yea i dont actually use a condition build in tpvp. im talking about wvw. given the way the gear is setup in pve, you just do way more damage going tanky conditions. and most people dont have access to double raven.

i haven’t played WvW so can’t comment, but play a lot of SPvP and i do extremely well in duels, 1v1-3 situations and i don’t use a condition build. Just Sayin.

I don’t share my build, not because i think it’s some secret sauce of awesomeness, just that i hate the cookie-cutter culture, and don’t want to see loads of other ppl running it w/o even understanding why it works and putting the work in to experiment like i did. But basically it’s just power, signet, toughness. I’d be happy to duel (not saying i can beat anyone lol) and you can judge whether it’s worth it’s salt

Well. SPvP duels have nothing on WvW duels. We are limited to builds that work in duels for SPvP, where as WvW gives us wide range.

I duel every single day in both SPvP and WvW.

If you can build your ranger right you can juke attacks like 9 times before waiting 2 secs for a skill/shortbow utility or endurance to regen and dodging again. Though I play four different classes, Ranger is still my top choice in WvW with both bows, runes of mad king, sylvari race take root elite, and traited towards playing flanks as well as knowing when to attack and when to run, I always have a major blast. Plus it puts a smile on my face every time I shoot someone off a cliff with longbows point black shot.

i said, i’m NOT saying it’s some awesome secret-sauce build, just saying trap build isn’t the only viable one. If saying so is wasting your time i don’t know what you want from me? Posting my build isn’t going to prove it, take it from an avid theory-crafter: builds that look great on paper often suck. So the only way to prove it’s viable (and hence not waste your precious time) is to play against it, which i already said i’m more than happy to accommodate.

@Sol, i never finished PvE before getting sucked into sPvP so i don’t have the gear or even the traits to duel in WvW (my toon is lvl 57). I plan to some day though.

just to bring us back on topic, no one here is saying that rangers cant duel or get kills or that they arent fun. OP states that every other prof wipes the floor with the ranger in terms of WvW contribution/role (support, anti-zerg capabilities, burst, long range dps, etc.). other profs and respective specs are feared in the hands of good players. in the hands of amazing players, rangers are average or subpar in most WvW situations.

Well, he does offer a caveot in running around solo… I’m sure his sPvP skill set will allow this and that it would be viable in picking off straglers, etc. I don’t feel useless in WvWvW, but I sure do feel I’m the KING of the battlefield. I’m great support DPS for folks who actually kill other players.
