I faceroll everytime i get 25 bleed stacks / fire / poison on PvE content.
Not to mention your pet does like damage aswell =X
I cant even remotely think of a class that can get to 25 stacks so very often as a ranger.

Ranger is obviously a DPS class and a good one, what does DPS mean? If what you want is flashy big numbers then no, it’s not a “DPS” class…but then…that’s not DPS.

Most people don’t know the definition of DPS, and expect to see big flashy numbers.

I’d much rather have ANet hand me unnecessary buffs instead of nerfing the broken skills on classes like Warriors, and Mesmers.

you know, because pumping someone full of 3-4k crits coming from both you AND your pet isn’t going to wreck some dude or anything… nope, we gotta deal really big damage with each skill or we’re just bad…

You mean your pet that doesn’t hit?
You mean the arrows that can be swayed back and forth?
You mean Throw dirt, because you used a sword?

The DPS in this class is still garbage even with pets, conditions and whatever else you can think of

Yeah I use a great sword… An my pet hits a lot of the time, funny how that woks huh? Pet has perma swiftness and the enemies crippled most I the time, VERY easy for my pet to catch and stick to an enemy like glue, so I’m gonna say you’re just bad and need to L2P.

Ranger dps is actually pretty good. Rangers are very solid on the PvE side of things. PvP is where they lack because pet dps is not consistent and its harder to achieve flanking.

Huge cast time? Not really. Huge build up? Nope. Roots them in place? Yea sure, but that’s not a massive deal with this ability. Cooldown isn’t that bad, at all.

The cast time is long enough for anyone to dodge, unless they suffer from slow reaction, or just aren’t paying attention.

It doesn’t matter how many skills you spam to get full adrenaline, as you’ll still have to wait for that cooldown.

Yes, the skill is broken because of the damage it deals in WvW, and does in fact need to be toned down, along with 100B to keep intact with the PW, HS, and BS nerfs thieves got because of their damage.

The damage certain skills deal is indeed ludicrous, I agree, but the core mechanics are fine as is.

The CD isn’t that long. Like 10 seconds? 12? That’s not exactly long. The 20k damage you see in those videos, i’ve not got close to that yet, highest I’ve hit is 12k (my gear is pretty much full exotics with 40% increase crit damage)

If they nerf the HB damage, then they need to do something about the mobility. The skill is so easily dodged its ridiculous. You have to specifically use bull charge, frenzy and HB which in fact leads you open to a LOT, making you feel like a one trick pony. If they nerf the damage on HB, they need to make it more mobile.

Considering they nerfed PW, which also suffered from the exact same issues as 100B, yea…it’s justified. Not to mention the fact that 100B hits harder.

40% Crit Damage is nothing. You can get 114% Crit Damage in PvE…ergo WvW.

After checking the wiki there is a 10s CD on the kill shot skill itself, which isn’t that bad, but you need to attack 10 times for the WEAKEST version of the skill to be used (by attack it means 10 skills, not 10 hits) and if you want a full powered shot that’s 30 skills that need to go off for that 20k

It’s hits, not skills, and it’s slightly less than 10 hits per Adrenaline bar so 28-29 hits will completely fill your Adrenaline.
With Healing Surge, Signet of Fury and/or Berserker Stance you can use Kill Shot pretty much every time it’s off cooldown.

Condition builds are nice for solo but if you want to use that as a PvE dungeon/boss killer then it can be useless due to the 25 stack limit. If you have other classes that also stacks lots of bleeds then either you’re getting cheated or they are. It varies on group make up though. This is why I prefer the crit builds myself.

I think its hilarious i got “infracted” for making this thread but its still up, lol

People get infracted for stupid reasons, mainly those that point out flaws in the game. ANet (or the mods) can’t take criticism, constructive or not. If you praise some part of the game you will get a dev posting a big fat THANK YOU though.

Ranger DPS is bad compared to EVERYONE. Beating a class (Probably the WORST 1v1 class) =/= higher dps/fair amount of dmg

Well, I don’t recommend igoring the downed player and just leaving it to your pet entirely, because, I’m pretty sure if a downed player kills your pet it will rally them.

killing a pet actually does not rally them, so leaving your pet is always a good thing to do.

