In one day that thread got more views than most of their YouTube videos that have been up for months. Wonder if they are ever going to respond to it.

Yeah, pushing 18k views on the thread alone in less than 24 hours, and no matter what page it ends up on, Reddit links directly to it, so they can’t bury it just by locking it until reddit decides to bury it now.

I also have the entire thing copy/pasta’d, in case the mods start to get a little cavalier with their thread removal because a tiny bit of constructive criticism about rangers makes ANet devs weep like babies, remove threads, and infract anybody who is something something outside the sentiment of “good job ANet.”

Of course, I could probably get infracted just for having the audacity to type something like the above paragraph, but at this point, I think it’s about time ANet stopped with their “shooting the messenger” practices and started just proving the messages wrong. It has been 3 years now after all.

Seriously thinking that every Ranger should start a topic and flood the HoT forum at this point. I wonder if they would just make the full 30 threads with the same OP “disappear” or would they need to just slowly move their way off the 1st page… Or if it would draw an official response.

To be fair to Anet, if it was their staff i think we’d have seen a short red post explaining the lock politely, like “Thank you for your contribution, we understand your frustration, please bear(bow) with us for a couple weeks. In the meantime we have to lock this thread as it’s not directly HoT related.”.

The no-comment lock looks more like the work of a community-forum-mod-warrior or whatever the actual title is.

To address both Heimskarl’s and cafard’s points;

Locking it is essentially shady moderation that boils down to forum censorship, but they couldn’t actually delete the thread and infract me due to code of conduct because I’ve done nothing wrong.
At the same time, they probably figured locking it was the safe bet with the amount of forum support it received, because since reposts are against code of conduct, they are now able to delete any post and infract any person who tries to repost the thread; at least for the near future (around the time it takes for a forum response to be considered a bump).

However, I’m sure they didn’t expect it to get crossposted to reddit, a place they can’t censor or moderate in the same fashion, and then subsequently go viral between it being highly visible, having an admittedly clickbait title, and then locking it on top of everything else.

Pretty sure they are wishing they just wrongfully deleted the thread and infracted me and let me deal with the wrongful infraction in private when they wake up tomorrow and head to work lol.

Can I just take a moment to say, in the most sincere way I possibly can across the internet, that I just absolutely love you guys and this community, seriously lol. I couldn’t even imagine a more fun, entertaining, and engaging community of people/players to be a part of.

It’s the most upvoted post of the day on the subreddit, and it even spawned some spin-off threads. If visibility was the goal here, I’d say you’ve exceeded expectations.

Ohhhhhhh I’m lagging so far behind, I didn’t know Chris had left Anet, I just figured they were too busy with HoT and that’s why the CDIs stopped.

edit: Ugh, posted in a wrong topic. I was reading the tentonhammer article thing and someone mentioned in the comments Chris Whiteside had moved on, didn’t realise I had this topic open so my reply looks very random now. Eep. Nothing to see here, move along.

Finally Rangers getting some of the attention it needed. Hopefully this spurs them to some kind of action to fix things and give us a good elite spec as well. Otherwise they’ll just drown us in bugs for another 3 years
