Bristleback Nerf
Will update once Path of Fire releases.
Full ascended Rampagers (staff is settlers)+ fury+ hunter’s tactics(10% crit flank) sharpened edges+ hidden barbs+ refined toxins+ 35% bleed+ 35% conditions+ sigil of earth/geomancy+ primal echoes+ ancient seeds+ piercing+ beam attack.
It’s dmg isn’t so obvious, its the accumulation of those things played right/ luck. Getting staff swap aoe bomb to hit is supremely important. I wouldn’t expect any stat set other than Rampagers to do any measurable dmg unfortunately.
actually this build makes so much sense. ill try it right away, but aren’t you too glassy for the condi tank builds abused in wvw?
I’m not really sure I understand your comment. Are you saying Ranger/Druid isn’t in a good spot?
Having functional builds at the top of every game mode doesn’t put us in a good spot?
Like, I legitimately don’t understand how people can think Ranger/Druid is not in a good spot. If there’s stuff you don’t like and that doesn’t sit well with how you would have preferred the elite spec to have been that hurts your gameplay experience, then that’s understandable, but say that instead of spreading misinformation.
you dont understand because you are disconnected from the reality.
druid is not even required for raids anymore, they arent asked for.
in ESL there is only 2 rangers from 80 players i’ve heard.
so no druid is not in a good spot and never was. we had an artificially induced boom because of the raids but as i predicted we arent needed anymore.
now stop the lie.

? Those are the reason to play glass or the fight never ends. I’m more worried about all the zerker builds that abuse hard defenses like dragon hunters blocking shield, thieves staff evade bombing and revenant sword 3. There is nothing quite so balanced as being practically immune to attacks while chunking out 5k-10k dmg.

1) NO SPECIFIC CLASS IS NECESSARY TO BEAT THE RAID. It’s 100% about playing the mechanics of the raid. Besides that, there are 2 builds that people readily accept on Ranger players, Rangers aren’t kicked from parties anymore, and they are even gasp invited to groups.
2) ESL players aren’t an accurate statistical representation of the whole community. The vast majority of the players are playing their mains, of which there have never been many Ranger players, and have never switched, and the only exception to that is Revenant players, none of them originally being ranger players, and regardless, by this time, they may as well be Revenant mains. Usage statistics NEVER directly correlate with where things fall on the balance spectrum, tons of other variables influence usage statistics. Also, Fact: without class stacking, there would be a Druid on EVERY team. That doesn’t make druid weak or in a spot where in needs buffs, it makes the classes that stack so well that they beat out building for versatility since they are so versatile on their own that stacking them compounds the issue too strong.
“Good spot” doesn’t imply “most demanded class in every gamemode.” Typically speaking, the classes in the highest demand, especially in PvE, perform above the threshold for what you would consider balanced, and the same goes for PvP.
Lying to people is to tell them that Druid doesn’t have all of the tools it needs and that it doesn’t perform exceptionally well at every gamemode.
So yes, Druid is in a great spot.

