Also depending on your server, most servers I play on don’t care what profession you play on for WvW. Granted, sometimes we need tanks more so than healers and elementalists… but if you can take and tank on any profession like GW2 does allow, then you can be helpful to most WvW zerg parties and havoc groups.

Here you are wrong. The condition based trapper ranger inflicts tremendous damage (at the expense of sacrificing almost all survivability) and can down WvW / PvP bosses very quickly

I got tired of the cancerous community (I frankly consider the Barrens or the Gold Saucer a step up from this game half the time, and that’s pathetic), and was stressed out trying to keep up with the Living STory’s achievements (while trying to advance in the base game’s), so I played different games. I only recently had another class besides Ranger hit 80. Not that it’s your god kitten ed business.

How would this build be helpful to someone who wanted to be playing the druid ? I say this in respect to what this thread is talking about.

Edit: Seriously, an expansion is imminent This is the normal time in an MMO’s life cycle for players to return; all the moreso when it was B2P. And you idiots are here pretending all strange faces on the forums are ~Mysterious Strangers~ whom, GASP! PLAY OTHER CLASSES.

To be fair, this isn’t what I had in mind, in comparison to the toxic way players tend to treat each other in dungeons and the standards set for LFG, but you know, it qualifies.

I’ve been really enjoying my Druid so far. Looki9ng forward to playing it more. The healing helps a lot especially when running solo stuff.

The biggest issue these betas should be high lighting and going into HoT will high light just how bad the ranger really is. We have no real burst ability, with every class not gaining access to really good sustain there are certain elite specs we can’t beat ever unless they mess up or it is a 2v1. Scrapper/Rev/Reaper have an insane amount of sustain in berzerker gear and in some causes our DPS will never be able to out damage it (Scrapper/Rev).

Core Ranger needs buffs, and it needs buffs now. Sadly devs won’t fix this though, they don’t listen to this community nor care about it.

most players are just a sheep that accept any beating from ANET and take it as a reward. I cannot defend my self or any other main Ranger players because I know that we will always be treated like a nobody by ANET.. Roy please be done with it and stop making a fool out of us, we pay for the game too…

I find this funny because these same people like you making post saying Dragon Hunter is better healer than Druid…. so if true, what are you worried about? Wouldn’t groups take DH over Druid for a healer?? Lols…

Guys, the OP doesn’t always make points in the best way, and I don’t always agree either.

But…. Celestial Form is absolutely too linear in function, to the degree that it affects the flow of gameplay on damage oriented builds that balance aside, just feels functionally awkward to use.

I spent all day refining builds and testing them in PvP matches and dueling, and I can say straight up the Celestial form needs damage and/or adverse effects on 1, 2, and 4. It doesn’t need to be great damage or anything, but I would like to be able to proc Ancient Seeds on foes I hit with CF3 and really just threaten anything while I’m in form with something other than the extremely avoidable 5 skill.

Staff as well, it really either needs more power scaling or like, poison (fits with support theme) and the wisps should definitely do the damage and/or poison that the skill does. Staff 4 also should be a much, much more damaging skill, and also a 2 second root or get some stacks of bleeding attached to it. It’s a slow moving, slow activating skillshot and does not do enough to justify the using conditions of the skill.

Before anybody tries to tell me “yadda yadda Druid no DPS, not designed to DPS,” I totally agree, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t lacking in basic usability by being too focused on doing nothing but healing. Celestial Form shouldn’t be an indicator for an enemy to be able to jump me safely. It should cause enough of an adverse effect for enemies to have to go “better be careful, I need to focus this guy but he can do X to me that isn’t something I can just walk out of like CF5.” And Staff, staff shouldn’t only do stuff to enemies by autoing (I swear up and down using staff 2 is a DPS loss and barely heals enough or scales with healing enough anyhow).

Inb4 “blah blah but healer blah blah you’re doing it wrong.” Not at all. Even on healing based specs, I stand by my statements, because CF still is awkward to use due to combat flow and nonthreatening, and staff still would need improvements.

I have been a huge lurker for the past few years mainly because others said what i felt and i didn’t think i could really contribute to the conversations. I am pretty steamed about the Druid, and the complete lack of serious improvements for Rangers, because of this i am now stating how i feel. Sad fact though is that all of what i feel is vitriol and anger.

I refuse to be a sheep anymore. Sorry but Roy will be my poster child for the constant neglect and outright abuse Rangers have suffered for over 3 years.

I seriously challenge Roy to make an anonymous Ranger and try to get into high level Fractals, Dungeons, SPvP. Just make the attempt to join them and see how it feels to play as a Ranger.

I’m not saying you’re a mysterious Stranger, I’m just pointing out that some of the opinions on this thread (base Ranger is okay and wanted) is exactly the opposite of people who have actually played the Ranger for the last three years. There’s a big difference there.
