike > Splitblade/Sharpening Stone > Throw Torch is the rotation I use. With torment and geomancy sigils that will put on around 13 stacks of bleed, a stack of torment, burning, poison, cripple and vulnerability from Opening Strike. 6 conditions is enough to make some panic and blow some larger cleanses.

With Sharpening Stone off cooldown quickly, you’re set up for your main burst with Entangle (set it up with pet CC for guarantee hit) and Bonfire on your second rotation.
