Ok, let me get this straight.

It’s just fortunate for the Ranger community that there are a lot of bad players out there, so they are allowed to win quite a few fights because of this, and still feel good about playing the class.

I do love the old argument used in every MMO though, that you continue to use here; (You must fight baddies, while I fight the best players in the world). You could always duel me on any of my toons, and post the video yourself.

But you didn’t fight PZ, or VexX, or Jbuo, or today’s PurP. So you don’t fight the best players in the world. While some of us do. So this is a decent argument.

Anyway, its been said earlier. A lot of people go experiment with ranger because that’s the only way to do it since the only viable build that people think exists for PvP is traps. Moreover, the best dueling ranger build is healing ranger. Which sucks when you aren’t in a 1 on 1 so people probably aren’t using that build. With these 2 things in mind you are probably playing baddie ranger. I can attest, I also have never lost a 1 on 1 to another ranger in WvW. In tPvP however, I have.

But this argument is silly and the OP has it right. Rangers own in the right hands. And I’ll duel you whenever if you wish.

Such a flawed comment that I see far too often.

Disclaimer: I don’t know if Rangers are strong, weak or average. In WvW, in my hands, they are a little above average….but I am only an average player. My twitch is slow and my targetting is horrible.

I have watched a lot of videos and have seen some amazing displays by some very talented players. Does that mean Rangers are strong ? Maybe. Maybe not. I would strongly suggest that the people that have been putting out the videos would kick buttocks on any class. I also bet they could go out in WvW without armor and win their fair share of fights.

So just because some very good players can succeed with Rangers doesn’t prove they are a strong class…….and just because some bad players can’t succeed with Rangers doesnt prove they are a bad class.

I know players in WvW you couldn’t beat if they fought you 1000 times. In fact, you and I both are on Anvil Rock, the server with the most sPvP, and tPvP players, yet none of your sPvP players could kill PAXA on a good day, and PAXA couldn’t beat some of the better WvW teams like AD, NEWL, and so on. And get this, not even AD is the best, so if your sPvP teams couldn’t beat a mediocre WvW team like PAXA, how in the hell do you believe you stand a chance with some of the best WvW teams out there?

That alone proves you’re talking out of your rear when it comes to who is best, and who isn’t. I’m sorry, but sPvP does not have “the best” players, and neither does WvW. Both have good, and bad, but there is no way to compare the both beyond things we can witness, like I’ve never seen a good sPvP team, ever beat a good WvW team in open field combat.

Message me in game, I’d love to see your Ranger beat any of my toons in WvW.

That would be interesting to fight a WvW team. Too bad my team seems to be dead. Also, most good sPvP teams don’t play WvW that I know of. Sadly, since we are on same server we cannot fight in WvW. I’d be happy to duel you a sPvP server though.

The builds in sPvP, and WvW are different, but I’m willing to go back and read all the patch notes to get up to date on the sPvP nerfs, and practice. Keep in mind I’ve leveled 6 toons from 1-80 in WvW.

Give me a week to knock the rust off in sPvP, and we’ll duel. I’d love to see you show me your skills on your Ranger.

Sure, would be interesting. I’m more curious to see how different WvW builds manage in sPvP anyhow, especially on my Ranger. In WvW, I like many others build around our food, which you don’t have in sPvP.

yep, it is night and day. Which is the best proof there is. Great player with two different classes. So player skill is a wash.

Not really, because you guys are fighting over a control point, lifting bunker builds above hybrid, and glass, not to mention the ability for classes with pushing abilities to shine. sPvP is the illusion of balance, not the rule of balance.

The only time you can have true balance is when there is no skill ceiling. like in Starcraft 2, where Koreans display an extreme amount of skill, yet they have no chance of hitting the skill ceiling, shown by a computer who played and got well over 10,000 actions per minute.

Now two toons with everything exact fighting each other would be a better test of skill.

Difference between my ranger and my thief is.

On my thief, I run towards zergs

On my Ranger, i run from zergs.

I will say this though, I actually do tend to kill a bit faster on my Ranger then my thief with condition build. My thief is far more safer though.

This. I have an 80 ranger (my main/favorite to play) and an 80 thief. I’m not at Xsorus’ level of play, and I actually do a bit better on my ranger than thief (due to more practice/hours spent on the ranger).

But the ranger, while able to take more of a beating than a thief, is far, far less survivable. There is no “escape” button or skill to save us if we get in over our heads. We have far less “burst” mobility/speed than other classes (e.g., warriors, thieves, elementalists).

Good play with a ranger is very rewarding but also frustrating. Just fixing a few things (e.g., F2 responsiveness, slow pets who can’t land a hit) would bring MUCH more parity to rangers in WvW compared to other professions.
