I really like them. What I dislike are more the adept/grandmaster traits.

Especially Predator’s Cunning feels great and heals for a ton in the right build. Judging from this thread most people lack the ability to test stuff properly. It actually heals almost 5k with a single Viper’s Nest (given that you hit 3 targets with 3 ticks but that isn’t that craszy hard on point). Just doing stuff like sword 3 and dagger 4 or shortbow 2 will still give you about 1k hp. This trait is good.

From average pvp levels onwards, there are basically no situations in which 3 people stand in your vipers nest. Condi ranger is a 1v1’er for pvp.

Not 3 people but 2 people, 3 clones, a pet. It isn’t that hard to get 3 ticks on multiple targets – I am not saying you will heal the full 4.5k everytime you use Viper’s nest but even getting 4 or 5 target hits out of the 3 ticks it will be 2-3k heal. This is one skill. Sword/dagger add multiple stacks and so does SB. This adds up.

And I think it is absolutely enough if a trait CAN be good in specific builds. There are plenty of traits that are always kitten so I don’t get why we complain about stuff that can be efficient when used wisely.

Still, a condi ranger remains a 1v1’er. Only a mesmer or another ranger can trigger this trait a bit effectively. I don’t complain about this trait, I think the idea behind is good. But its a PvE trait, and obviously a lot less effective in PvP.

Predator’s Cunning could be better by changing it from “Steal life when you apply poison.” to “Steal life when you strike a poisoned foe.”

This.

I’d like to see Second Skin become another source of Protection. Like "Take 33% less damage from conditions when you have Protection. Whenever you have 3 conditions, gain 3s of Protection. 6s CD or w/e something like that.

And this.

And a quickness apllication on the third one when you hit a target under a certain health threshhold.

Anyway, this is what I would personally do with the traits.

Let’s go for broke. More synergy with powerful, defining GM traits.

Sounds good. But i would still add some protection application to second skin. Maybe protection when you use a healing skill.

The laughable part of Soulbeast’s trait it’s they assume you’d pick up either nature magic or wilderness survival, forgetting to add protection proc inside the trait line.

The trait should at least grant protection after successfully does x action.

Also all the grandmaster traits are terrible too…
It’s like Soulbeast’s trait purposely does HALF the thing any other traits does.

It’s like traits developed back in 2014 era which most of the traits are garbage, that Anet need to merge most of them in one patch. Soulbeast’s trait is like half the package of everything.

I, sadly, also feel that some of our trait lines, as developers speak of them, top, middle and bottom lane, feel bit lack luster. They don’t really seem to follow any specific trend or fantasy for soulbeast, or even any specific theme. It is a bit unfortunate that the grand masteries, for example, seem so unimaginative. Now the condi/damage increase based on health difference has some idea, it’s different, sure. But for example surviving killing-shot when you are in beastmode feels like something that should not necessarily be a trait at all. I don’t personally prefer such taking trait space, and it should be something that can be one way or another activated or be part of the whole thing by nature, but it feels like it’s unnecessary as a grand trait.
