Protective Ward
I see what you did there, heh.
But I ask you this, what CD would you put on a full or even single cleanse on the pet?
A single cleanse is near pointless unless it is every 3s and a full cleanse will have a high CD, close to the CD for a swap. IF that is the case, why bother, just make pet swaps more attractive.
Has no one realized that pets are constantly dying from conditions, and not direct damage?
Yet, no changes addressed condition cleanse for our pets. <sigh>You have pet swap for that, its on a 15s CD if you spec into BM and is a complete cleanse. I don’t really think there is any need for pet to have any condition cleanses at all. All they really need is a reduction in the penalty for swapping from a dead pet.
Which means you don’t need protection for the pet either, since it’s also a 100% heal.
…
Am I right?
Actually you kind of do. Condition damage usually doesn’t kill a pet instantly. Spike physical damage however does. Protection protects against spike damage more than anything. Blunting the knife so to speak. Making it ideal for protecting the pet against the majority of aoes.
If the pet was living long enough to be killed by conditions in most situations I would agree with you. But rangers can actually maintain there pet against condis fairly well. (provided you micromanage it actively as a BM focused player WILL DO) As most condition application is either aoe, proc based, or single target in nature. (very few cleave condi sources)
In my experience (again im a BM focused player so I play a bit differently than the majority of rangers currently in game) pets die more often to random spike procs than condi damage.
wooot! called it! Thanks for listening ANET!
glad they kept the idea behind this trait but tweaked the numbers some!
