Ranger issues that need fixed
Just popping in here to remind everyone that literally anyone that is saying they have increased damage after this patch is a liar or was not paying attention pre-patch
I’ve already posted all the numbers and comparisons when I made the thread. If you have anything to disprove those numbers, please show it to us. Otherwise, please stop trying to misdirect the point of the thread, and help get Anet’s attention to fix things so the class is playable again. Just because you are having fun with the new stuff, and just because the stuff is new, does not mean it good and does not mean its functional.
Most of the damage decrease numbers you posted were across the board – everyone suffered them, not just rangers. You’re never going to get that back because it was simply lowering the baseline for everyone.
The other point you made – that we lost of a lot damage-increase traits – I can’t comment on because I don’t know the other classes well enough. Have they lost damage-increase traits too?
To compensate for the lowered baseline damage, Anet modified a bunch of traits to give you ways to dynamically get increased damage. So it is totally on-topic to be bringing up this “new stuff”. Personally I think it’s a great improvement to the system. Before you used to be gear- and trait-locked. That is, you had to run a certain build with a certain set of equipment – e.g. Marksmanship + Skirmishing if I’m using Berserker gear. Deviate from that and you lost a lot of effectiveness. Now with traits not giving stat bonuses, you have more flexibility to mix up traits with an equipment set, without losing as much as you did before. It reduces the tendency for meta, and makes non-optimal builds (e.g. condition traits with Berserker gear) more viable. (Relative to the current state. Everything goes out the window if you compare to the previous state, which is what you’re trying to do.)

Yes, other classes lost damage from stats as well, but other classes did not lose damage to the level that ranger did.

No, in fact other classes that did not have damage boosting traits gained them.

This didn’t actually do what you are saying though. Every build requires remorseless, most require quick draw, and if you want condition cleanses you have to take wilderness survival. The new trait system does allow for build diversity, but the traits themselves that are available for ranger do not. You will also never get rid of the tendency towards meta, as you already have that going on with this new system. Please, just get the stars out of your eyes from the shiny new system and look at the actual problems with the current available traits, as well as the problems with damage that it is causing.
Also, your point was basically “the current system has more potential for fun builds” which is correct, I will not argue that, but the traits themselves totally screw that up, so its just wasted potential, followed by “other classes are having problems too, right, so its not just you” which is horribly inaccurate because no other class completely lost viable builds.

‘Scuse me but Ele want’s to have a word with you. And Necro which still get’kitten with every patch.

You only need those lines with a power build. Condition builds can vary without Marksmanship. You can also run Support with Nature Magic and whatnot. Or go the Pet bunker way (Which is still slightly bugged atm).
If you just focus on the berserker power build you won’t find a class with 2 even builds as there’s always the best being meta.
He has a legit opinion there. Stop bashing on him just because your opinion doesn’t align.
Wasn’t zerk mesmer and thief (and medi guard) the only way to go zerk if you played that amulet before patch? Did something change in that regard after the patch? I haven’t really played enough SPvP since to come to a decisive conclusion, so honest question here.
Changing the trait “7% vitality converts to power” into “7% healing power converts to power” isn’t a bug but it is kittened so I would like to draw attention to that :p
Also would like to point out that elementalists use bows better than Rangers. LBs used to be a medium dps and medium reward weapon…. Now it is low reward and higher risk since other classes got buffs that lowered their time to kill us. Bows were a defining weapon of the class and yet Anet is trying to make Rangers another melee class like rest of the pack.
Edit: another “bug” (as in unintended consequence to changes) is that Rangers must switch pets out very very frequently to sustain a buff that our class seems to have been balanced around Devs assuming it is always up… This means every 25 seconds, you switch your pet and the new one is forced to run or fly from you to the target. For ranged Rangers, this can be yet another large dps loss as pets take kittened pathing. It is a punishment for ranged Rangers using the class mechanic. Ranged pets like devour or spiders are unusable because the f2 skill is instant and will only hit those in proximity… They will not run closer to insure skills hit.
An example of the detriment of these changes to pets is obvious in Forest of Nif. Rangers can not take the high ground up top because pets have to literally run down, around, and up the stairs in each pet swap.
… Imo pets should teleport to target x.x
