Only 1 BWE to test the Druid
Its a kitten shame but it is what it is. Watching the other elitle specializations it is clear how important are the feedback loops from the beta weekends. We’r talking about massive balance changes and twiks for most specializations. I hope we’ll get a very polished elite specialization for the the last BW and that we’ll be one of the main focuses for the balance team for the few weeks we’ll have until release.
We’ve only had 1 beta weekend yet for those classes, maybe they won’t tweak them as much after the next beta weekend and rather focus on thief, warrior and revenant elites. Then for the last beta weekend they’d mostly only focus on ranger and engineer.
And people still claim they don’t play favourites with the classes.

I dont think its got anything to do with favouritism. If A.net could have it their way, I’m sure all specializations would had been revealed by now. Its simple, specializations increase the pre-order sales and A.net wants ppl to pre-order ASAP. I guess the dealy is based to real timeline issues.
Already had little hope for ranger elite spec, now I have absolutely none might aswell start to main my warrior at least you know they will care for your class then.

They could do BWE with all classes done, then balance them in BWE waves.
Getting 1 BWE is terrible, so what if we give feedback, there is no room to test ANY changes Anet choose to make / not make. It will go live as they want it, we know how much love they’ve shown us in the past…

Dont think its just about balance, i think i realy wasnt ready. And engi is on the same boat with us, do u think a.net also “hate” engis?

Then wait until they are? Do they think leaving them to lag behind in polish is a good idea?
The game is coming out in 2 months, if Ranger and Engie aren’t ready we should probably be worried.
We are worried.
Actually after this beta we will have 1 more so maybe the will do a special event before release allowing us to play all the elite specs in the open world so they can get the balance right.
They probably been working on these 2 forever. Probably just needed some “help” with the other 7.
LOL, be grateful druid even gets 1 BWE…. Heck I’m shocked they even remembered there was a ranger profession to even make an elite spec for…
With raid content being much more difficult, if Druid fails to live upon it, I can already see “Raid group no ranger ty”
With raid content being much more difficult, if Druid fails to live upon it, I can already see “Raid group no ranger ty”
Like all the other game modes?

LOL…so true, I can see the complaints now.
Again, the bigger problem is the average Ranger player that I’ve dealt with is usually subpar… I’d rather take a subpar warrior or guard than a Ranger because they’ll be worth more to the party…. ANyway, yeah, one BWE to test the Druid and the Forge. That’s it. Big disappointment… Keeping my hopes extremely low and in check because I know they’re designing these elites with 5v5 capture point in mind and not PVE end game. I think following jcbroe’s advice about using it …. that’s the best course of action for sure.
I’m certainly worried and disappointed at only having 1 BWE for Druid / Forge.
I mean, people can say “Well, maybe they’re the most polished so they don’t need as much testing” but I think its been well proven at this point that no amount of polish Anet can put on content will ever equal up to a proper live server test. There will always be bugs, there will always be ideas the devs thought were just amazing that the players are less than impressed by, and so on. Numbers alone ensure that (players outnumber devs exponentially), not to mention differing opinions.
Just the sheer amount of changes some of the current elite specs are getting is impressive. In a good way. But its a process that takes more than one test to iron out. I think every single elite spec that appeared in the first beta weekend has at least a few changes that are situations where its “we’re going to see how this works for the next beta, and if its still not enough we’ll tweak it some more”. Which is fantastic… until you get to professions that only HAVE one beta weekend for testing. Then all the changes are going to be rushed out the door in time for launch, and knowing Anet they never rarely want to “overbuff” so there’s a very real chance that Druid and Forge will be released in a transitory state where there’s still changes waiting to be done and tested.
I certainly understand that they want to draw out the reveals to keep the hype train going, but knowing how close they are to launch I really wish they had rushed the elite spec reveals a bit more (maybe not taken a 3-4 week break after the first batch). With only 2 tests to go, I think every single elite spec should have been shown and ready to test in this upcoming weekend.

Druid better be some fantastic spec, or I may just have to hang up the bow. Not something I want to do, but I am not confident at this point. As many others have said if Druid fails, Ranger is effectively dead in pretty much every game mode, except maybe WvW Roaming.
Only one? Na, the Ranger elite specialization will probably be revealed after HoT goes live… I called it first!!!
All joking aside, I hope it is taking the longest because it is the best and not because it is the least impressive and least likely to impress anyone to buy HoT. Chronomancer is awesome, might just have to switch to Mesmer permanently. Can only play the underdog for so long…
Illustrious Exhausted Primordial Legendary Druid, and Mesmer for fun
PvE | PvP (1500)| WvW | Fractals | Dungeons
Probably spagetti code holding things up, trying a bunch of different directions and things until something sticks. It’s not like we need solid direction or anything, I mean our standard trees have always been perfectly optimal and haven’t had traits all over the place…
If it has anything to do with the pet and getting that AI to respond, then that will be what’s holding it all up, bet it’s a nightmare, at least they’ll find out how bad pets really are.
none of these specs could have been considered even remotely playable before multiple rounds of player feedback from mass testing. and theyre still not good.
I believe the druid will be rushed, and in a terrible shape for launch, going off the decision-making pattern of the devs. and it will take months before the elite specs don’t feel broken, in one way or another. this is why I cancelled my preorder.
Was anyone expecting anything else?

I seriously wonder why Ranger pets are still so bad, I mean even our Necro minions got fix’d after 3 years… If they can get that daisy plucking Golem to attack and work as intended, why not your pets? (And yes, I am perfectly aware that they should have fix’d your pets before minions even if i hated those dumb kittens, because your entire profession mechanic relies on them… So no need to bash me for “always crying about Necro when Ranger is in a worse state”, k?)
I do think it’s funny that they said they wouldn’t release the expansion until it was ready and polished, but now they’ve already picked an official release date before even having revealed the Ranger and Engineer elite specialisations and before Warrior, Thief and Revenant elite specs even had a beta weekend.

Because they don’t care. The least looked after with the least played, ship the rest working no one cares about the other two.
It’s all PR rubbish as usual, say as many buzzwords as you can get the hype flowing, let people buy the game before you’ve done anything and away you go!

Ironically, Ranger is the most played class in the game IIRC.

Whether it is or not, we’re still in an awful place unfortunately.

The statistic was actually second most created profession. That graph was released two years ago for the first anniversary of the launch of GW2. It didn’t track actively the number of players on a profession at any given time, but rather, the number of characters created with that class.
So in that aspect, the ranger ranked second. The most popular classes would, in my opinion, be Guardian, Warrior, and Elementalist, not necessarily in that order. But those are the classes I tend to see the most, especially in PvE.

Crossing my fingers that the Druid doesn’t appear in Berserker form with only one BWE to be had.
whats worse is that druid was THE FIRST elite spec that they revealed,
you have to scroll back 14 pages of news to april 23rd, since then, absolutely nothing.
what the hell happened?

This ^
Created and played at max level over, say, 300 hours are two very different sets of data.
One includes newbies and people trying the class for the first time or even making an alt for pvp daily.
The other indicates the amount of people who stick with the class as one of their mains after using it fully in most, if not all, game modes for a long amount of play.
I think it shows that Ranger is the 2nd most anticipated class. A class many like to try out. It being one of the least played classes shows how far they missed the mark with it.
