When Glint’s facets are active, there is a pulsing “organ” music playing in the background. It seems like the tones it plays are a variant of the chord progression from one of the GW1 music tracks. These tones conflict with the normal GW2 background music though and in some cases are quite dissonant and distracting. I realize some people may like these audio cues for the facets so I don’t want to recommend disabling them across the board, but please could we have an option to disable them? Personally I don’t find value in them and find them to actually be an audio distraction.

I actually find it very relaxing…kinda makes playing a revenant feel very ‘zen’. =P

@ SoulstitchMMO: He means the note that plays periodically when you have a facet active as a herald.

I hear ya – that’s why I didn’t want to suggest disabling it unilaterally. But I’m sure there are others like myself who really don’t like the way it can clash with the background music (which is very well done in many areas). An option to disable the facet tones would really be a nice addition to the game.

Yea, I think it would be nice for people to toggle this along with the color-changing animation since that seems to be causing issues for players too.

That music plays along with the “Player instrument volume” option in your sound options. Turn it all the way down and you wont hear it, neither will you hear annoying people playing the same note endlessly.

Excellent – thanks for that tip. I turned the player instrument volume all the way down and the facet tones went away. Those tones were actually getting pretty annoying so you’ve all saved my sanity.

For the longest time I didn’t realize that was coming from my facets. I thought it was in-game music. Then I realized it was the facets. It’s annoying and I do wish I could shut the sound off. And not with the players instruments thing, because I actually like hearing people play instruments every once in a while.

I don’t mind the hymn once every so often. But when it plays on top of other in-game music, it gets messy, and annoying. It chugs along all the time when the weapons are drawn, which is often. Sure, it won’t play when the weapon is sheathed, but I tend to fight stuff, or get into combat, or generally just use some skills. It’s a hassle to constantly need to sheathe the weapons manually again to avoid it.

So I had no idea about this sound and thought it was an ambient/part of music sound… then I read this forum and, well, lightbulb. So I moved the player instrument down to 15% and music up to 85% and all is better now. Thanks!

I don’t use Glint often, because I don’t actually like her as a legend, but when I do use her, I have a splitting headache.

That humming sound is on a frequency that my ears just don’t agree with. It makes me nauseous and makes my head hurt to listen to it for too long.

Herald is just an elite-spec designed to kill the player as slowly and painfully as possible. We have annoying skill bars and glowing disks that induce seizures to epileptic players, buggy and unrelated animations to make OCD players comatose, and subliminal soundwaves to make player’s heads explode.
