The Best Thing About Ranger!
That’s a reminder of how I wish the pet system was…just us summoning 1 of 4 animals as a spirit pet with F1-F4. Then it would switch F1-F4 to 4 different things for the spirit pet. F1 would tell it to attack or back off, F2 would cause an offensive skill attack, F3 would cause a support skill to buff the party, and F4 would be a ‘burst’ command where you and the pet do a move dependent on weapon and pet, which ultimately does massive burst damage, but gets rid of the pet in the meantime. The pet would then be put on a 60 second cooldown, with you being able to summon another pet out in about 3-5 seconds. Aquatic pets would be different than the land pets, and all support and offensive skills would change depending on the pet out.
PvE Main – Zar Poisonclaw – Daredevil
WvW Main – Ghost Mistcaller – Herald
Your idea is cool =). though i like having a permanent companion. It’s like PVE:ing with someone.
Why don’t the bows and axe have cool animations? I could go for a nice animation on close range shot, like a giant elephant that knocks people back. Or something for barrage.
Kal Snow – Norn Guardian
The thing i love about rangers is simply the weapon choices and the pets no matter how useless they are at times. but yes those weapon effects are also awesome Wish we could dress up our pets tho and when we give them a name it was actually for that pet and not for the pet slot.
Like our pets juss feel like added damage and not true companions ._. Actually making each pet seem like its own special archtype, we need someone true ranger devs to get this clas where it needs to be.

That’s a lovely idea, but that kind of mechanic takes extensive programming and unfortunately Anet doesn’t truly have the time and/or resources to manage that.
On a side note, the game is pretty good honestly from an aesthetic and action standpoint. If people took the time to just look at the different professions mechanics or just looking at the environment, you’d appreciate the work that was put into the game.
The Ranger’s mechanics with the animal spirit animation from the Ranger’s melee attacks are cool, but I also like just looking at the engineer’s flamethrower attack. It has a pretty sweet effect to it.
And Anet did a good job with the sfx in the game as well. However I do have a gripe with the voices in the game.

AMEN
I love those as well, I just wish some things would be added to the bow to make then more Aesthetically pleasing combat wise, atm it’s just “I shot a bow! I shot a bow again! Oh look! I shot a bow again!”

You know, it would actually be very interesting if the rangers shot bows instead of arrows…
Also, great screenshots. Can’t help but notice the similarity of your avatar to Eir Stegalkin. Especially since I saw this thread about an Eir cosplay XD

Thank You =)
And yeah, i was kinda inspired by Eir Stagalkin. She’s got a great ranger look.
I’m the more good looking version I’ve got tradition tatoo color, she’s got purple. Diffrent haircolor, diffrent armor dye.
@RyuDragnier.9476: your idea is great but as expensive said it takes a lot of time to develop this. To round this idea up combine this with the actual pets. Could be worth to write a pseudo code about it. That would decrement their time to produce it as far as they don’t need to think about the logic anymore.
@Shinya: nice screens and nice avatar. i’ve been amused by this animations too. But there are some missing for bows and the other weapons.
veteran engineer – Whiteclaw Pete – flaming bastard
veteran guardian – Wolfborn Troopa – healing eagle

Yeah. There’s animals i’d just love to see!
Dolyak, Snow Leopard, Lion, Devourer or Black widow, Sting ray and so on. I know lot’s of animals aren’t in the game… yet… =)
Ah, yes… The animations were always one of the reasons I’ve sticked to playing a ranger, simply because I find the class the most aesthetically pleasing in terms of combat. Well, that, and the laugh I have every time I execute the “jellyfish attack”.
Thank You =)

Before I’ve changed the hairstyle of my Norn ranger people kept calling me Eir… Despite the fact that colors were completely different, duh. ;p
I always thought Eir’s tatoos are blue. Always considered this to be inspired by the Pictish warpaint.

Really well done cosplay aside, that photo of Eir on a bus made me laugh. For a second I was like “Eir on a bus, mounts confirmed for GW2!”… My mind does wander in strange directions at time.
