Space Marine Z [GLTY]
Full power plus Intelligence
Space Marine Z [GLTY]
I haven’t tried it, but I could certainly see it work. I suppose all Soldier builds use Sigil of Intelligence, it just makes sense.
Imo your critical damage is to low to see the difference, so I don’t see the point.

Well power is meant to be worth more than crit damage, and that was before the ferocity nerf. It really depends on what maul crits for i suppose. If its 7k+ it might be worth it.

when you trigger sig of hunt maybe 4-5k. I gotta say the crit nerf really hit rangers who don’t go into skirmishing (which is a bad trait line unless you’re ranged).
You dont need sigil of bloodlust on both weapons, it stays as long as you dont remove the weapon to your inventory. Leave it on your axe only then you could put something like sigil of air on your greatsword which benefits from the critical and power. You’ll probably get the extra 2k you are looking for there.

Hard to comment without the purpose of the build.
Seeing the stats, I’d guess it’s bus in WvW?
A non-precision crit build is possible, though hard to pull in in bus.
(doesn’t go well with signet build)
You’d need, as other states, some more crit damage (can do that by changing the armor and a trinket from soldier to Valkyrie, and changing the runes to Melandru (relying on the pet to take conditions off you is not much of a good idea) for some more toughness (since it’s no more in armor).
then you’d need to trait remorseless, and hide in pain sight, plus take a pet (pig family) to give you some more invisibility, though the best would be to pair up with a thief or mesmer… at least until foes start falling and dying…
with a signet non-precision build and low crit damage, you’re as well to take permanent, on switch or on hit sigils on the weapons, along with one bloodlust…
yes iv’e tried it, but with full zerk. I can tell you that i have serious issues playing without intelligence on my GS these days. I simply cannot find any replacement for that in one of my sigil slots. It simply is too valuable.

Full zerk seems redundant, wouldn’t you have like 60% crit chance anyway?

redundant, perhaps, but running it in in a setting where you are guarantied to hit extremely hard in the first place makes it valuable.
Zerk damage is very high, add that to a 3-step rotation that in and of itself is devastating, but this time you get 100% zerk damage, not just 60% chance to get max zerk damage….
yes, i may be min-max’ing a little bit too much, but when i use GS or Sword+axe i really want my bursts to land and hit hard, each time.
Intelligence sigil is also amazing with axe offhand, as you can get 100% crit chance on PoS, both ways.

I gave this a crack last night:
The burst is actually pretty decent. Maul was hitting for 5k with SotH active. Swoop about 2-2.5k, and Hilt bash about 1-1.5k.
I found the playstyle very difficult though. Axe/Axe is a terrible combo defensively and this build relies on the weapon swap.
You’re also screwed if you miss too. The cooldown on everything is just too long.
Might try it with GS Longbow.

I’ve thought of something like this myself. Were I to do it, is go with as much cavalier as I feel comfortable with, while the rest is valks. 30 in marks for remorseless and of course Intel sigils. If there’s a significant amount of vitality, then maybe wurm runes might be in order. Something like 6/4/x/x/0, with x being some amount of points. I’d like to have around 2.8k armor, with the rest out into vit. Something like this should be nasty.
Has anyone tried something like this:
Full power, no precision, but with intelligence sigils for guaranteed crits. Looks like it could have good burst plus survivability.
Has anyone tried something similar?
you also get fury on weapon swap (20% crit chance) so if you add in a bit of quickness and a shortbow it might work.

Crit chance doesn’t just increase your damage, it modifies your damage consistency. In terms of damage consistency:
- 0% crit chance is a maximum – your damage is consistently low
- 50% crit chance is the mimum – your damage is all over the place
- 100% crit chance is a maximum – your damage is consistently high
60% crit chance is pretty close to the minimum. Sometimes your damage will be low (you get a bunch of non-crits), sometimes your damage will be high (you get a bunch of crits). So having guaranteed 100% crits on demand which you can time with certain high-damage skills benefits you above and beyond what the crit chance would suggest.
