Why rangers result in Bearbows...
I’m not sure I understand this thread. It goes from qqing because players using rangers don’t know what they’re doing to rangers’ “bearbow” being OP.
A youtuber named, Brazil, argues that taking a ranger over a mesmer in dungeon runs is a viable position (due to the precision and frost spirit buffs); If I’m not mistaken.
Nevertheless, I must be somewhat the oddity because I’m not even sure if I have a bear in my pet inventory… I am, however, sure that I’ve never used a bear for anything. My reason being, I just don’t like how clunky they are… (Snow leopard/Lynx). I play how I want to though. Good day.
Brazil isn’t the only one who thinks that, it’s pretty much common knowledge that a well-played sword ranger is top-tier in dungeons.
Unfortunately, no one really wants to actually run sword ranger because it’s just too much effort. Even I don’t do it that much and I was the one who originally advocated it, same with Brazil and he was the one who made it popular. To this day I don’t think I’ve ever actually seen a sword ranger in a dungeon. No exaggeration.
if i do pve with ranger
<- s/wh+s/d
but not the new build 30/25/0/15
the old one that i use about 10 months now is still the better dps

More terribads=more people qq about rangers=everyone who encouters me in WvW think’s I’m free points=He runs for his life 5 seconds later=priceless.
Here’s to bearbow’s!
This ^
I use Black Bear for weakness & LB to open, Polar Bear for chill with SB, basically I cut the initial burst of damage, and then I just don’t let them get away, even if they try, with 1500 range on the LB they just die tired.
I can honestly say I’ve never once used a bear in my builds. I don’t need it. Yes the condi cleanse would be nice, but they just don’t fit into my builds at all and I don’t like them tbh. The thing is though, if people want to get stuck leveling with bears and assume they are good for all gameplay, they would do it with any pet that everyone said was best for letting them “pew pew and done”. The pet itself is not the issue, it’s the lazy player mentality.

Erm, you can level almost any of the classes from 1 to 80 in the open world with little more than skill 1, because mobs are extraordinarily stupid and weak. Ranger is a little easier than most, maybe, but I find it hard to believe anyone is forced to learn much during PvE levelling.
This. I have every toon but a necro and I’m highly inclined to agree with this assessment. I don’t have or had any problems leveling my toons in PVE just running around doing heart quests and exploring as it’s just really 1-1-1-1-dodge-1-1-1-1 on any class. It’s just easier on the Ranger because of the we todd ed pet is fighting we todd ed mobs while a Ranger can pew-pew from the back. Lots of people I know that play the Ranger play specificly to use the bows. “Why wouldn’t I use the bows? If I wanted to melee I’d get on my warrior or guardian.” Thats what I normally hear when I ask about why LB/brownbear… Although only time I use the brown bear is when I need additional condition cleanse since we have so little access to it.
my answer, Longbow cats
But seriously we due for a damage increase…
