Entangle change is actually huge for some builds. Entangle + runes of the krait for trappers/condition builds. Or with lyssa or any other interesting on elite effects. Remember that it will be that more powerful with the CD and the SoTF skill.
A proper control ranger might be possible.
(New) Rapid Fire + Quickening Zephyr + Read the Wind = ???
Would that cause the RF to complete in 1 second? Also signet actives now affecting us, that is absolutely terrifying. 1 second RF for like 26k damage?
Edit: I have no idea to how to do math. The skill would complete 60% faster, 60% of 2.5 is 1.5, so it completes in 1 second? Correct?

Yea, entangle will be amazing.
Axe change also gives us another way to stack a lot of might on the pet through fortifying bond. Any might copied to the pet lasts for 10 seconds(+ boon duration) regardless of how long it lasts on us, meaning that your pet can hit 25 might in seconds, even without the need for that companion’s might trait in skirmishing.
I’m geeked about the new trait (which is indirectly a 10% buff to sword damage). And I’m finally intrigued by axe as a main hand ranged option (I had already started to come around on its off-hand viability).
Power builds definitely got some love today.

What about Condition Builds? My Rabid/Trap build will be peaking at around 3000 Condition Damage if I keep using Mainhand axe when this balance stuff hits.

My horrible math came up to 1.125 seconds. (2.5 × 0.9 × 0.5)

Want to 3rd that. Huge buff for Entangle since 5s is about the maximum time people get caught in it anyway, just now we ckittene it every 48s (traited). Really awesome.

I’m not sure how stacking speed buffs work. But regardless, that skill is now something that must be dodged. Which is not really something rangers have ever had.

I think people are having wrong maths on how quickness affects the channel of rapid fire.

A while ago it was 100% and 100% with your calculation would have meant that 10 sec = 0 sec time cause 10 sec – 100% = 0
But it was 10 sec / 2 = 5 sec
Now it is 2.5 sec / 1.5 = 1.67 seconds and with read the wind it is either 1.51 or 1,56 seconds depending on how multiple attack speed effects stack.
That burst in 1 sec would be insane and it will not be that fast. But it is still very fast^^ 10 shots in 1.5 sec

It is a massive boost in the fact that it is no longer a downgrade in DPS compared to the auto attack.
However, the maximum damage still does not make us an all round spiker. We are more of a specialized counter to certain builds and classes, especially in PvP.
I actually quite like the fact that they took into consideration that our pet simply cant be a part of our DPS calculations in ranged combat so they compressed the RFire skill AND buffed RtW to give an attack speed increase as well. We were also given a little bit of free sustain with something that is a very good ability.
Also, i feel that MoC melee builds might become used because MoC + SotW active and some might stacks coupled with the buffed Maul and Swoop giving us better power AOE point coverage and durability. my experiences in WvW have shown that a melee berserker ranged does quite well against warriors or squishy thieves, elementalists and engineers. Now with the signet actives…. o m g

You can add sigils to get both of those, but why would you do that? Both of those weapons are 100% power, applying no damaging conditions at all. I guess I could see an argument for poison if you were fighting a heal sig warrior or ele. It’s one of the benefits of using sword instead of GS as your swap.
I don’t want to ruin your mood but the longbow is still affected by 5-7 traits.
It is now more effective at it’s base, but only slightly. The damage boost for low and medium range wont affect you if you play the longbow to it’s strength and thanks to the change to rapid fire, this skill is now atleast no damage loss.
This update I’ve seen wrote down from the Ready Up seems sweet, but won’t resolve the most of our problems. However, some says it will benefit bearbows… I know that I will like it – And I’m greatful for this too.

note it still takes 0.25 sec for each arrow to hit its target from range, at 1500yards it would take about 0.50 with the 100% arrow speed boost, it fires a lot quicker but is only slightly faster at landing , distance<<>>Time=speed , with from point to compeletion i’d say it would take 1.25secs to fire and a total of 2.5-3secs to land a full range 1500yards after a full channel , though rapid fire was more intended to be used at short range , as its not effected by the long range shot machanics.
I will may have great fun using Read of the Wind with faster shooting, sacrificing 1500 range and +5% dmg by.

Pet vs. zerg band-aid fix:
Pets are immune to all damage as long as they don’t attack, ergo as long as they don’t deal damage.
Pets regain immunity when they go out of combat.
