Hi, thanks for sharing the build and the video, it was indeed a cheap laugh, 2 questions: 1) is staff+hammer better than sw/sh+hammer against thieves only or in general against any class?
2) how does build deal with other classes? It has no sustain whatsoever, do you only rely on dodge?

Idk, I didn’t like sword/shield because it locks down your character so I went staff. The cc on staff is just hilariously good in scenarios and the condi purge is too important. Then there is the blind projectiles so even if a thief doesn’t attack during your block they still needs to clear it. It really is not a roaming/dueling build.

Yes it is ok against many players. Note I say players because someone with a brain shouldn’t be getting hit with CoR, phase smash and drop the hammer regardless of class. It really is quite frail and depends mostly on people assuming you are a bearbow / them not respecting the builds hard cleaving against tryharding. Dodge/Evade/Block/Projectile Denial while continuing the attack.

I do die alot in a night if solo roaming. There just so much condi and 1vX is rampant in wvw. But if I wasn’t having fun I wouldn’t be running it. Look through my channel for more vids labled [Backbreaker] for some more cheap laughs and carnage ;-)

Warriors got nerfhammered next in line are revs, probably before next expansion.
Shaving attack dmg and increasing cd’s for #2 hammer skill is a must but giving them more condi cleanses in exchange.

Warriors got nerfhammered next in line are revs, probably before next expansion.
Shaving attack dmg and increasing cd’s for #2 hammer skill is a must but giving them more condi cleanses in exchange.

Ya hammer 2 needs higher cd and/or cost. Like there is no reason not to cast it on recharge. The damage is fine as long as it is throttled through thoughtful choice on use. The aa, it’s a slow cast projectile which makes it susepctable to weaving, it hits hard on no damage mitigation builds. Thats all. Maybe they could chop it but to what end? 4k aa gonna hurt too. Even 3k. The damage of the aa is not the damage, it’s the +% damage modifiers which pigeon holes into glass builds.

Tl;dr
Hammer is a slow telegraphed weapon,
Which makes it more balanced then most stuff added to the game. Yes you can actually actively dodge hammer skills. Try dodging mantra of pain and get back to me about hammer rev being op.
If you want it’s damage shaved then incerase it’s attack speed aswell

Sorry but Rev’s hammer #1 is one of the slowest auto attacks in the game (1s), which means that despite the damage x hit is big, the overall damage over time is not exceptional (DH’s Longbow has better dps). CoR was already nerfed (from a 4s cd to 6s) and as Justine said the Rev hammer is a very telegraphed weapon.

If you are below the 50% HP treshold is perfectly fine for a power Rev with Rolling Mist + Swift Termination + Enchanted Daggers to hit you for 12k+ critical damage, because power hammer Rev is essentially a glass canon with no access to stability and pos access to condition cleansing which lacks the survability, sustain or disengaging tools which makes other classes to shine in roaming.

At this moment condition builds are prevalent in WvW roaming; Revenant is currently a underrepresented class in that landscape because is hard to use and doesn’t have clear advantages (high risk, low reward). Power hammer Rev is even less used. I’m not against a nerf per se, but you’re aiming towards a underperforming build from a underperforming class which no one is abusing of, which makes no sense.

Crying about kittening Revenant Hammer? Which is arguably the worst ranged weapon for both PvE and PvP? Nice new kittening joke there, I don’t think you could even get to platinum as a hammer Rev.

So you main guard… you have any idea how much easier is guard than revenant to pick up and master? Theres a reason why wvw and pvp is still plagued with guardians, revenants have been rare for along time now.

Nice video I have watched it twice. Glad to see MY thief not one punished by you.

On the Rev note I am currently working on a condi build. I like to roam but power build I fail so miserably. SO I decided to covert armor for condi with some health and sustain. Don’t really want to list build as of yet because I am still tweaking but so far so good in PvE test runs and now testing in WvW playground.

I chose to do this test run to become less bored lol. Rev can be difficult to master CORRECTLY and this is my third 80 Rev as the previous two were excommunicated to hell due to frustrations.

I know people scream of condi cancer but I am still old school if you don’t have your class mastered you will be the subject of many deaths regardless of the builds you are up against.

Consumed Hate – Thief
Unlucky Scrub – Ranger

you are really good in 1v1, this glass cannon build is great in blob/zerg/group fights when there is mayhem and people don’t know where the damage is coming from but the average Joe is not going to get the jump on a thief.

I tried it and even though the hammer is slow my dps is actually better lol. cant believe all that time put in learning how to fight as a rev when all i need to do is zerk up and spam 1 and 2 at the back line.

edit: I should also point out i have killed thieves faster with this build than with others, you kill fast and die fast but when it takes only a second for a thief to stealth and reset the fight I much rather have a slight chance than 0 chance.

great build for wvw.
