I’m a bit of a recent convert to melee ranger, I’ve always been in love with the idea that rangers should be ranged (even though I knew it wasn’t always the most effective thing).

Now that I’ve made the switch I rarely want to take LB over GS unless I’m against a DH or mesmer heavy comp.

The problem with Ranger isn’t that nobody knows what the problems are, people have been telling Anet the problems for 3 years. People have come up with very good ideas how to fix those problems. We had an entire cdi full to the brim with good ideas about how to fix problems or new ideas that they could have used for an elite spec (even though we had no idea there would be elite specs at the time).

If new players want to come into the game and ask about Ranger I am not going to lie to them just so you can have company in purgatory.

ha yes but the minority of new ranger players don’t know what weak or not and then they " fill threads with un-warrented ideas/buffs" so in the end they must learn to play any class first before labling it , a bit like last year before the longbow buffs it was the same people labled ranger as a dead class , people stopped playing ranger (based on opinions) they did not learn the weaknesses only the maths in a vacuum (spread sheets ect) trying to be uber pro without the effort.

the hard difference between dh and a ranger is simply one is better at range which is ranger and the dh is better at melee/short range thats it , there is no " ranger is weaker than the other classes , the quote “so im going to tell people its a dead class or not going to lie to them” keep that opinion to yourself is what im saying because its nonsensical.

if people stop playing ranger , we won’t keep the postion in pro leagues if a stupid rumour spreads , and everyone knows Anet pays more attention to balance from a pvp esports perspective so we need to keep people playing ranger Regardless if its weak or not , as i said before anet does not balance around class popularity but seeing the Real results from a professional player ganders more focused attention also.

we may have had a Thread full of ideas but 70% of that thread where ether repeated ideas in different wordings or just out right stupid , anet picked the best of the time in Relitive balance views, why keep bringing up things that happened 3 years ago (im sure Anet has Buried that pile of trash they work from a present standing not a past or future)

so ignoring all logic and telling people the class the dead GG GJ , no experienced player will listen to you and they will certainly not tell people its dead , its like this current Warroir sucks crap going around because all the newbs keep swapping out defences for even more damage on Beserker mode, they are still viable if a team is smart with a team comp , same goes for ranger and DH.

this game is no longer about Solo-que potentional , its all about team comp , smart play the build is of a equa matter if the build is flexable enough and does Decent damage (non of this crazy gunflame crap) that is what wins matches and if a person can’t do that , it just means they lack Experience .

Dh has been Debunked so many times now its not even funny , they hit hard and die hard , it suffers from the old LB/trapper set up easly stopped by one trait or atleast specing 1-2 traits into defence , warroirs learned that Sheild really is useful for both Flexability + mobility and defence uses that combined with beserker to recover lost damage and its welcome to Legendary tier.

by that would you say Warroir is dead too?

if you use druid, youre going to completely destroy dragon hunters.

sure, core ranger could use a few tweaks and a lot of bugfixes but it is in no way, shape or form dead.

the same way we couldn’t force players to believe that core ranger was worth taking pre-HoT you’re going to have just as hard of a time making ppl believe that ranger is worth anything without Druid.

Newish to druid/ranger, and this has been my experience also. These doofus DH’s get spanked every single time, even 1v2 DH just yesterday and they seem very outmatched against druid. They just have their blocks and traps and their dmg isn’t really that great, super easy to simply out sustain, but they totally can’t out sustain my dmg. Maybe if I ran glass this would be issue, but I don’t and no matter if they are tank or glass I win. The ones who actually pressure me at all seem to go melee in my face a lot more, then I actually have to kite some (mostly because I’m still not that good at kiting to begin with), but otherwise they seem weak against druid.

So, yeah there is a lot more to a build than dmg coefficients on skills.

DHs bring absolutely different way of support to the team.
They bring AoE damage that cannot be compared to the Ranger. They also have some nice tricks that can prevent people from moving an inch (knock, maw…).

This game is not about 1v1.

Just how Ranger can roam with ease, so can a DH bring the target into downed state just like prevent stomps/revives.
We bring objectives. DHs change teamfights. That’s 2 totally different ways of game-play advantage that simply cannot be measured.

Every class is dominant in it’s domain. Druids are just fine.

I see my troll post is going well.

The only thing about DH that is miles ahead of rangers/druids in is fighting reapers.
