scaling of elite / healing skills
so, in dabbling with other classes, it seems like many other classes have the ability to trait down the recharge times of both their healing / elite skills (maybe not all, but def some).
it also seems like these skills often scale, especially with power. (ie ele greatsword or the necro form do more damage if u have more power).
just feels sort of like ranger gets boned, since we cant trait down the recharges of either our heals or our elites, nor does entangle scale with condition damage, nor does the healing spirit scale with healing power. this seem fair? balanced? like fox news?
I did not know that. Seems rather unfair to the ranger profession.

I believe that the entangle not being scaled by condition damage is a bug and will be fixed. It must be a bug since the tooltip updated correctly.

lol what? Unfair? We have THE BEST healing power scaling heals in the game, both heal as one and healing spring are 1:1 ratio in healing power, in addition to this our heals also have a REALLY low CD for their healing power —> actual healing ratio. Not to mention Healing Spring is argued by many to be THE BEST heal in the game because no only is a 1:1 scale heal, it also grants regen and removes condis from both you and allies, AND it’s a water field.
As for our elites we can trait down the CD of Entangle, RaO becomes massively OP when you have a large amount of boon duration seeing as how any applications applied to your pet and the initial buffs gained scale off of that, and if you have concentration training all the might applied from your pet attacking (IE get put onto the ranger) has a duration increase of 50%.
And then there’s the spirit… we can double his health, effectively making him immortal unless your enemy wants to waste their burst on it or they have their entire team wailing on it, it scales with healing power (mine heals for a good 440 or so health), can be traited to GUARANTEE it’ll use its active (rezes all downed allies and purges ALL conditions from every ally in range, no not just 5 on the purge), this can give you 3 mass rezzes and condi purges.
We do not have the short end of the stick, you’re just not looking at the full picture.
As their mother, I have to grant them their wish. – Forever Fyonna
We can also lower the CD on entangle.
Am I good?… I’m good.

healing spring is worthless lol and the it says we are suppose to get 2k+ heal from the regen we really are only getting 1.9k unless you put all into healing power then maybe its an ok skill but i laugh when I run into a ranger using healing spring and im using troll because i know im goin to out heal him any day

Healing spring removes condition and grants regeneration to all allies. If you want to support your team or have an extra condition removal you take healing spring. It’s not horrible at all.
Beating other rangers 1v1 (or even any class in 1v1) really means nothing at all.

Yes, but are you going to keep your debuffs on him? Healing spring CONSTANTLY takes out a debuff every tick. You may be able to out heal him, but can you survive constant debuffs on you like he can? I think not.

Problem is, when? They take too kitten long to fix anything for rangers because they dont want to ruin the current meta which rangers have little too no part in. Its stupid and needs to be addressed.

I don’t know what is taking so long, but honestly, I don’t think they have anything to gain by leaving rangers on a disadvantage. I don’t understand why people believe that. Developers did promise us a big update. At least that’s what I’m counting on. Meanwhile, I’m going for the few available viable ranger builds in sPvP.

Ok lets say we don’t have anything into healing power. You get 4,920 hp from just the heal and then you get 15 seconds of regen if you stay in for the whole 15 secs which is 130 hp per second which is only 1,950 hp not 2,340 like the skill says. So thats only 6,870 hp over 15 seconds and then you have a 30 second recharge. Troll Unguent heals for 856 per second which is 8,560 hp over 10 seconds and only a 25 second recharge. Healing spring to be any good requires you to sit in it and eat up all the AoE which im pretty sure your little 130 hp per second wont out heal. Troll Unguent lets you run around and dodge attacks while healing. Healing spring only takes off 1 condition every 3 seconds so over 15 seconds you only lose 5 conditions and your standing in one spot getting hit by AoE.
Have fun standing still when a warrior or thief beats you down in your little spring.

If it’s a thief, you’re not going to escape them, you can only outlast them or make them run. And depending the build, it’s very possible to make the thief run, as I’ve done it myself (but glass cannons I still have a hard time with due to that backstab damage). Warriors…well, when was the last time you have seen a warrior solo in WvW?

I run a trapping build and I beat thieves all the time. Only time i lose is if they use food buffs. I also see warriors soloing all the time. Trapping build requires you to move tho….if your sitting in a spring then yea the thief is going to kill you.
To be perfectly honest, I’m actually far too lazy to change up my skills from Healing Spring to Troll Ungent. I tend to forget I changed them, and end up surprised when I remember I changed them in the heat of battle. I’ve gotten killed quite a few times due to that.

