Guardian / Ranger / Mesmer / Necro / Warrior
Played since 1st online ‘demo’ months before the BWEs.
The ranger trait ’Hunters Tactics" adds 10% damage to attacks from the side or behind targets.
The Superior Rune of the Thief adds 10% damage to attacks from the side or behind.
Do these stack, has anyone tried it?
Thanks,

Thanks,
I know the % damage increase from scholar runes and WS 25pt stack (% increase while over 90% health) so I’d imagine that it’d be the same for skirmish and thief runes.
I believe they do, but it has been awhile since I looked at flanking.
If you ever want to test anything like this, the weapon vendor in the pvp mists sells steady weapons that do not have random variation like most weapons do.
Using those, just shoot a practice golem from the front, then shoot from the side and you will be able to see if it went up 10% or 20%. Will also make it clear to you just how far around the side you need to go for it to count.
Just remember to change back to normal weapons before joining a match because steady weapons aren’t meant to be used in actual combat.
Thanks for the tip about the constant weapons. I only enter the PVP area to test stuff, so that is very useful to know.
I did as suggested and it does seem to stack.
I am going to run with these(the thief rune and Hunters tactics) for a few days in PVE.
I tried it for an hour or two this morning, and can’t tell yet if it is better, worse or a wash with going with the ranger runes for a flat 5% damage increase which at least applies no matter what direction you attack from. The Thief/Hunter’s combination really takes veterans and champs down faster if you can get beside or behind them, but that is not always possible.
