How to get away from fights in WvW?
Shiro utility, constant swiftness with herald?

I’ve heard Phase Traversal is pretty good for getting away from enemies, but isn’t it hard since you have to have a target?

I swap staff for hammer for group play, but if I ever have to get away, I go to assassin stance and find a further away target and use the Phase Traversal skill. Plus I try to keep up my swiftness in dragon stance.
Assassin Stance. Riposting Shadows is great in place of Phase Traversal if you don’t have available targets to use it on. Also Impossible Odds is really great to run away, since it gives superspeed and not many classes have superspeed on demand available. If I need to run away I always get away unless I get CC’d to death. I think rev has the second best mobility in the game after thief.
Outside of the Shiro/Glint meta you can also use Unyielding Anguish from Malyx, staff #5 and mace #3 in conjunction with Inspiring Reinforcement to gain a jump+swiftness+stab (x2 if you got herald).

Why Ferocious Strikes when you got a shield man?

All 3 of the options on that are plenty viable, I just took Ferocious Strikes for the extra staff damage personally. Any of the 3 are good though.

Are you sure you read the trait description? Ferocious strikes won’t affect staff at all.
Vicious lacerations is the better trait in pretty much any situation being a base damage modifier. Also vicious laceration affects any weapon, you just can’t stack without sword.

Ah you’re right, I did misread it lol. I changed it up to Vicious Lacerations since the majority of damage comes from my sword/shield anyway as well. Thanks for pointing that out.
Riposting shadows and dodges are perfect get away. If you have full endurance and 50 energy you can dodge backward riposting shadows back doge RS and yet another dodge. It is well over 1500 range worth that you can put between your enemy and yourself all while evading the entire way back. I used it on skyhammer the other day and got told that I was hacking which was kind of lulzy but it did keep me evading from the portal almost to point A where my team was.
If you mean Zergs, as Rev you need to use Infuse Light at the right time. You’ve got 2 seconds to take all the damage you can, regen up and then walk out of the circles closer to where the backline is. If I were to be very conscious of what I do, I never leave Facets of Element (Swiftness) unused, so blast it on your exit out. That will slow down the attackers.
I use Shiro/Jalis, so if that regen is not enough, I activate Jalis’ heal immediately and use Merciless Hammer for the -20% damage effect. If that’s not enough create that road for stability. By this time you should be out.
Protection is good too. Remember to use your Shiro elite and F2 early on.
