Pet-less "Ranger" option to point players to!
Working on: Engineer
Depends on gameplay. But the read makes them sound less damage oriented than the ranger. So I’ll keep my bow/pets (I don’t use traps).
We’ll have to wait and see … but if that barrage-looking skill does equivalent damage AND immobilizes or traps the target in the AOE … I’m going to be rather perturbed.
Try your best to not make mistakes, but, when you do make mistakes, learn from them.

great, so we now know, where to send all the pet haters.
The mob has spoken and the turrets shall be burnt at the stake.
“Swoop wings”, check.

Yeah not very inventive on their part.

We should have an all out brawl… Rangers vs Guardian Rangers. I bet the number of pets would decimate them and they would be forced to bow to the pet.
Too bad we didn’t have another F key which causes our pet to tea bag the downed victim which gains the Ranger and pet stability and condition removal.
If they don’t have piercing shots, our pets would block a large number of projectiles.
At the same time, they can wall all day long … so we aren’t going to shoot through that … it’d come to melee … or our pets dying and then us being shot.
Try your best to not make mistakes, but, when you do make mistakes, learn from them.

Well, if they kill our pets 1st, we get our IWAY maxed out anyway… oh…
Actually, that would be a good skill for us… lol
It is a strange choice, imo, longbow and traps on a guard, makes it quite Ranger-y.

Barrage over their walls.
Surely our range will trump theirs. Flank both sides and RF with piercing on both sides. Go melee>swoop>signet of stone>maulathon
One player on the Guard forums was saying that it makes sense to them and that for those who are familiar with how GW1 works, specializations seem like a way to do the dual classes in GW1.
He believes that:
Chronomancer = Primary Mesmer + Secondary Necro
Dragonhunter = Primary Guardian + Secondary Ranger
Will have to see the rest of the specializations, but it’s an interesting thought … not sure if I feel like Chronomancer is Mesmer + Necro either.

6 gods, 6 dragons, 6 specializations we don’t know about yet. 6×6×6 is 216. 2+1+6=9. 9-6(gods/dragons/specializations we don’t know about) = 3. 12(months)-5(May)=7. 7+3=10. HoT is released in October.

May aswell take a break from the game if HoT only releases on October…but I’m too addicted to this game. The cries.

What kinda scares me is that I perfectly followed that process.
God I friggin hope Dragonhunter is a huntard class with all the meaning, so all the qq will go away.
Go play a dragonhunter/whatever you like.
Rangers are a class that’s working with pets. Stop crying about it. It’s been 2 friggin years. God!
Depends on gameplay.
Which is what so many sheep glaze over when yelling at the top of their keyboards to go play another class.
But the read makes them sound less damage oriented than the ranger.
All the Elite Specializations with HoT release will be CC/Support and not DPS. Jon Peters confirmed as much already.
@TheFantasticGman:
Do you have a link to where Jon Peters confirmed that?

Once again, Sebrent, you can google it yourself if you want to see it. It’s been there and referenced in other threads on this forum.. But, I’m feeling especially generous with my time today, so here LET ME GOOGLE THAT FOR YOU.

MMORPG: Specializations seem like a way for roles to be further defined in party situations. Will we be seeing support, crowd control, healing, and all those traditional roles with each different specialization?
Jon Peters: Yes, specializations tend to fill a specific role. However, part of us realigning the skill and trait system is that we’re trying to make sure the normal professions—not just with specs—have more specific roles for players to play, and more distinct playstyles to fulfill those roles. Part of our combat system is all about having the ability to change roles during combat if you need to by weapon swapping. That way, everybody can make parties and you don’t have to wait for a specific profession. Anyone can pick a specific role and try to play that way. Specializations are a way for characters to still do this, but to go a bit deeper into the control and support roles in particular to reinforce more of that kind of gameplay with this system, and with the types of new creatures and content that we’re building into the game. How these work and play out will become even more apparent when we introduce more challenging group content coming to the expansion.
Bam. They are going CC/Support for the Elite Specializations. And that is reinforced if you look at what information they have released about the new Elite Specializations. They are all about crowd control and support. Never once has anything from Anet said they are about the DPS role.
I don’t think that took you that long … and here’s a nice agreement
- You be nice and help others
- I’ll be nice and help others.
If we were all nice and helpful … we’d all win :-)
Thank you for providing the link and info.
It’s not me questioning you, it’s me wanting to know exactly what you’re referencing.
If I didn’t get the link from you, I’d find something and come back and ask “is this what you were talking about?”. I’d rather just ask you and skip a step.

