So, i had an idea for two elite traps now that Torment is out and about, the first idk what i’d name, but it’d allow you to place 3 traps, however if you try to place them within X distance of each other it’d destroy the previous trap so you need to spread them out to utilize the multiple placement. What the trap would do is trigger once apply Torment and Cripple.
The second idea i had (which would likely be more useful in more than just PvP) would be Smoke Trap, which would explode causing a fairly large amount of confusion and torment upon triggering and then leave a smoke field behind (them standing in the field would do nothing). It’d be very powerful and worthy of the elite slot due to the 2 conditions it applies and then it’d give us access to a smoke field which we could use with the large amount of finishers we have to cause blindness, or stealth giving us an edge.
Thoughts?
Alpha strike, dust trap and tracking (stealth toons)
These were removed from game – I suspect Dust trap will come back as an Elite. loooool
250 year’s of ranger power-loss. GG.

The smoke trap is a really cool idea. Something like a base 60 (48 with traits) cooldown to give us Runes of Lyssa synergy, like thieves and baski venom.
Celestial Avatar is like an old man: Takes forever to get up and is spent in 4 seconds
I still really want a dust cloak trait that gives us blind on roll.

Smoke trap sounds awesome and would add fantastic group utility.

I specifically said smoke trap, not dust trap, smoke trap is an elite trap from Gw1 that applied Daze (would be too Op in this game) and blind (would be nearly worthless if it were like how the trap in GW1 operated), I’d be totally ok with a Dust Trap too that did tons of damage and just pulsed blind, but I feel that’d be better suited for a utility skill, not an elite.
Alpha strike would be a cool addition (and I hope it comes back) but it should NOT be a trap, if anything it’d be a shout.

Yeah I was thinking it should be strong enough to be an elite skill, but mild enough (like basilisk venom and flesh golem) that the CD should be on the lower end.

Cool ideas, I wonder what ANET has in store for new elites. If it’s anything like this, I’d go for it.

Yeah, and im just letting you know what traps they HAD available, until they removed it. I played Gw for a number of years I know what smoke trap is.
Agreed Id prefer it to not be an elite. I disagree with smoke trap being op if implemented, We need a Equalizer. Badly. And that would be a good start.

Why not add Torment to Entangle?
The skill traps up to five enemies around the user with destructible roots which cause the following effects every 1.5 seconds:
Direct damage
1.5 sec Immobilize
8 sec bleeding, resulting in 14 stacks of bleeding, allowing the stacks to reach a max size of 6.
On release, 2 seconds of Torment.
Note – torment is applied on release.. and should be unblockable.
(I have to know! In WvW, do Legendary NPCs drop Legendary loot?)
I dont like the idea of Rangers getting access to Confusion or Torment..I would like to see a Trap that benefits our pets tho.
Something like a trap that when an enemy steps on it our pets gain 10 stacks of might and haste and attacks furiously the target

We already have access to confusion, and A LOT of it through the Warthog pet (can get up to 15 stacks) and then our Reef Drake also has confusion (5 stacks), so us having confusion is something you should be used to by now.
And idk why i’d want to use a TRAP to buff my pet, that’s kinda what shouts are meant to do…

what about “command your pet to set an explosive trap with a kitty over it and when an enemy touches the kitty the trap explodes causing AOE knockback and make your pet laugh”?
it sounds funny
XD

I dont think that many Rangers uses Warthog and also is an random F2 skill that it is bad compared to other F2 skills.I will agree that Reef Drake has put some confusion in the table, still tho doesnt benefit from Rangers cond dmg and it does less dmg..Both are not reliable source of confusion so no,im not used to confusion and ill probably never be
Actually exept shouts also signets buff pets,Spirits, haste…Only traps and Lightning Reflexes doesnt benefit the pets at all..So thats why i would like to have a trap that buff pet

Just because it’s random or few people use it doesn’t mean it’s not there, and that confusion scales off of the ranger making it very dangerous.
And traps help the pet like muddy terrain helps the pet, it makes the enemy move slower so the pet can hit it more easily.