And the whole downed vs healthy players depends on several things, the prof, their traits, their runes, etc. For example in PvP it’s not uncommon for my pet to just completely destroy someone the second i hit downed because they get quickness and just absolutely wreck people lol.

Then you have my friends thief who literally does more damage while downed then he does standing, but then again he wears orrian runes (quickness at 20% health which tends to activate as he dies), he has the trait that increases his downed damage, and then he has some other effect where he can get quickness off of crits or something? i don’t even know, i just know he can destroy while downed, but then again, a light breeze kills him, so he kinda needs to be front loaded with his build…

Ranger not a dps class? Then I must have built mine wrong as I have more ranged damage output on my ranger than any other profession in my guild, warrior included. Because in a party I can safely keep myself at 1500+ range and still do damage (yes, ranger can still hit things at effectively 1800 range), I can sacrifice basically all survivability for pure damage.

All classes have a way to build pure direct damage, period. Some will be better at it situationally than others, but all can. Please remember this.

Comparing any professions’ pve direct damage to warrior gs is just setting it up to fail. Having a weapon cooldown trait that gives might on crits guaranteed for the highest damage multi hit weapon skill in the game is sure balanced.

Stace (Lv 80 human quickness portal bot) | Sarcasmic (Lv 80 elixir-drunk norn pyro)
Saladtha (Lv 80 salad sidekick to bears) | Dunelle (Lv 80 eviscerating muppet)

yeah, im gonna say if you are going to build your ranger around dealing damage with the weapon in your hand alone, you sir are doing it wrong and should reroll another class.
heres the sweet deal.
your DPS you oh so love comes from your pet. how so? lets say on average i hit 430 dmg at max range with my longbow and there goes my pet and smacks the target for 1200 damage consistently. now i went to sPvP with almost identical build, with more traits etc. i hit my enemy for 2.2k crit and 700 dmg i think between minimum range and half range. my pet consistently had dps above 3.2k with absolutely monstrous 4.5k crit

so i figured instead of trying to squeeze all of the possible power out of myself i though F that and went down the tanking role. so i tank the player while the pet just goes to town on them. it works, i out DPS’d a valentine thief [thats heartseeker spammers] out gunned a warrior with o ho and behold a rifle, i out dps’d another ranger with shortbow with traps and a moa, out dps’d a greatsword warrior because he spend most of his time sitting on his kitten and stunned into place. let him stun you, get close start off his 100 blades and just use lightning reflexes and let the pet keep pwning it. keep a stack of 20 vulernability from the get to and make use of it by swapping to greatsword close the gap with nr 3 hilt bash him in the face just to piss him off and add bleeds use nr2 and once he starts hitting you use nr 4 and knock him flat on his kitten again, once the vulernability wears off either fear him away or go to longbow and point blank shot from melee range and dodge backwards, keeping the distance. by now i have eaten out at least 2/3 of his health and he is popping his heal, since no one expects you to be able to keep up the damage from afar he is comfortable with taking hits. but once he notices that the arrows hit absolutely nothing and the pet deals the 3k and 5k hits, he starts paying attention to the pet. which swiftly vanishes.
any single build on a ranger that focuses on doing a single job is 100% guaranteed to fail.
if you havent learnt this already, then please get it in your head, Ranger’s are Jacks of ALL trades. Master of none!
so instead of going pure dps, go a hybrid that does 3 things, even fitting 4 roles work on a ranger with a single build. we are not a class that focuses on a single aspect leaving weaknesses left right and centre. we are rangers, survivors. its what we do.

I could argue that not everyone has the same playstyle when using their Ranger and it might be more risky than the other supposed builds that people might think is the right direction to approach.

You can either focus on yourself (as the ranger) for benefits while you use your pet for Conditions/Stuns/Crowd control.
OR
You can defer your ranger’s offensive abilities and turn him/her into a support ‘petclass’ working solely around your pet for strong damage.

And that’s not all the ways you can work around your Ranger. There’s many options.
At the end of the day, each different strategies or whatever you want to call it, all give the same result.

It depends mainly on the player that controls the character. But then again, this profession requires twice as much effort to achieve the same level of results compared to the other professions in terms of survivability and offensive abilities.

Sorry, but Rangers are bad and their DPS is garbage. No amount of how you feel when you play your ranger, or “pwning” terrible players in WvW will change this fact.

