PvE Main – Zar Poisonclaw – Daredevil
WvW Main – Ghost Mistcaller – Herald
All they really need to do to fix the pet problem is to give Rangers 85-90% of the damage output with the pet doing 5-10% more damage, with speccing in the beastmastery traitline upgrading the pet’s output to 15-20% without affecting the Ranger themselves. That way the pet CAN do quite a bit of damage, but you’ll have to spec for it (compared to now where they’re doing as much damage as we are unspecced. -_- )
Personally, I don’t like the idea of perma-stow in general. But what is even more important for me is that so far I’m yet to see any suggestion that would actually acknowledge that introducing perma-stow is not a simple case of solving all the problems by adding one button to the game.
Easy… Perma-stow pet and get this:

Perma-stow pet and get preparations instead. So many more possibilities than just pets. We can have two class mechanics, right? Like thieves have steal and stealth (built around initative). And that’s why making perma-stow optional. Those who don’t want to perma-stow don’t have to. Nothing changes for you. That’s why I don’t understand people who are against it because they like having pet… it’s like they don’t like the idea of OTHER rangers not having a pet and that baffles me.

It has been said countless times, but still… Stealth is not a class mechanic. Steal and Initiative itself are. The reason behind Thieves having access to more than 1 mechanic is something I was always curious about. But if the Rangers are given a 2nd class mechanic, and all the other classes will start asking for the same thing, and not without a reason.
I don’t claim that there aren’t other options than pets. What I do claim however is that many people talking about perma-stow, and I don’t know whether they do it on purpose or whether they are completely oblivious, keep ignoring the complexity of the class overhaul that would be necessary to introduce it without screwing everything up completely.
Preparations could make great utilities. Sharpening Stone and Venoms are practically what preparations were, only limited by the number of attacks instead of durations. But a class mechanic? They would either be OP from the start, or toned down to the point of being barely useless.
I don’t think changing the ranger/pet damage ratios or perma stow are keys. I think the health buff should be a good start though. Besides tweaks to pet abilities (like bear and moa are rumored to be getting)—I mean, remember the drake rework? Pets perform differently depending on if the target is moving and other factors. I suggest learning more of them.
I do think they are keys. I think, and it should be painfully obvious, they cannot program a decent AI (as was pointed out in another thread). So, fark it. They can tweak and tweak on it but it’ll never be good enough. So, give the option to not use it.
Curiously, for the people still doing teq, are you guys making sure to abuse piercing arrows and his multiple hit boxes? Standing to the side of him will net you 2x hits with piercing arrows, literally doubling your DPS. Barrage can also hit 2 places at once.
I don’t see nearly enough people utilizing that strategy.
is realy unfair i payed the game same price as others and i dont wont to exploit a trait to do my job properly whe need a dew ho play ranger on day basis and competent on decisions. not a pvp j.s. balancing the game on what he like and what not
ps sorry for poor english

Genius, didn’t think of that.
Screw my pet. Teq one shots me!
So you ran in circles and used range attacks? How many other classes can do that?
Also, front lines…you are telling us the pet never went down?
What’s funnier is…..
the better Squads setting the Speed Records on this thing, don’t even use ranged.
hahah lets post on bug forum mi pet cant jump tequatl wave and other stuff
