With the current infor we have, here is what I believe will be a good choice for a Frontliner Ranger build for WvW that would work well in zergs and full party situations, after Specializations hit. Subject to change of course. Let me know what you think….
Traits:
Marksmanship:
Opening Strike Minor – Cause vulnerability with your first strike when entering combat.
Alpha Training Minor – Pets have Opening Strike.
Precise Strike Minor – Opening Strike always critically hit.
Beastmaster’s Bond – Cast Call of the Wild when you swap pets
Beastmaster’s Might – Activating a signet refreshes your opening strike and grant might to you and your pet. Signets recharge 20% faster.
Remorseless – Regain Opening Strike whenever you gain fury. Opening Strike deals 25% more damage.
Nature Magic:
Rejuvenation – Gain regeneration when you health drops below the threshold (75%).
Fortifying Bond Minor – Any boon you get is shared with your pet.
Lingering Magic Minor – Boons applied by your and your pets last longer.
Bountiful Hunter – You and your pet deals 1% more damage per boon on you.
Windborne Notes – Call of the Wild also grants Regeneration and Warhorn skills recharge 20% faster.
Protective Ward – When you receive damage nearby foes are weakened and you gain protection (assuming it is protection for the ranger…)
Beastmastery:
Instinctual Bond Minor – When you are downed, your pet gains quickness .
Loud Whistle Minor – Reduce recharge on pet skills and swapping by 20%.
Pet’s Prowess Minor – Pets move 30% faster and deal more damage on critical hits.
Resounding Timbre – Shouts apply regeneration and swiftness to allies. Reduces recharge on shouts by 20%.
Two-handed Training – Greatsword and spear damage is increased by 5% and those skills recharge 20% faster. Greatsword and spear attacks have a 50% chance to grant fury on hit.
Beastly Warden – Your pet taunts foes near them when executing a command [F2] ability.
…Or…
Honed Axes – Gain 150 ferocity while wielding an axe in your main hand. Winter’s Bite is now AoE. Axe skills recharge 20% faster.
Utilities:
Heal: Heal as One (now shout) or Healing Spring
6-8: Lightning Reflexes – Signet of the Wild – Signet of Stone
Elite: Rampage as One (now shout)
Weapons:
Greatsword – Axe/Warhorn.
Sigils:
preference really. Good choices: Energy. Fire. Bloodlust. Force. Battle. Etc…
Runes:
Melandru, Hoelbrak or Trooper.
Food/Utility:
Lemongrass soup, Sharpening Stone.
Stats/Gear:
Celestial/Cavalier/ Valkyrie
Pets: Drakes
Important Features:
- Call of the Wild is a Blast Finisher (3 blasts plus drakes blasts)
- Heal as One will have a 16 second CD with Resounding Timbre.
- Remorselessness is a guaranteed Critical +25% damage every time it is renewed, and can be renewed easily and often.
- Maul is Reduced to 4.5 second CD
- Pet will hit like a truck and have higher survivability due to fortifying bond (boons shared)