am I the only on here who thinks pets will be very strong with maxed out BM, and when combined with 2 other GM’s? u guys know birds still whack people for 6k with 25 stacks of might, which is very easy to stack with axe?
the guard is my other main, so im happy about the DH spec. but I don’t think he’ll be as offense-oriented as my ranger.
well dragon hunter reworks virtues… so maybe druid will remove the godawful pet

pets aren’t being removed. but their taunt is looking really strong.
- Waits for “Bow Bear vs Bow Guard” threads -
Will update once Path of Fire releases.
@mistsim:
No, I’m there with you on the pets getting BM points by default … though it likely won’t be the full 300 since the other classes aren’t getting their full points from their class-specific traitline either …
… though Elementalist can further reduce their attunement cooldowns by taking Arcane … so maybe one of the minor adepts for BM will change to give us those last few BM points for our pets.
If you want to know the effects of BM points on your pet … please see this post I made over a year ago with the math for it.

Regardless it’s not about being nice or not, it’s about time management… that time I won’t be getting back which is why I almost never google things for people when if they really want to know they can go find it —> using their time, and not mine. Of course, I view my time as a much more valuable than others I guess since I work rotational. If you or someone else couldn’t find the article you’d be SOL and I wouldn’t bother continuing the conversation any further… I wouldn’t lose sleep over it.
If you make a claim that someone has said something or quote them, you should supply a source for that claim, else we end up with people just making up quotes about everything/anything they feel like, to validate their opinion. Don’t quote unless you provide the source. The burden of proof is not on the reader. Simple.

The same reason follows suit for those that may not know… Like myself. I’ve got better things to do with my time than to read endless pages of interview crap. The forums are full of speculation some more grounded than others.
In any event I am ready to jump into this update for my BM build.
Now they can choose between warrior, guardian, and thief if they can’t stand pets.
As their mother, I have to grant them their wish. – Forever Fyonna
Aye, they can choose any class they want. I won’t care one bit. They’ll likely still die and complain in whatever class forum(s).

It’s great that people that want the archer will have more options. Sadly, there’s no other class that plays like a melee Ranger. I know, I’ve tried them all. Sword+Dagger thief comes close, but it’s still a distant relative.

Like I said, if you really want to know, you can go find it.

Uh, it wasn’t a claim. I know it wasn’t a claim because I read it in the interview. There’s no “burden of proof” needed because I know it’s already there. If you saw a “burden of proof” need that is on you and I don’t really care. So, I’ll quote all day long if I feel like it and not provide the source because I don’t really care if you believe me or not because it’s irrelevant if you believe me or not. If you want to know you can go google it yourself or just do whatever, I don’t care.
Can’t change my main’s profession, so wouldn’t work for me anyhow.
A shame fun things could not simply be fun.
Surely our range will trump theirs.
I actually lol’d at this. Never assume that because your a ranger you will have the best of anything when it comes to ranged weapons. Currently yes, we do have the max range.
But c’mon…think about it. How long do you think that will last? And no they won’t increase the DH’s range, they will just reduce ours…cause…you know…we’re rangers.
Thief will be the new sniper ranger if they will gain rifle
Just the WvW
R3200+
Thief will be the new sniper ranger if they will gain rifle
The warrior rifle would be too similar, the other route they could go would be too similar to Ranger LB so I can’t see thief getting rifle. I’m hoping not. I think it will be Mace MH.
Uh, it was a claim. I know it was a claim because I didn’t provide evidence for my statement. There is a “burden of proof” needed because nobody else knows if I’m telling the truth or just making this up as I go along so as to validate my opinion. You saw my lack of “proof”, that is on me and I really care. I’ll quote all day long if I feel like it and provide the source because I really care if you believe me. I mean, merely by posting on a forum I’m showing everyone that, so I may as well do it correctly. If you want to know I’ll go google it for you.
FTFY
See what I did there? Nobody likes to be mis-quoted.
Claim; To state or assert that something is the case, typically without providing evidence or proof.
If you don’t want to provide evidence for what you are claiming to be truth, don’t make claims or quote. Quite easy. At the very least, do not use " " and state that what you are saying is the general gist of what was said, or words to that effect. Unless you provide the exact quote or source, people could search for hours to find the exact quote/text from your paraphrase. At least give people some idea of where they can find that info.
Pretty please.
