Survivor Build?
Here is the build I run with presently: http://goo.gl/UAWOv
You may consider it, I use it for both PVE and WvW as it’s a little unorthodox but a pretty solid all around build. It has both good survivability as well as maintaining fairly high damage output as you really don’t want to sacrifice all of your damage as a ranger. I run LB/SB, but for the laughs I will occasionally swap SB for GS. It utilizes Power/Precision/Toughness gear with Superior Eagle Runes. I run with Beryl off-pieces and corresponding gems on that which gives you some vitality to boot with extra damage.

Omniderad. I have the answers you are looking for. For a couple of months, I ran the setup you are looking for. There are two good ways of being survivable as a Ranger in WvW, and I will discuss two of them here.
First things first, your main gear stats will be healing and vitality, after that you want toughness and either power or condition damage depending on how you want to play. Let’s face it, you only care about survivability, but you’re still going to have to fight, right?
You will want to spec either 0/5/30/30/5 or 0/5/30/5/30. There are benefits and bonuses to each for survivability and it only matters which you prefer. If you spec 0/5/30/30/5 you will use the nature spirit as your elite skill and it can run with you.
If you choose condition damage, I would suggest a mixture of gear that has Apothecary and Shaman stats on it. If you choose power, I would recommend gear with power toughness and vitality mixed in with jewelry of Cleric stats. Use Dwayna runes on the armor.
I would recommend using some combination of sword, torch, dagger, greatsword, short bow, or longbow as they can all help you survive. It’s a matter of preference for you.
You will want to use Mango pies as your food. Use Troll Ungent as your heal. Use the fernhound and some form of bear as your pets. For skills, use protect me, the speed signet, and the rejuv signet.
These things make up the base of being hard to take down in WvW roaming away from the zerg. If you have questions, ask away as I’m sure I missed things.

Spirit ulti if you’re stationary ( rez+healing )
Rampage as one if you are running ( stability )
Look for vigor and regeneration traits. Go for sword+dagger and greatsword for evasion and interrupts. Utilities gives you a lot of choices: You can go for signets to improve regeneration/toughness/condition removal, survival skills for vigor/snare/quickness (quickness improves evasion from weapons), traps for chill/cripple snaring, or shouts to take advantage of your pet. You pets can give you a choice of regeneration, healing, snares, interrupts, protection, weakness, condition removal, or improved damage output. As for armor/accessories, you should go for healing power to improve all your regeneration, and toughness so you can last longer in melee combat.
Then it’s simply a matter of mixing and matching all of these abilities into a build =)

Gosh…. I must be a bit unorthodox in my build: 5/0/15/15/15 (Lvl60). I use gear that has the Power attribute and currently using only Signets as utilities. (Currently using SB/LB with Axe/Horn)
I cut my gaming teeth on Adventure&ZorkI,II,III.

I’m having huge fun with this build: http://goo.gl/S9tKC
Axe/Torch and Sword/Torch, Moa pets for the extra healing, heavy regen, tons of condition damage, great built-in combos.
fyi, it’s a mistake focusing on healing + vitality. primary stats should be healing + toughness, because healing synergizes a lot better with toughness. so youre either going THC (shaman’s) or THP (cleric’s). dont think you’ll have durability without healing…i went PVT (soldier’s) and was disappointed. u cant skirmish without +healing.
For WvW I’m currently running 0/0/15/25/30 using full Healing/Tough/Power gear.

I basically do what I want and unless there’s multiple people focusing me or I do something really dumb I don’t die.
Earlier today I was killing Dredge in EB since another server had them at the time. There was a thief about and I made him run away several times but overall I just ignored him.
I also ran across a D/D ele the other day at a supply camp (his camp). We fought for a while and eventually I got bored and wandered away. He chased me for a bit before he gave up and walked away too. We just couldn’t kill each other.
I can kill most people easily enough though thieves tend to run away and other bunkers tend to lead to long boring fights that may or may not actually end.
