Pet loosing aggro
Some mobs just have a better a.i. than others, like risen for example. I know that anytime I go to attack a risen mob I know that my pet will have the mob’s attention for 3-5 seconds before they all turn and attack me.
Best bet is to allow your pet more time to attack to gain more agro before you move into the mobs agro range.
Aye, but yesterday I went up against Black Bears and just sent my Brown Bear in…I did NOTHING…just stood there watching and tried it several times…still the mob ran to me after a few secs.
I’ve noticed, in general, that rangers have stupidly high aggro(particularly in Orr). It’s kind of sad since our damage usually isn’t that high. But, I’m talking even with other players attacking, not just pets.
Maybe there is some sort of proximity aggro system. Or maybe ranger’s just have super high aggro abilities. I’d love to know.
Also, dying does not seem to clear your aggro count. I’ve died from that crazy ranger aggro, then people have resurrected me, and immediately found myself back on top of aggro and being attacked.
I personally believe rangers have built-in high aggro on their abilities, or that the AI was designed to target rangers for some reason.
I just started playing the game and i am experiencing the same issue. The pet aggro is compeltely broken. I send in my brown bear to attack without actually attacking myself and within few seconds the mob is on me. This happens regardless of the enemy type. The pet aggro in this game is broken and needs to be addressed.
This game really doesn’t have an aggro table. Mobs will be on one target and then randomly switch.

pets are not supposed to tank for you they are supposed to do damage with you. for your pet to take aggro they have to either do damage better than you or heal more often than you. one of the reasons rangers take so much aggro is through use of troll ungent healing you and your pet, same with any heal but troll ungent seems to grab the most. if you want your pet to “tank” for you find vitality toughness gear and spec 30 points in to BM tree that way your pet can do damage and you stay alive to heal it.
if you want the damage potential then be prepared to tank for your pet
Risen seem to respond to ranged attacks more quickly than melee attacks. I noticed this a few days ago. Using a longbow and a melee pet, I will almost always get aggro instantly. Using a melee weapon, the mobs usually stays on my pet.
Mob hate is pretty varied. It makes things interesting.

Actually it does have an aggro table, but like the rest of the game; it’s inconsistent
80Rng – 80Wa – 80Thief – 80Grd – 80Ele – 80Engi – 80Necro

I guess, bugs are considered a feature in this game.

I laughed.
Yeah I have reached the point I just consider most of what I see and what happens are part of the game no matter how silly or broken it seems.

Yeah same with me, nearly all mobs walk straight past my pet to get to me, and they didn’t used to.
Even more rubbish for Rangers now as most of the time somethings trying to rip our face off.
Great stuff.