Meta raids consist of 2 druids in the squad (Condi Druids).
I have literally no idea what could you be talking about.
Have you even checked before your statement? Healing Druid is the only reason why people pass the raids without huge amount of experience and DPS boosting druid is the answer for elitists in speed runs.
There’s no lie about it. Please, think for a minute or two and reconsider your attitude.
PvP is the only place where we lack in competitive environment. In everyday PvP we are just fine. Not OP and not weak.
soon people will say PETS AI are fine
i only agree to a certain point where ranger is at a DECENT spot but however compare to other classes ranger at the the lowest tier.
i already posted this already
DH Hunter’s Ward 45sec cd
Movement speed decreased by 50%; stacks duration. Crippled (2s): -50% Movement Speed
Maximum Number of Barriers: 5
Duration Ring Duration: 6 seconds
lets not forget BARRIER does KNOCKBACK too
Ranger LB Barrage 30 sec cd
Movement speed decreased by 50%; stacks duration. Crippled (1½s): -50% Movement Speed
Number of Targets: 5
Radius
in WvW one guardian with Hunting Ward could simply halt/trap a entire zerg team
how this is fair competitive gameplay?
there are tons of things i could list out but save me the trouble go search and read up the history. Been here since closed beta ranger issues never seen to be fix but always get nerf that’s what i can tell you “NEW” gw2 players.
(edited by EvilZombie.6801)
why do some ranger players always compare our dps to other classes?
we do damage differently, we’re one of the few sustained dps classes, we’re not bursty at all. you’ll never see the numbers on a ranger that you would see on a thief in a short engagement but over time we can match most classes in dps.
why do we compare what we bring with what anyone else brings?
ranger/druid has always been about the unique buffs it brings not zerg blocking or anything else like that. The healing from multiple staff skills plus CAF heals can keep a team fight going, the GoL+frost+spotter+GoE buffs can increase group dps a great deal.
we have meta (!META!) builds right now for every game mode, those types of gameplay may not fit your style but they are there. we are meta(!META!) for raids, pvp, pve, etc. Sure there are things that could be changed, I still think staff needs to be a hybrid weapon, but as it stands we’re in a better place than we have ever been.
pulling some damage off bristle didn’t destroy the pet, it still bursts pretty high. cats and birds still hit really hard and can be more effective when paired with a druid over the old base ranger.
I think we’ve all had our fair share of complaints about druid but if you really stop and look at it this is the best we’ve been. now if you don’t like the druid gameplay style then you obviously will still have complaints but that wont change until the next elite spec or you reroll.
obviously you are not paying attention and don’t tell others to reroll many people here does play multiple toons.
stop making a fool of yourself by telling everyone each classes have different role to fulfill EVERYONE that play MMO know that’s the basic.
what i point out is skill that are obviously been OP that causing issues in WvW and why there’s nothing been done to it but when it comes to ranger everything is NERF almost immediately when someone complained Bristleback is doing way more damage.
Pet AI have been highlighted since CLOSED BETA its been 3 years what have Anet done about it? did you even participate in closed beta? do you know since then there was TONS and TONS of feedbacks
there was a time warrior was the most OP for awhile, then thief, mes, ele.
few classes were hold back such as engineer, nerco and ranger but now look at after HOT release nerco and engineer are improved alot but ranger just slightly better.
i am only asking a FAIR competitive game play, guess some people just didn’t check the history how ranger class was treated by dev and start pretend all know everything “teaching” others what to do…. nuff said i am done
(edited by EvilZombie.6801)
EvilZombie would actually be correct here.
Rangers do not have the clearly broken mechanics in this game (other classes do). Just like pointed out DH mechanics. We are the class that fits into meta because !META! means easy results to people (not efficiency). No kidding. Rangers were an answer to dungeon meta long before HoT came live and druids with it. Did people care? No, because it was hard to play ranger correctly and you wouldn’t recommend inviting a ranger to your group. Not more than 10% knew their stuff – aka Rangers were not meta because people were dumb.
Now we got appealing stuff to everybody (including newbies) which made them fit into meta easier, while making us mathematically appealing even to min-maxers (which is a big deal).
However, when it comes to PvP when burst is all that matters, we do not bring enough relevant support to get into high tier PvP without burst. We just don’t have the stuff. The damage we have is way too unreliable (coming form AI) that you simply cannot go with the roulette if you want to go into competitive high tier PvP. We have easy and obvious counter = focus fired.
Everyday life of Druids is completely okay. PvP, PvE, WvW, we are fine in all of those. In PvE we became meta (both 5 and 10-mens). When it comes to PvP, we are nowhere past fine. We are just fine. Which means viable for PvP, but not suitable for tournaments.
However, when it comes to PvP when burst is all that matters, we do not bring enough relevant support to get into high tier PvP without burst.
I think you and I are playing a different meta. The burst meta is a myth that was created before the season, but everyone is playing sustain at the highest levels. Tempest bunker, necro, scrapper, rev, and druid. Rev and scrapper are the closest thing to burst, and that’s just because they’re so durable they can be ‘glassy’ and bunkery at the same time.
DH, DD, warrior and to some extent mesmer are pretty much never played, and those are the 4 professions with most burst and least sustain.
DH does show up all over the place in the lower divisions, but that’s such a noob spec you stop seeing them shortly after you enter emerald from what I’ve seen. Obviously they had 0 in ESL at any rate. Burn medi DHs are making a bit of a come back because traps are so lame.
However, when it comes to PvP when burst is all that matters, we do not bring enough relevant support to get into high tier PvP without burst.