It’s true that Ranger’s are nothing compared to the other Profession’s in terms of Range and Melee capabilities. But more importantly on the Ranged potential. By ranged, I mean the use of bows.

I personally think Anet just spent way too much time wrapping around the concept of nature and equality with the Ranger that they forgot the fundamentals of what a fierce Ranger can do in battle.

‘Rangers rely on a keen eye, a steady hand, and the power of nature itself. Unparalleled archers, rangers are capable of bringing down foes from a distance with their bows. With traps, nature spirits, and a stable of loyal pets at their command, rangers can adapt to any situation.’ – Guild Wars 2 Ranger

If a Ranger is as people say a “Jack of all trades”, then how can a Ranger be anything BUT an archer. According to that bolded statement, Ranger’s Excell in the use of bows and are unmatched with the skills of Archery.

Then why are other profession’s that are allowed to use bows are better at it than Rangers? Why do they deal more damage with the bows compared to Rangers? Is it because they have more skill? But didn’t the Advertisement just say the Ranger’s are Unparalleled Archers? And Why are Ranger’s skill with bows seem pathetic in comparison to the other profession… This does not justify the statement of an ‘Unparalleled Archer’ because clearly the other professions can do better archery than Rangers.

I’m sure you’re all smart folks, and I don’t need to mention the following, but I’ll leave it here anyway.

It is easier to dodge a single hit (especially one that you see coming because of a long charge up), than it is to dodge a multi hit (because even if you dodge the first few, you’ll still take the rest).

except to dodge that one skill, you actually have to use your dodge skill rather than just strafe back and forth.
The arrow travel speed is so slow that at max range, players only just have to keep strafing back and forth for about 1/2 (or more) of our shots to miss.

Second, the pets can’t hit moving targets… makes them useless in pvp unless your target is either bad, stupid, both, or being rooted/stunned/etc by your teammate.
You outgunned a warrior? prove it, show screenshots or videos of your 21k+ hits.

Maybe in pve where the enemies tend to stay still, allowing your pet to do dmg. But here’s the thing, pets are beyond squishy against aoe.

I’m lv 80 in full exo and my pets consistently die from aoe unless I’m using a ranged one (still die to aoe from the bosses) or a tank pet (which does crap dmg compared to any other pet).

Thief with 2xdaggers/shortbow and caltrops. But it will be aoe with impressive radius and twice as much phisical damage. Even faster than the ranger to a point, it seems. The entire screen is in the numbers. Unforgettable sight. )

Yeah but that thief will be useless after that seeing as how their initiative will be gone… And last I checked the ranger puts his up with 2-3 skills the thief has to use caltrops and then spam leaping death blossom until their initiative is gone

I faceroll everytime i get 25 bleed stacks / fire / poison on PvE content.
Not to mention your pet does like damage aswell =X
I cant even remotely think of a class that can get to 25 stacks so very often as a ranger.

Thief with 2xdaggers/shortbow and caltrops. But it will be aoe with impressive radius and twice as much phisical damage. Even faster than the ranger to a point, it seems. The entire screen is in the numbers. Unforgettable sight. )

Yeah but that thief will be useless after that seeing as how their initiative will be gone… And last I checked the ranger puts his up with 2-3 skills the thief has to use caltrops and then spam leaping death blossom until their initiative is gone

Do not quite understand what do you mean by 2-3 skills.
Ranger can keep stacks of bleeding only on one target (anyway, I have not seen the huge kite radii in dungeon or mobs line up to their backs to you). A thief can easily hangs bleeding on all mobs in pack, with AOE damage causing about 70% more than ranger’s AA. When the initiative was over he can attack to the point with a huge damage (as I noticed autoattacks of daggers thief’s most powerful damage to a point in the game) with a 7% chance to regain the initiative. There is a roll for initiative. 20% to gain initiative from any crit. Usually pack experiencing up to 2 series of DB spam only. In any case, thief can do 1 DB every 2-5 seconds and the total damage will be dramatically exceed damage of ranger (Incidentally DB – an automatic evade that veeery good, i think).
Obviously, in this comparison the thief wins. At the expense of the conditions as a whole – necromancer can easily keep 15 bleeding and poison in ANY number of mobs in a huge(very-very huge) radius. Unfortunately ranger here not standing next too (
