I used to name my eagle Fergal. But since names get reset so I don’t bother anymore.

My bird is Violence, my wolf is Rear Guard.

The ones I can recall right now:
Black Widow Spider: That booty o.O
Krytan Doggy: De Wauzn
Frostdrake (only underwater): Sid Fishious

I also wish pet names got saved upon change though…

Only ones I use right now are Insanity Wolf and Majestic Eagle.

It’s really pity they didn’t find a way to fix the pet naming system. I honestly doubt that it’s difficult to achieve, and would not believe even an official ANet comment to the contrary-they just don’t consider it a priority, even if it’s likely not too hard to program.

Yeah, storing what, 90 lines of text extra per player (generously assuming every player has 2 rangers) is not a horrible strain on databases.

This isn’t facetiousness, since tone is impossible to read.

Black bear – monokuma (Dangan Ronpa character)

Just wondering, actully, my jaguar called Rosebud (for reasons) keeps her name (yeah, female in my mind, anyway) even if I switch her in and out. Didn’t try between land and underwater, but is it a bug or a fix ? It doesn’t work on the others, I tried, but if it’s a bug should I report it ?

Do you also have her equipped as one of your underwater pets? If you do you can switch her out on land without losing the name.

Her current most promising experiment at any given time (because it would be bookah-ish to “have favorites”) holds the unique title “Weaponization Demo”.

The current titleholder is a moa.

I use a pig for general PvE: John Locke (I love Lost)

Most pet names are puns, but these few aren’t.

Reef Drake – Roofie (and this name is cannon to my Ranger’s RP, people have come to accept it. )The name stuck when he carried Dungeon runs pre- Search and Rescue nerf.

Owl – Hooty, Campion Birb, and for a while, Nuriel, named after the Angel Of Hailstorms.

Wolf – Charles Barkley, or hOI IM TEMMIE

Shark – Deep Blue, named after the largest Great White Shark alive.

Fern Hound – Bark

No pet names because I don’t want to have to constantly rename them every time I change out.

I like the idea of pet names, but until they get permanently stored, I won’t bother.

I tend not to name them either since changing them resets it. But right now I have a Reef Drake named Halitosis and a Siamoth named Juvenile Mole Hippo. I used a pig way back when named Pre Bacon. And a Red Moa named Big Red.