Conditions never were a problem for me enough to use healing spring…I have The Dreamer and it has sigil of purity which removes conditions and I was scared if i changed the sigils it would revert it back to exotic like it would if you transmuted it. So i kept purity on it and it helps tremendously with conditions.

What decent player doesn’t use food buffs or oils ?

I am not a fan of traps. Number one problem is you can see them. Numerous times I have chased a trapper Ranger. As he runs he lays he traps. I see them and step around them. One time I was very motivated to kill a specific Ranger. He layed the trap and I said screw it and ran right over it. Damage is a mosquito bite.
Thiefs don’t fear traps with their stealth condition purges.

Let me guess, he used fire, spike, viper? Personally i run spike, ice, viper if i do a trap build, i use them more for the immob.snare and the healing butcher (the healing butcher is more for going toe to toe against other profs NOT thieves), pretty nice seeing as how chill + weakness + both on a thief = a very sad and miserable excuss of an opponent…

Ranger healing is on the level of bunker ele and that a amount of regen can out last anything 1v1 except for maybe 100B warrior (which is easy to get out of) and Back stab thief, and a close call with phantasm mesmers sustain.
And you want buffs to that? LOL!
I can kind of understand certain elites but healing? Just no.

I’m not sure what the first Ranger used because I just stepped around them.
2nd Ranger I ran through fire.
I read all these tips which always makes me ask …where do you use these tactics ? 3 traps sounds great in pvp. Using all 3 slots for traps in WvW seems tough to do.

a good trapper throws his trap on you lol doesnt just w8 for you to walk into them…and they do alot of condition damage if your condition damage is up…he must of not had alot of condition damage and clearly didnt know how to run his trapper.

Dont expect heals to heal ridiculous amounts without healing power.
Im sure you either had 25 bleed on you or kept attacking while confused to oblivion.

Totally agree, TU should be used often and constantly, I use it as I enter a fight and when it stops ticking I have full health even after taking damage from a backstabbing or other bursts. The short cooldown combined with training and dodges is godly, I never use it because I’m in trouble, I use it simply because I’ve entered combat.

25 bleed, immobilized, crippled, no signet of renewal, pet dead, and flames. Also, I really have no points in Nature Magic because as a whole, if Healing Spring isn’t doing its job of getting rid of debuffs, I’m dead anyway in WvW. I may be a trap build, but I also use myself, my Healing Spring, and my traps as support for the party. And I never really run with 3 traps most of the time (unless you consider Entangle a trap) since I never know when I’ll need that Signet of the Hunt in use to make an escape. Also, not everybody can say they have a legendary to use to that effect, Casey.

nah in WvW it’s actually easier (and perhaps better) to use multiple traps, ESPECIALLY viper and ice because of how badly they’ll kitten up people in the zerg via AoE chill and poison (seeing as how most members of a zerg are stupid they’ll blow their heal during the poison, butchering the effect, and the chill slows them down for siege/melee/other AoEs)
And the ranger that used the fire trap clearly was just some idiot with a trap(s) for a few reasons 1) if you’re running away there’s no way in hell you’d wanna throw your fire trap down, that’s not going to stop your attacker period. 2) it’s not that great of a trap to begin with, all it does is burn which we can get via several other ways, and if you’re a trapper and thus likely condi damage/duration you’ll probably be using a torch anyway completely making the fire field and fire trap pretty worthless…

Also, not everybody can say they have a legendary to use to that effect, Casey.
My god, do you look at our trait trees or do you just use a normal 30/30/10 build or something similar? Nature Magic is vitality and boon duration, if you want healing power you wanna go with BM (you know one of the trees that buffs our damage?)… geez, some people…
PS: You need to have a Sigil of Superior Purity to CRAFT the legendary, so you’d certainly be able to have that sigil on a non legendary as well…

I use 10/30/30/0/0 for my build. Gives me full control over the traps, doubles their duration, boosts their power to the max, and gives my normal attacks a decent boost. It has caused me no problems usually in WvW or PvP.
PvE Main – Zar Poisonclaw – Daredevil
WvW Main – Ghost Mistcaller – Herald

Run 20/30/20, piercing arrows helps alot

I had actually been thinking about using that for WvW, but I’ve been doing dungeons with the guild as of late so I’ve been pushing that back. Bark Skin can really help survival in those dungeons.
