ok I was wondering if Longbow has some use in TPvP.. hear me out

I run a bunker build so I’m fighting close up pretty much all the time..

so in general Shortbow wins cus it has better dps close range ect

but i rarely ever use it now,

there was a topic on how to define a bunker, either just holding the point or point control (as in knocking the player off cap)
I was thinking if i swap out Shortbow for Longbow i gain 2 important abilities

point blank shot to push ppl off my cap point (could be very useful)

hunters shot for x10 vulnerability (10% increased damage)

seeing as i dont really use Shortbow I cant really see a down side to this

can the ranger community share their thoughts on this?

I don’t tpvp much, but i prefer longbow to shortbow for the point-blank shot. The ability to throw them off the point so you can gain control is very valuable.

just thinking point blank shot off point, root, fear with wolf just after root, then maybe point blank shot again..

if all that theory works out, would be a nice way to cap

I had the same idea but thought about adding two traps (maybe muddy terrain since the duration is much longer) and coupling it to my boon build with double canines. I would lose toughness with it though so not sure how it would work. However, with boon duration protection should last longer. Time to test and tweak! I think i am going to test it this weekend in tPVP.

I prefer WvWvW mostly and may try a tweaked version for that.

Currently messing with a 100% crit chance long bow zerker build.

Can’t wait until I get better gear (fractal gear), should allow me to hit my break points easier with all different builds. Should make trying more things easier. Bad news is I will spend more gold doing it!

as a ranger that runs a bunker build for the lolz, shortbow is cool stuff, but the autoattack doesn’t even scare glass cannons bc it has no significant condition damage (unless u r running 30 on wilderness and a shamman amulet) or does anything above 300 attack when running a defensive build.

as for the LB, well, it offers point black shot to kitten people off ur point and barrage, to eat aoe damage (but u will be rooted, so use it with quickness).

as a matter of fact, couple of days ago, i had to fight Cruuk (thief). annoying as hell with his stealth. i could do little about the situation, bc he was steal-thing every couple of seconds and neither I or my pet could do a thing about it. I reckon if I had had LB instead of shortbow, I could have done way better defending the node.
