Warhorn & Windborne Notes Trait
Will update once Path of Fire releases.
Lol. You would attack the birds faster, but attack the ranger slower because you’re distracted =P
Taunt would get the opponent to attack the ranger which doesn’t make sense. But hey, id be happy with any secondary effect at this point. Just saying, slow would make the most sense.
ok why would the birds be pecking your eyes? they don’t do that IRL, theyd just be scratching you with their talons.
Yeah, because eyes are invulnerable to talons, the birds are attacking your head, but they never hit your eyes.
This game is not based on RL. In this game, feathers cause blindness and invisibility.
Slow doesn’t seem a good idea to me, either way and especially not thematically. Can you imagine having your head attacked by a flock of hawks (which cannot hit your eyes for some reason) and then becoming slo-mo? Absurd! You’d be running around like crazy trying to get them off. Fear and blindness.

Have you ever used that skill? The birds are clearly pecking at the target’s head/face. Besides, limiting the skill based on the behavior of real life wildlife is kind of silly when you consider rangers are using nature magic to command the beasts to act contrary to their nature.
Hunter’s call should be a ground targeted AoE.
There would be birds flying around in a circle, and whoever enters through it will get attacked by birds.
The AoE range should be as big as Meteor storm/Barrage/Combustion shot.
I’d like that.

Is warhorn meant to be a supporty weapon? If so, why are we attacking with birds.
Adding regen to wh 5 makes it more supporty, and while its not as good as a condi remove/conversion it is an improvement. I think gutting warhorn 4 as it stands currently and giving us aoe resistance. Ranger is not the strongest at sharing boons with team mates and while the new traits make us better we arent able to share some of the strongest ones for a team, like protection or stability. So give us resistance on warhorn. 5 targets. Short duration. Just enough that when timed right your team has a nice little advantage. I think that’d be fun and unique.
There aren’t really support weapons in the game. At best, some weapons have some support function with something offensive.
WH5 is supportive. It’s good now…regen, fury, blast finisher and swiftness. If they made the might 3 stacks, that’d be money. So WH 4 needs to have some offensive utility. My vote is for slow or boon stripping, which we both need in our toolset

Ripping 16 boons off one target is pretty OP on a 25s CD mate.
There are already remove all boons skill and that convert them into condis or remove on area etc.
Btw warriors warhorne removes 40 condis, turn 10 in boons, give swiftnes on 12 sec cd and remove 5 more condi convert to boons, aoe vigor, blast finisher + aoe weakness on 16 sec
Am i missed something? You have a point, but there’s a difference between <strip the boons and allow them to reapply> and <make the target practically immune to boons for 5 seconds>
Revenants come with a temporary “immune to conditions” mechanic. Why not have a temporary “immune to boons” one as the flip side? :p
They do not really “come with” … Warriors have had it for years.
… But defensive and offensive “immunity” is something absolutely different.Being immune to boons means BOTH offense and defense. They will deal less damage (defense for you) as well as be vulnerable without Aegis, Protection, Regen and such (offensive for you).
That’s why the idea is wrong.
That was more for the sake of finding an excuse, i don’t particularly think it’s good, justified or balanced. :p
And i’d argue that your point applies equally to conditions. An enemy can be affected by Chill/Blind/Weakness (defense for you) as well as be made vulnerable through Cripple/Immob/Vulnerability/Poison/etc (offensive for you).
There is no way to lower condition damage you receive…
… Why there should be a way to lower the support you get?
There are ways to “reset” the status by stripping or cleanse.
But being immune to “support” is like justifying heals to be able to be dodged.
Makes sense, but not from gameplay point of view.

Warhorn is a weird weapon.
Hunter’s call is purely damage only. Yet its disgustingly bad. Especially for its cooldown.
Call of the wild is the only support part of the skill. Yet its mediocre. Especially for its cooldown.
4x Necromancer, 3x Mesmer, 4x Guardian, 4x Thief, 4 Revenant
I know ranger already has a skill that grants the ‘Revealed’ effect (‘Sic ’em’ shout), but I think adding a shorter version of it to warhorn 4 could also work; thematically, it fits, we’re talking about a Hunter’s Call
ALSO, by adding the ‘revealed’ effect, it kinda works with the fact that…well… there’s a flock of bird around a target, somewhat revealing!
Hunter’s Call
Call hawks to swarm your foe.
The enemy is Revealed for 4s
It could also be a 2s reveal a START and another 2s at END. This effect would be very situational too, but it’s potentially life saving. Another comment though, adding this effect would pretty much make the ranger anti-mesmer or anti-thief since it has another revealing skill…

This is a nice idea! Adding more method of reveals for counter-play. However, I still think giving blind or slow are good ideas too :/
