Hey guys! I wanted to share my WvW setup that I plan on using in a week or so. I need a couple more pieces to complete my setup. I was tired of having many different sets of gear for different situations so I sought out a solution using the Ascended Celestial Items. I believe with this setup I have solved my dilemma.

You will be using one gear set for two sets of builds. Without further ado…

~ Arrow’s Celestial Build for WvW ~

Two Builds ~ One Gear Set
WvW Zerg Warfare Build
WvW Roaming and Dueling Build

I chose this particular setup for a few reason’s, but the main reason was switching roles on the fly. I think this setup does that well. Now, I understand that you can buy a different set of gear as an alternative but I wanted to avoid that if possible.

WvW Zerg Warfare Build
For this setup I wanted lot’s of Bleeds, Vigor, and Crits proc’ing. Also Piercing Arrows is a must in my opinion. Having Constant Vigor up time helps to have a full Endurance bar which in return makes ‘Steady Focus’ relevant.

WvW Roaming and Dueling Build
The trait setup is identical to my sPvP build. Except there is Food buffs and the Crit rate and Crit damage is a lot higher in WvW. Also, for the Sword and Dagger you are using the Apothecary stats.

When I complete my set I will add some videos of it in action.

Nicely done. Anything that makes rangers cheaper to use is welcomed, they’re already high maintenance with all the psychological damage they inflict on the player.

Please keep me posted how this works out, getting ready to purchase some ascended gear and on the fence what I should get.

A zerg build without any fields? without support to your team? without ae against the enemy team?

1) mix in a trap, muddy or a spirit and be carefull with barrage on more than 3 enemies
2) take HS as heal, you will need it to clean confusion (your build lacks conditionremoval)
3) use drakes, they are the only pets hitting more than 1 target
4) be carefull with SB auto on zergs, reflection, confusion, retaliation will hurt you extreme with the fast firing speed
5) axe/torch is viable (firefield, axe bouncing)

These are just my observations and opinions from looking at your WvW Zerg Warfare Build.

• Why are you using apothecary gear with a shortbow and longbow? That doesn’t make much sense to me.

• Sigil of Restoration on your Longbow requires you to have out your longbow when the enemy dies. Are you expecting your target to die when you have them at long range (when you’re most likely to use the longbow) ?

• Longbow is not that great for on-crit effects because of its slow attack speed, except with rapid fire, of course.

• Sharpened Edges applies a 1 sec bleed when you crit. With your condition damage, that’s only 84 damage.

• You have a decent bit of +healing, but you don’t have any reliable source of health regen besides Signet of the Wild which scales very poorly for the Ranger with +healing. Regeneration is the best heal-per-sec with +healing gear. It scales the best of all the Ranger’s options.

WvW Zerg Warfare
I didn’t mention what pets I would be using so Ill post them now. Ill be using either moa’s and/or Jungle Stalker for fury/protection/might stacking which they will not be attacking at all – they will stay by my side at all times. Or switching between ranged spider/devourers.

As for healing, I chose heal as One because it gives the most HP per /sec. When you are in a Zerg, you will be receiving loads of Regen and condition removal from other classes. With 2.8k toughness, you can take quite a few hits before being concerned.

We all know that Rangers lack any real comparable damage in WvW without compromising health and toughness. So I wanted to have the ability to apply bleeds along with decent damage through Crits. This setup seems to accomplish that.

Anet has been known to have incorrect or insufficient descriptions on skills. Example, take a Ranger into the Mists and along with a Shortbow and Sigil of Earth. Stat for 50% crit chance and Sharpened Edges traited. Stand behind a golem and unload the shortbow. you will have a minimum of 10 stacks of bleeds and a maximum of 18 stacks. Have you ever had 10+ stacks of bleed on you at 84 damage per tick? It hurts. Sharpened Edges wasn’t picked solely for Longbow….It was for Shortbow with piercing Arrows. Besides, what other trait would you switch it out for? I can’t think of any that would benefit my build.

With Sigil of Restoration + Barrage = constant full health when you have decent healing power. Which this build does have. All it takes is one barrage to tag 5 guys. As they die you get loads of health = profit.

For what it’s worth, I feel celestial builds are a waste of potential. You get a little bit of everything but a lot of nothing.

You are running shortbow and sword/dagger for your duelist build. You don’t need power. It’s a wasted trait since skill damage coefficients are hardly affected by it. The same goes for +crit damage% since it doesn’t apply to conditions.

You are also using two sigils on the same weaponset that activate on weapon swap. Only one will work, so it’s like one of them has been wasted. Switch the sigil of energy to a sigil of corruption or sigil of life. Stacks on kills will help a whole lot more than +durations or +damage will on a low condition duration build with low precision.

Lastly, you really have mediocre precision. So low in fact that I’d say it’s wasted as well when it could be put into make your character more tanky. Effects that activate based on crits are so few and sparse that the bonus damage doesn’t make up for the hit in survivability or potential rune-based skills that could complement your setup.

My suggestion, focus more on three (four at most) stat lines. Otherwise your build suffers in effectiveness. You’re off to a good start, but I really think you can do better.

It’s just that I have been so busy farming non stop for my Legendary Frostfang….I’m about 150g away :/(Updated: Frostfang is mine! Working on Incinerator).

Unfortunately I don’t think people realize how powerful Celestial trinkets are in PVE/WvW. Most people have Apoth Ascended/trinkets already so it would be a grind to get the Celestial trinkets. Anyways, if anyone is interested or has questions, feel free to ask away.