You can create a burst even if 4 people target 1 person and all use their hard-hitting attacks or condi bombs simultaneously even on sustain builds.
And all those classes you mentioned deal as much damage as a Ranger does on a Berserker / Marauder build. With 1 exception. They can play cleric or whichever other defensive stats they can. We have to go glassy.
In all teams they call targets and burst them down, swap targets and burst again.
Well, Ranger’s burst can be negated by so many ways (even body blocking and for Bristle even side-stepping) and takes 3 seconds to take place. Nope, that’s nowhere near suitable for this content.
I didn’t really mean “burst” as in form of berserker thief or anything.
What I meant was that we do not help bring people down in any reliable way since we are usually those on defensive being focus-fired anyway.
its not a bad weapon but it scale too badly on healing power, you can crit damage multiple times within 5 sec but you cant crit healing at all
0 healing power solar beam heal 80hp
1000 healing power solar beam heal 120hpYou make it sound better than what it actually is. I would love to have those numbers and scaling with Solar Beam vs what it currently is…
0 Healing Power Solar Beam: Heal 66hp
1600 Healing Power Solar Beam: Heal 114hp
I run a Druid in WvW, Celestial armor with toughness/healing accessories. So while not the 1600 noted here, nor 0, it is still crap. The poor numbers are not going to prevent me from playing the class but the ancelloray heals from some of the staff really makes me wonder.
Do the developers or designers really think 114 or 120 hp makes a difference let alone counter anything on the player that is benefitting from it?

***snip****
You are not asking for much really.
Then again, any Ranger in the know already knew it was going to be like this. We didn’t have anywhere near the number of hours in HoT beta compared to other classes. What is sad is that the Revenant did and is still broke.
For me, HoT was a bust. I tried it, but maps and event system didn’t do it for me. I like the idea, not execution. Then again the whole master level thing is a turn off for me due to DaOC and their Trials of Atlantis expansion pack (yeah, had master levels too). I only PvE/HoT now to do a few events to get some sigils and runes…
Other than that, it is only WvW for a bit longer. Server is turning into a train wreck because, well, again devs are caught napping and its stale. I can make the Druid work for my playstyle. SPvP, either I am bad or I can’t find something that works for me. About the only thing I find even close is just running zerk with LB/GS and stay on Stronghold maps. At least that way I can pew pew and progress.

Love how you say stop the lie, yet it’s you that is speaking bullkitten, lol. Still gonna spread your proganda that Druid is a terrible healer?
Another reason to hope Bristleback doesn’t lose number of shots (and a definite reason for it to be used in PVE): Strength of the Pack.
The ability works almost like Engie Pistol Poison Darts. They do not track target and they scatter. Which means that on a stationary target form range they don’t hit as often as the maximum number of darts is.
On a moving target from range it’s far and far less. I started using my Spider. The 3 sec immobilize makes a difference.
In my opinion, Bristle indeed deserved the nerf. I mean, it was an incredibly powerful attack for the CD it had. However, it was the only thing a Ranger had.
And we got stuck in our useless position once again. We don’t deal damage, now pets don’t do stuff, we still have no real way to survive focus fire, they nerfed CAF, everything is bugged or clunky and I’m reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaally getting tired of their sh@#.They haven’t skipped a single freaking patch to avoid nerfing the ranger. Not a single one. They haven’t addressed any of the most required changes like being reliable. But hey, they made us less competitive for no reason. That’s cool.

If you don’t get it right the first time, keep on sucking until you do!

Three weeks if we’re lucky. Heal As One got nerfed in less than a day!
