Rangers are way to over powered in that they have way to many invisibilities at there disposal and are able to use them to often. I watched 1 ranger take a group of 6 out single handedly by just going invisible in WVW. Anet, you need to look into this and fix it fast. This is bull.

Superior Runes of the Trapper – 3 seconds of Stealth when you use a trap

I have been playing since release and I’ve never seen or heard of a ranger killing 6 people singlehandedly in WvW against non-braindead players.

Rangers do not receive any bonuses from stealth, unlike a thief who does have the ability to win 1vXs.

Also, in my experience trap rangers can not handle that many players at once due to the little/no access to stun breaks, low condition clear, and low personal sustain.

To add to that, longbow trap rangers fare even worse because you cannot deal enough damage on neither power nor condition attacks.

So, in conclusion, if you saw a longbow trap ranger pull off a 1v6 against a competent group, either that was the best trap ranger in the game or you are lying.

Few things probably happened here

These six players were so terrible they possibly have issues figuring out how to equip weapons. Thus being a L2P issue

No way is it possible a ranger to win a 1v6 unless ranger like I said is the best in the world and the six defeated players are astronomically terrible and all up levels.

I feel this thread accurately describes the average intelligence of the majority of rangers that jumped on the LB/GS Zerk fotm.

as a thief, i was thinking about swapping to ranger for the traps and rune of the trapper. trapping is so much fun, and its BA in wvw for tower defense, i think ima just stay thief though, traps are fun on thief, just not nearly as good, or you’re right, no bonuses from stealth. my thief, with trapper runes, has plenty of survivability… theres no doubt that trapper ranger is more fun than trapper thief though.

I play trapper ranger with runes and youre right its fun as heck. Ive had to go back to using a longbow (which is a downside to me but its been long enough it feels fresh) but I can almost maintain perma invis.

Stealth+thiefs guild is a Pain in the butt, same solution try focus the main thief still , CC the thiefs guild and kite focus on Aoe/cleave type attacks .

Thiefs guild is a huge Distration + damage if you decide to engage the guild thiefs, it also gives the thief a chance to burst you down.
